"The operation is compromised." Well Go USA has debuted an official Us trailer for the Chinese action heist movie called The Adventurers, from director Stephen Fung. The action-packed film is about three of the world's top thieves, played by Andy Lau, Tony Yang, and Shu Qi, who band together to pull off the "heist of a lifetime." But hot on their trailer is a French detective, played Jean Reno of course, who chases them all over Europe. The full cast Jingchu Zhang, Eric Tsang, Tony Yo-ning Yang, David Bowles, and Yi Sha. This definitely looks slick, kind of like a Hollywood action heist movie with some cool set pieces and locations, but I hope it's actually good. Seems like it's going to be super cheesy, a little too much Hollywood. Here's the official Us trailer (+ international poster) for Stephen Fung's The Adventurers, from YouTube: In this slick, high-stakes action-adventure,...

While there may be a serious lack of theatrical horror coming our way this Halloween season, fear not genre fans, as we have over 15 different horror and sci-fi titles making their way onto smaller screens this October, which should help take the sting off a bit. Several great films I happened to catch earlier on this year at various festivals – The Greasy Strangler, In A Valley of Violence and Under the Shadow – are all making their VOD debuts this month, and you also have the remastered version of Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm and the series final sequel, Phantasm: Ravager, to look forward to as well.
Other notable VOD releases for October 2016 include The Windmill, The Unspoken, ClownTown, Fear, Inc., Vampyres, Halloweed, and Goddess of Love from Jon Knautz (The Shrine, Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer).

Award-winning director Chen Yu-Hsun teams up with Taiwanese star Shu Qi to tickle your funny bone with the upcoming comedy film The Village of No Return.
Since his first feature Tropical Fish in 1995, this $9M feature is Chen’s sixth film foray in the comedy genre.
From his hilarious TV commercials to memorable shorts (Middle-Aged Juliet, Hippocamp Hair Salon), well received features like Love Go Go and Zone Pro Site: The Movable Feast, Chen takes the director’s seat again with this period action comedy flick.
The film is set sometime during the end of the Qing dynasty, a very strange event take place and turns a sleepy rural village’s life upside down–all while waiting for a railway to come.
The Village of No Return also reunites Chen with producers Yeh Jufeng, Lee Lieh, and Warner Brothers (Taiwan), following their breakout hit Zone Pro Site.
