Since 2018, Laurence Fishburne and his Cinema Gypsy production company have been working with Marvel Animation to create an all-new animated series based on "Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur" by Brandon Montclare, Amy Reeder, and Natacha Bustos, which was a sequel to Jack Kirby's "Moon Boy and Devil Dinosaur" from 1978. The show follows 13-year-old supergenius Lunella Lafayette, who teams up with the T-rex she accidentally brought to the present day to protect the Lower East Side of New York City from danger.
Originally, the cartoon was meant to premiere on The Disney Channel in 2020, but the pandemic threw a wrench into their plans that even Lunella couldn't fix. However, now the series is finally ready to make its debut. In fact, it's even been renewed for a second season already, so there are clearly big plans in store for this new Marvel dynamic duo.

One girl can make a difference. But can you imagine how much more of a difference she can make with a dinosaur on her side? Well, a tyrannosaurus rex may not be ideal for every situation, but Lunella Lafayette is happy to have Devil Dinosaur with her as she fights crime in the Lower East Side of New York City in the upcoming Disney Channel series "Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur."
Based on the 2015 Marvel comic series by Brandon Montclare, Amy Reeder, and Natacha Bustos, which was a sequel to Jack Kirby's "Moon Boy and Devil Dinosaur" from 1978, the animated series will follow the 13-year-old super-genius as she transports the T-rex through a time vortex to the present to help her take on the villains of the modern day. The Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sdcc, heck, even this site! None of it would exist without Wesley Snipes. Before he took on the role of C-list vampire hunter Blade for the 1998 movie directed by Stephen Norrington, the only successful superhero movies featured Batman or Superman, and those franchises were on the downswing. The only previous Marvel movie released in theaters was 1986’s notorious flop Howard the Duck. Most Marvel properties were substandard direct to VHS releases, such as the Punisher movie starring Dolph Lundgren and missing a skull logo, or embarrassing tv movies, especially Nick Fury: Agent of Shield with David Hasselhoff in the title role.
With Blade, Snipes and his effortless poise transformed the tired superhero genre into something exciting, vibrant, and cool. Despite the disastrous and controversial Blade: Trinity, fans have long been clamoring for Snipes to return to the genre and join the MCU. Most expected him to...

We've got some adorable news out of San Diego Comic-Con, and it involves a giant red beastie. Our own Ryan Scott was at the panel for "Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur." The series is based on the characters from the Marvel comic book of the same name by Brandon Montclare, Amy Reeder, and Natacha Bustos (Moon Girl). Jack Kirby created Devil Dinosaur.
In the series, we've got 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette (voiced by Diamond White) and her 10-ton best friend Devil Dinosaur — who just happens to be a Tyrannosaurus rex — who are out to stop criminals from messing up the city....

Amethyst returns to Gemworld and the DC Universe in a new series.
Among many surprise introductions in the pages of Young Justice, bringing back Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld, was one of the best. The character has been around for nearly 40 years, but has mostly been a supporting character for story arcs. That changes in February. Back in October, DC announced plans to put her front and center in her own series, written and drawn by Amy Reeder.
The series follows Amy Winston (the Earth name of the magical princess of Gemworld) heading back to her homeland to celebrate her 16th birthday. When she arrives, she discovers that her kingdom is in ruins, her subjects are gone and anyone who might have any shred of loyalty for her has turned their back on her. And while the mystery of Gemworld is going to be the plot that the book runs on,...

With the next major Arrowverse crossover, “Elseworlds,” being just under a month away from airing, we’re now seeing the hype machine slowly kicking into high gear. During this week alone, we’ve already been treated to new photos and even some brief teaser promos.
This time, though, the latest piece of marketing material comes as a welcome surprise, as the network is allowing for the monumental event to embrace its comic book roots. In fact, they’ve commissioned yet another stunning piece of artwork similar to those of past crossovers for this year’s offering.
In this instance, acclaimed Batwoman artist Amy Reeder was enlisted to unite the heroes of the Arrowverse for something similar to what you’d see on a cover to a periodical currently published by DC Comics. To be clear, this is for promotional purposes only and not the cover to an actual tie-in book,...

It is pretty hard to have a team-up book where one of the two team members has no way to actually know the other one’s name.
And, on an entirely different level, it is hard for me to take seriously a book that seems to be the high-speed collision of “hey, don’t we need to do something with Moon Boy and Devil Dinosaur every so often to keep the trademark active?” and “hey, girls in Stem are hot right now, so we should do a comic about a nerdy girl.”
Don’t get me wrong, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Vol. 1: Bff tells a pleasant story, tells it well, and has entirely positive messages to impart to what I think it hopes is a multicultural audience of mostly young, mostly female readers. But there seems to be a lot of product management going on in the background.
