Although many people believe that once a show ends, the fandom it had immediately evaporates, this is often not the case. The more viewers a show has during its run, the more chances it has of attracting new people decades after its premiere. Gilmore Girls is one of the best examples of this.
One of the things that makes the show so popular is that it appeals to a wide range of ages. While some of the Og fans used to identify more with Rory, they have grown up and face the same issues as Lorelai. This also makes more viewers think about the on-screen relationships and all the possibilities the show missed out on.

That is the startling observation of Emmy-winning filmmaker Kirsten Johnson, who has been thinking deeply about the ramifications of artificial intelligence for human culture. The director of Cameraperson and Dick Johnson Is Dead will deliver a keynote at the IDA’s Getting Real conference in Los Angeles this week, addressing what she sees as a fundamental truth about AI that sets it apart from human endeavors: AI “lacks a body,” and as such is disengaged from the fate of humanity.
Johnson joins the latest edition of Deadline’s Doc Talk podcast to discuss her feelings about AI – its areas of promise, but also the way in which the emerging technology is going to fundamentally alter our experience. She notes that more people are already creating new images through generative AI prompts – e.g., “Make me a photo of a frog in a pinstripe suit balancing...

In 1973, Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia fulfilled a longtime dream when he formed the bluegrass supergroup known as Old & In the Way. For the rock & roller, circling back to his acoustic roots was more than just scratching a creative itch — it was a spiritual calling.
“It was something that was organic and fun,” Peter Rowan, singer, songwriter, and former Oitw guitarist, tells Rolling Stone. “And that evolved into playing [shows]. ‘Let’s take this outside.’”

This article contains spoilers for all of The Blacklist.
All good things must end. Whether all good things must end well is another matter entirely. The series finale of The Blacklist was rated poorly on IMDb and fans united in assessing it as one of the worst endings to ever close out a series’ run, especially a run as unique and longstanding as The Blacklist’s: 10 years and 218 episodes, an achievement largely unmatched in today’s TV landscape.
That ending of The Blacklist had to be a joke.
May go down as the worst Finale of all time. Literally tied up Zero loose ends. The entire show was rendered pointless. pic.twitter.com/00MoyhY25L

Bill Skarsgård has quickly become an actor whose very presence in a film suggests something twisted is about to go down -- that's what happens when you play a child-eating clown monster in two of the highest-grossing horror movies of all time. But where "Barbarian" cleverly used that foreknowledge to subvert audience expectations and "John Wick: Chapter 4" embraced it by casting the "It" star as the slimeball Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont, Moritz Mohr splits the difference in his feature directing debut, "Boy Kills World." Instead of casting Skarsgård as a blood-thirsty killer, the film casts him as a righteous killer in the vein of John Wick himself. And you know what? It might just work!
While it didn't exactly blow critics away last year during its premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, "Boy Kills World" still managed to garner praise for its distinct blend of bloody slapstick action and irreverent comedy.

The Grateful Dead have broken the record for most Top 40 albums in history thanks to the latest release from their live back-catalog series, Dave’s Picks Vol. 49, which debuted at No. 25 on the Billboard 200 this week.
Released on January 26th, 2024, Dave’s Picks Vol. 49 consists of two complete shows that the Dead played at Stanford University in April 1985. Now, it’s become the 59th album the band has placed on the Top 40, beating the previous record-holders: Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra, who were each tied with the Dead for 58 top-charting albums.
The Dead only earned that “tied with” status themselves this past fall, with the release of the previous entry in the 13-year-old Dave’s Picks series, Dave’s Picks Vol. 48, which peaked at No. 33 on the Billboard 200. Dead & Company are reportedly in talks to play a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas in Summer 2024.
News of the talks comes from a report in the New York Post, which quotes sources who claim that the potential residency would take place “next summer,” but stressed that negotiations are “still in the works and not 100%.”
The Sphere — which cost $2.3 billion to construct and opened this past September — has been busy hosting a U2 residency, which was recently extended into 2024 (get tickets here). After those shows wrap in March, Phish — another psychedelic jam in a similar vein to Dead & Co — are booked for a week-long run (get tickets here). Beyoncé has supposedly been in talks about hosting shows there as well.
According to another report by the New York Post, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi, and others have “been considered” for residencies as well, but as “insiders” in the new article explain,...

Nearly eight years have passed since writer/director Jason Lei Howden announced that he would be making a sequel to his feature directorial debut Deathgasm (watch it Here). In that time, Howden has made Guns Akimbo and set up a film and comic book project called Monsters of Metal… and now he’s finally getting ready to head into production on Deathgasm 2! But to get the sequel made properly, he needs some help from the fans. That’s why Deathgasm 2 is currently raising funds and selling perks – including accepting pre-orders for copies of the finished film – on Kickstarter.
Deathgasm, released in 2015, tells the story of two high-school metal-heads, Brodie (played by Cawthorne) and Zakk (Blake), who form a band called Deathgasm. BuzzFeed comic artist Adam Ellis began a Twitter thread in 2017 that went viral as it chronicled the eerie happenings within his apartment, with sleep paralysis giving glimpses of the specter responsible, a young ghost boy with a misshapen head named David. The movie adaptation of that thread, Dead David, aims to expand the paranormal mystery that haunted Ellis by turning inward, using Ellis and his online habits to craft a supernaturally charged cautionary tale of online bullying.

Sometimes, the best classic rock covers are the most unexpected ones. Dead Kennedys covered Elvis Presley’s “Viva Las Vegas” and that changed their live shows forever. Band member Jello Biafra explained why his band decided to put their edgy spin on an Elvis song and why that made them different from other bands of the time.
Dead Kennedys’ cover of Elvis Presley’s ‘Viva Las Vegas’ was meant to confuse fans
“Viva Las Vegas” remains one of the most famous songs from Elvis’ movies. Dead Kennedys recorded the song with some lyrical twists. Dead Kennedys’ version features the lines “Oh, I’m gonna give it everything I’ve got / Lady Luck’s with me, the dice stay hot / Got coke up my nose to dry away the snot.” Those are not the sort of lyrics the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll would sing.

The death of Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor is renewing interest in what will arguably go down as her most controversial moment.
During a now-infamous appearance as Saturday Night Live‘s musical guest in October 1992, O’Connor left viewers stunned when she held up a photo of Pope John Paul II and ripped it into pieces. She was performing an a cappella version of Bob Marley’s song “War,” then showed the photo during the song’s final line: “We know we will win / We have confidence in the victory / Of good over evil.”

This article contains a whole lot of Mission: Impossible 7 spoilers.
Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise’s third Mission: Impossible collaboration might just be the breeziest three hours you’ll ever spend in a cinema. It’s certainly the most exhilarating of this summer’s action spectacles, which are almost uniformly longer than 150 minutes, and nearly every one of them feels it. But Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is the exception, a film as nimble and lithe as its title is long and unwieldy. It gallops through giddy set pieces like Cruise sprinting across the rooftop of the Dubai airport; and when Pom Klementieff laughs as she drives an SUV down the actual Spanish Steps of Rome, you’ll be cackling too.

When director Andy Muschietti came on board DC’s “The Flash,” he knew the tonal balance he wanted to strike. “We wanted to make a stylized movie that was at the same time realistic,” he told IndieWire’s Filmmaker Toolkit podcast. Although “The Flash” incorporates aspects of earlier DC releases (most notably Tim Burton‘s 1989 “Batman” and various movies from the Zack Snyder-verse), Muschietti’s approach is both funnier and less fanciful, with the comedy rooted in behavior and the design elements extrapolated more from reality than Burton and Snyder’s more deliberately artificial films.
Part of how Muschietti achieved the balance had to do with his and cinematographer Henry Braham’s approach to coverage. Rather than force the actors into pre-planned blocking, Muschietti and Braham devised a system by which the camera would be handheld yet stabilized, giving the actors the freedom to move where they wanted. “[This approach] gives...

Veteran actor Treat Williams, who starred in the WB drama Everwood, among many other roles, has died following a motorcycle accident at the age of 71, People magazine reports.
Williams’ agent Barry McPherson confirmed that Williams was killed on Monday afternoon when a car cut him off as he was making a turn on his motorcycle. “I’m just devastated,” McPherson said in a statement to People. “He was the nicest guy. He was so talented. He was an actor’s actor. Filmmakers loved him. He’s been the heart of Hollywood since the late 1970s.”
