Marissa grew up in South Korea and New York State. She moved to New York City after high school and lived and worked as an actress for over ten years in Manhattan. She relocated to Seattle in 2009 and attended the University of Washington to earn her MFA in Acting. She currently splits her time between Los Angeles and Chicago.
Marissa wrote her acclaimed one-woman show Yellow Dress in 2011 which traveled to the New York International Fringe Festival in 2012. The show has received high praised and has toured around the country. She then wrote a spin-off short film in 2020 which garnered 40 different Best Film Festival awards and honors. In 2022, Marissa wrote the feature film Searching for Yoo currently listed top 1% for the caliber of content on Coverfly.
She holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Washington and Screenwriting from UCLA.
