Rakesh Raghunathan is an Indian chef, food historian, singer and TV host. He is also a South Indian culinary ambassador who envisions to showcase the rich heritage of the region to the world, having traveled 40 towns and 150 villages. He was born in Chennai and went to Loyola College to pursue B.com before joining Pondicherry University to earn a degree in Master of Financial Management. Rakesh completed his MBA in Finance and Management from the University of Hartford, US.
He started his career as a Senior Contract Administrator before enrolling for a three-month Business Internship at Standard Chartered Bank. Soon, he launched "PetaWrap", a food and beverage kiosk chain. He hosted the tourism TV show Sutralam Suvaikalam which was aired on News7Tamil. Rakesh presented a speech titled "Food Stories: Tale of a community, adversity & a humble peanut" at the TEDx Chennai in 2018.
In the same year, he started a cookery web series 'Ammavum Naanum' which was streamed on his YouTube channel. In 2019, he started a documentary TV show 'Dakshin Diaries,' which was aired on Living Foodz. Later, he also hosted Highway Dreams, an English language travel and food TV show. He appeared as a celebrity chef in Sun TV's Tamil cookery show "Super Samayal" and Zee Zest special '100% South Indian". In 2023, Rakesh Raghunathan appeared as a judge in the MasterChef India - Tamil Season 2, along with Koushik Shankar and Shreeya Adka.
