Eva Justine Torkkola is an ADG-nominated director and AWG-nominated writer.
A graduate from Masters of Film and Television (Directing - Narrative) at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne, Eva is also an acting teacher for the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA Open). In 2019 Eva was selected as one of 20 emerging directors from around the world to attend the International Filmmaking Academy in Bologna, Italy with masterclass teacher Jane Campion and featuring Francis Ford Coppola. She was also selected as a filmmaker for Looking China documentary program in Xi'an. In 2020 Eva was a Leading Lights recipient for the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) as one of 40 emerging Australian documentary filmmakers. Eva was also nominated for an Australian Director's Guild (ADG) award for Best Direction in a Student Film and an Australian Writers' Guild (AWG) award for Best Short Film for her short film Something Has Died in the Forest. In 2021 Eva was shortlisted for a Monte Miller award for her latest short film, Viktor, and put onto the AWG Pathways Program and in 2022 Eva was selected by VICScreen as one of three writer/directors in Victoria to attend MIFF's Accelerator program.
