The top ten has descended upon us, and the competition couldn't be hotter and more emotional.
At this point in the game, it's tough to see anyone go home because they've devoted so much of their time to improving and growing while delivering great dishes.
A fish challenge on MasterChef Season 13 Episode 13 unleashed a sea of potential and a few flops.
And things got more creative on Masterchef Season 13 Episode 14, as the Masterchef Season 11 winner, Kelsey Murphy, returned to host a stadium-themed challenge.
We're two contestants down and nearing the finish line. Let's get into it.
Something Fishy
The fish challenge was fascinating and so niche because, with a regional competition, it's glaring who has access to what types of seafood.
When you have more landlocked people, they don't have access to an array of fish as someone coastal or those who live on islands or peninsulas.

The nonprofit Bipoc accelerator Rideback Rise, launched last July by Dan Lin’s production company Rideback has today named film producer Tracey Bing as its Head of Content, appointing former charity: water exec Sabrina Pourmand as its Founding Executive Director, and adding Panda Express’ Chief Brand Officer, Andrea Cherng, to its Board of Directors.
These developments come as Rideback Rise looks to further its mission of advancing racial equity through the development of market-ready mainstream film, television, digital and audio entertainment. Also helping it along in that respect is a newly announced $2M donation from the Murphy Family Fund, run by internet entrepreneur and Snap co-founder and Cto Bobby Murphy and his wife Kelsey Murphy, along with a donation from Comcast NBCUniversal. These funds bring the total raised by Rise to more than $3M.

The July 21 episode of “MasterChef: Legends” ended with an emotional shocker as Tay Westberry was eliminated due to a technicality. This week’s task was to create a California-inspired dish using five ingredients: Santa Barbara prawns, sea urchin, wasabi, avocado and grapefruit. Unfortunately, Tay forgot his urchin butter in the refrigerator, so Gordon Ramsay, Aaron Sanchez, Joe Bastianich and special guest judge Jonathan Waxman had no choice but to cut him from the Top 10.
“It breaks my heart to send you home,” Gordon told the 29-year-old radio host from Nebraska. “Tonight’s challenge was about using five ingredients and this is a competition, so we have to abide by the rules.” In truth, the judges thought Joseph Manglicmot made the worst dish of the week, but he “dodged a bullet” because of Tay’s oopsie. The other home cook in the bottom three was Alejandro Valdivia.

The sixth episode of “MasterChef: Legends” turned out to be the end of the road for Matt Gagnon, and it was all thanks to his overcooked filet mignon. This 36-year-old construction worker from Cromwell, Connecticut was randomly assigned the popular cut of meat in his mystery box. He prepared his filet mignon with porcini vermouth pan sauce, Brussels sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, it was too seared on the outside and Gordon Ramsay, Aaron Sanchez, Joe Bastianich and special guest judge Michael Mina sent him packing.
“When you get presented one of the most delicious cuts anywhere on the planet, then you need to do it justice,” Gordon said after announcing the panel’s decision. “You certainly can’t overcook it and that unfortunately, is why you cooked for the last time.”

Heading into the fifth episode of “MasterChef: Legends,” host Gordon Ramsay and judges Joe Bastianich and Aaron Sanchez had already singled out three front-runners to win the show: Kelsey Murphy, Suu Khin and Autumn Moretti. They did the best last week at preparing monkish dishes, with Kelsey winning that challenge. Conversely, last week’s bottom three home cooks were Elyce Wooten (who was eliminated), Alejandro Valdivia and Annai Gonzalez. This week’s guest judge was Sherry Yard, who tasked the remaining 14 chef-testants with competing in a tasty dessert challenge. So how’d it all play out on Wednesday night?
