Katya Zamolodchikova is getting help.
The 41-year-old RuPaul’s Drag Race star announced Tuesday (April 9) that he is checking into an unnamed “institution” to address a longtime drug and alcohol addiction.
Keep reading to find out more…
“There’s a saying for the active alcoholic or drug addict that the trajectory of the life course has three possible outcomes: A) jail, B) institutions or C) death,” Katya said in an emotional video. “Unfortunately, I find myself squarely and firmly and quite uncomfortably in the B camp right now.”
“In an effort to make things good with you in the future, I’ve got to make things good for me right now,” she continued.
The Bald and the Beautiful Tour, her podcast live show with fellow Drag Race album Trixie Mattel, will be postponed.
“Rest assured that any rescheduled dates or potential loss of money will be rectified as swiftly and competently as possible,...

When it's time for our interview, Trixie Mattel swishes into Popsugar's La office like a fierce Spring breeze. It's a warm day, but she's in full drag; I've caught her at the perfect moment. It's early April, a few short weeks after her fantastic RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars 3 victory and mere days before she kicks off the tour for her second mini album, One Stone.
We proceed to the green room, where she changes immediately. It's a busy press day, so she's prepped multiple wigs and outfits to keep things fresh. She looks over her shoulder and says, "I sat through a 40-minute car ride while wearing a corset. Can you imagine?" She pops off her shoes, cracks open the Lacroix I've offered her, finishes up her outfit overhaul, and sits on the couch.

Having a conversation with drag stars Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova (real names Brian Firkus and Brian McCook, respectively) is kind of like being on an extended episode of their YouTube webseries, UNHhhh. You may start talking with them about one topic, but the next thing you know, they’re off on a tangent about why Bart Simpson says “Eat my shorts.”
It’s that brand of strange, out-of-left-field comedy that landed the two their very own talk show, The Trixie & Katya Show on Viceland, after becoming breakout stars on season seven ofRuPaul’s Drag Race. The show follows a similar format to their YouTube series; they take one topic every week and examine it through personal stories, games, man-on-the-street segments and more.

Trixie Mattel (real name Brian Firkus) and Katya Zamolodchikova (real name Brian McCook) are the stars of The Trixie & Katya Show, a program on the Viceland TV channel that is the successor to their hit web series UNHhhh.
In The Trixie & Katya Show, the titular queens dish on a multitude of subjects in a stream of consciousness style. As they do, their dialgoues are punctuated with campy green-screen effects and colorful blocks of text. Man-on-the-street segments and question-and-answer sessions add variety to the 22-minute program. In the premiere, which was made available on YouTube 12 days before its premiere on television, Trixie & Katya share their thoughts on hookups:
The Trixie & Katya Show is stylistically similar to UNHhhh. The queens' web series spanned 68 episodes on WOWPresents, the YouTube channel run by RuPaul's Drag Race producer World of Wonder. Along the way,...

On the shimmering stiletto heels of RuPaul’s Drag Race scoring eight Emmy nominations comes the news that two of Drag Race’s most beloved contestants are getting their own show. Drag isn’t so niche anymore. Viceland — interestingly, not Logo — has announced plans for a “hilarious hybrid of late-night, daytime, and advice shows” hosted by Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova, who both appeared on season seven of the show (Katya also went on to appear in All-Stars).

Viceland is looking ahead to fall, when it will premiere three new series and roll out new seasons of four more. The youth lifestyle and entertainment network from Vice Media and A+E Networks will introduce skate-documentary series Epicly Later’d, hosted by filmmaker-photographer Patrick O’Dell; The Trixie & Katya Show, a chat show starring Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova from RuPaul's Drag Race; and Most Expensivist, a docuseries about the culture of excess hosted…...

Who needs a crown when you’re Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova? Sure, the cash prize and title of America’s Next Drag Superstar would have been great for Katya (real name: Brian McCook), but the drag queen ran away with the competition on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season two. On Twitter, she was dubbed Time’s “Person of the Year.” She has since appeared on her own web series, I’m Not a Doctor and UNHhhh with fellow contestant Trixie Mattel. And Bjork even took notice!
Inspired by the likes of comedians Tracy Ullman and Maria Bamford, gymnast Elena Zamolodchikova, a past college professor and McCook’s own real-life anxiety, Katya is a persona unlike any other seen on eight seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Her blend of charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent easily earned her the title of “Miss Congeniality” and made her a favorite of longtime fans.

Herstory has been made! In the season two finale of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, Alaska sashayed away with the title of America's Next Drag Superstar, landing the $100,000 prize in the process. Alaska beat out nine returning All Star queens for the title, including runner-ups Detox and Katya. "I am honored, humbled, and grateful for the great responsibility which has been laid upon my dainty, tiny, diminutive shoulders," Alaska said of the big win. "As your newly crowned queen of Earth, it is my first royal decree that flats are sexy and nails are optional. Let us be kind to one another and be slow to anger. Hold on to your dream; hold on to your dream- because if it can happen for me,...

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 2 didn't need a runway theme to remind us that Alaska is wearing the pants this time around. RuPaul's joke about goofing off during deliberations, which is genius as we've discussed, only further emphasizes who's the boss this season. And it ain't Ru, okay gurl?
I can't wait to see how this turns out.
That binocular miming bit from Katya was cute but there's no suspense. I think we all know who's turning it out at the finale...

Image Source: Getty / Santiago Felipe If you're a RuPaul's Drag Race fan, you'll know that one of the best episodes of every season involves "Snatch Game." Putting a Drag Race twist on the classic game show Match Game, each of the queens dresses up as a well-known celebrity, TV personality, musician, or public figure - basically whatever their beautiful heads can dream up. There have been plenty of iconic "Snatch Game" moments through the seasons, but last week's edition took things up a notch. As part of Rpdr All Stars season two, we witnessed Alaska Thunderf*ck as Mae West, Tatianna as Ariana Grande, and, most brilliantly, Katya as Björk. If you were delighted by Katya's take on the strange Icelandic singer, you're not alone. In fact, even Björk saw (and fell in love with) Katya's impression. While the show will have big changes – including the dissolution of the widely-criticized team competition that plagued the first All Stars season – none are as welcome as new permanent judge Todrick Hall.
The 31-year-old YouTube sensation is joining the panel alongside Carson Kressley, Michelle Visage and RuPaul herself.
In addition to an exclusive sneak peek at Hall's introduction along guest judge Raven-Symoné, People has the exclusive sneak peek at Hall on Thursday's premiere!

Get ready for the return of your favorite drag queens because later this month RuPaul's Drag Race is giving us another All Stars season. Can you believe we are already getting more eleganza when it feels like season 8 just ended?
In case you haven't seen the cast, here's our returning queens:
Adore Delano (Season 6) Alaska (Season 5) Alyssa Edwards (Season 5) Coco Montrese (Season 5) Detox (Season 5) Ginger Minj (Season 7) Katya Zamolodchikova (Season 7) Phi Phi O'Hara (Season 4) Roxxxy Andrews (Season 5) Tatianna (Season 2)
That is an overload of season five realness, but if it means the return of Rolaskatox, we are perfectly okay with that. Tatianna is the only returning early season competitor and maybe the season's underdog - don't forget she was the original Snatch Game winner with her Britney Spears ("I got lost!"). Overall this cast is heavy with strong performers ready to bring the drama. This round is forgoing the first...

Back in 2009, you'd be hard-pressed to find an average American who knew the definition of a death drop or how to read a queen for filth. That all changed with RuPaul's Drag Race, the must-see competition series returning this summer with its second All Stars season on Logo. And it promises to be bitchier and funnier than ever.
"The girls dropped whatever they were doing to do this," RuPaul says. "We've got a hundred girls now, so we could pretty much do All Stars forever."
So who's going to lip-sync...

The wait is over, chickadees! Rupaul's Drag Race returns for its eighth season on March 7. Also the show is celebrating in centennial fashion: not only has it hit 100 episodes, but now the show has now ushered 100 drag queens to our tv screens
After an underwhelming seventh season that nevertheless brought new fan favorites like Katya, Trixie Mattel, and winner Violet Chachki, our favorite not-so-guilty pleasure is back with a new batch of queens to adore. And the new crew looks promising, from big names like Derrick Barry (the Britney Spears impersonator) to new blood like Naomi Smalls. Expect the hilarious Bob the Drag Queen to give good quote, with Robbie Turner (part of the same Seattle gang as Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme) the frontrunner for the all-important Snatch Game.
The brief glimpse so far is already more enticing than the drab presentation Logo gave the contestants last year - hopefully...

What can you say about Miley Cyrus' closing number at the 2015 Video Music Awards? There was a ridiculous death drop (thank you Laganja Estranja). There was a kiss with reigning "RuPaul's Drag Race" champion Violet Chachki. Oh, and yes, Ms. Vivacious looked a week bit tired, but chances are unless you're a fan of the only hit show on the Logo TV network you likely had no idea who those drag queens dancing around Ms. Cyrus were. Let us enlighten you. It turns out Cyrus is such a big fan of "Drag Race" and drag in general that she sat through taping of the season 7 finale this past May. She smartly put some of the better dancers around her on the front part of the stage including the previously mentioned Estranja, Alyssa Edwards (whose audio can be heard in Cyrus' new song "Dooo It!") and Shangela (a trio who...
