[This story includes major spoilers from the Sex Education series finale.]
The final moments of Sex Education saw the show’s core characters rally behind one of their own and begin their paths into the next chapter of their lives.
In the series finale of the Netflix series, the students at Cavendish Sixth Form College discover their classmate Cal (Dua Saleh) has gone missing, and they join forces to find their friend and bring them home safely. When Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) and Jackson (Kedar Williams-Stirling) find Cal, they realize they’ve been neglecting their friend who has been struggling with body dysmorphia amid their transition because they can’t afford top surgery.
Instead of raising money for the soup kitchen run by Eric’s church, which does not want money from LGBTQ students, the school decides to donate the money from the fundraiser to Cal so they can complete their transition.

“Sex Education” reached a climax with Maeve and Otis sleeping together after four long seasons and 32 episodes of back and forth between the two school sex clinic operators.
Season 4 doesn’t make it easy for Maeve and Otis to finally date and connect. Maeve has just gone to America for an English class taught at a prestigious university by Professor Thomas Molloy (Dan Levy). Otis and Moordale Secondary company have their own challenges to navigate because a majority of them transferred to Cavendish College after the shuttering of Moordale Secondary School at the end of last season. Intimacy coordinator David Thackerary, who has been involved with the show form Season 2 onwards, described the build-up to such an important scene involving one of the show’s most beloved “ships” in an interview with TheWrap.
“There was a lot of pressure for this moment because it’s this relationship. This is their moment.

Netflix’s “Sex Education” is in session for one last season. Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey), Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa) and more return for the fourth and final installment of the heartwarming and intimate dramedy series. The Moordale Secondary School crew face a whole new school year at Cavendish College, where most of them have transferred after the shut-down of their previous stomping grounds, run into the ground by Jemima Kirke’s Headmistress Hope Haddon.
While Otis, Eric, Viv, Jackson, Ruby, Aimee, Isaac and more have to navigate a new social scene at Cavendish, Maeve is across the pond in America taking a fancy writing seminar class. Adam Groff (Connor Swindells) has left school completely. Unfortunately, some staple characters from previous seasons such as Anwar Bakshi (Chaneil Kular) and Olivia Hanan (Simone Ashley) or Ola Nyman (Patricia Allison) and Lily Iglehart (Tanya Reynolds) won’t return this season,...

It’s funny because we saw half the cast of this beloved show in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie only a month ago. Sex Education Episode 1 takes us right back to the lovely lives of Otis and his friends. The kids have now moved to “Cavendish College” mid-term, making it their new second home. With Moordale Secondary in their past, how are things going to change for Otis and the gang? Additionally, there’s a bundle of joy in Otis’ life now. Literally, his baby sister is named Joy, and Jean seemingly isn’t taking it quite as well as she’d imagined. With no Jakob in her life and Otis going off to college, will Jean be able to manage her new life?
Spoilers Ahead
How is Maeve doing in America?
Maeve and Otis shared their first kiss, and Maeve had to leave immediately because she had a big opportunity.

After four enlightening, entertaining and full-frontally filthy years of Sex Education, this Netflix teen drama is coming to an end with its fourth and final series, as the Moordale kids finish up their school years for good.
A lot has changed as we enter the new series. Moordale Secondary has closed down, scattering the student body we grew to love over the first three series far and wide, and Otis and Eric are starting at the unnervingly progressive wonderland that is Cavendish College, with a whole new set of classmates to get to know. Maeve is now studying in America, Otis’ mum Jean has just had a surprise new baby, and a few other Sex Education favourites are missing entirely.
Let’s take a look at the Sex Education series four cast, old and new:

We’ve come a long way since the start of “Sex Education,” when we were all rooting for (or at least commiserating with) Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), the Netflix dramedy’s awkward, anxious and slightly dysfunctional hero. Four years later, we’re saying goodbye to the show’s high school student-turned-amateur sex therapist and his brilliant sex therapist mother, Dr. Jean Milburn (played by the incomparable Gillian Anderson), along with a lengthy cast of characters we’ve all grown to love.
In this final season, we get to see each character develop into the people we’ve wanted them to become. And in a sense, it seems like some end up outshining Otis, making it feel like perhaps he was never really the hero of this story, but rather an entry point into the interwoven lives of the diverse residents of the fictional town of Moordale.

Netflix has debuted the trailer for the fourth and final season of its hit coming-of-age series “Sex Education,” complete with the tagline, “Get your tissues ready, let’s finish together.”
The British comedy continues to follow the journey of teen sex therapist Otis Millburn (Asa Butterfield) and his friends as they attend a new school with an entirely different culture than they’re accustomed to, while Otis’s love interest Maeve (Emma Mackey) has moved to the United States for college. The eight-episode final season will release on Netflix on Sept. 21, with a supersized, 83-minute series finale.
The first scene of the trailer shows Otis and Maeve adjusting to the distance between them. When Maeve sends Otis a nude photo, Otis is unsure about sending one in return. It’s coming. It’s coming. It’s about to climax. The fourth and final season of the hit Netflix raunchy comedy Sex Education is set to premiere later this month. And as part of the foreplay, Netflix has released a new trailer for the British show that stars Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey and Gillian Anderson. Set to the tune of Meatloaf’s popular (and meme-able) hit “I Would Do Anything For Love,” the season 4 trailer is light on plot elements and heavy on emotion. The series celebrates its curtain call by cheekily telling fans to “break out the tissues.”
The trailer has been released by Netflix and the official season 4 synopsis reads,
Following the closure of Moordale Secondary, Otis and Eric now face a new frontier – their first day at Cavendish Sixth Form College. Otis is nervous about setting up his new clinic, whilst Eric is praying they won’t be losers again.

One of Sex Education's biggest stars is speaking out about working on the Netflix juggernaut, revealing that he didn't always enjoy it.
Ncuti Gatwa has played Eric Effiong since Sex Education Season 1.
This week, the actor opened up in a Rolling Stone UK cover story about the highs and lows of working on the show.
For Ncutwi, it "wasn't always joyous." The actor also wasn't fond of the creative direction of the series.
"It was very hard; it was such a big show," Gatwa, who will next be seen in Barbie, told the outlet.
"When you're telling stories that haven't been seen before, there's always a battle as to how to tell them. It wasn't always joyous."

Netflix’s first teaser trailer for the upcoming fourth season of Sex Education was accompanied by bad news for the show’s fans. Season four will be the show’s final season.
In an interview with Netflix’s Tudum, series creator Laurie Nunn revealed the fourth season jumps forward a few months after the events of the season three finale.

The Moordale Secondary students are starting at a new school called Cavendish College, which is very different from Moordale. It’s very progressive and woke, and it makes the Moordale students feel like they’re little fish in a big pond,” explained Nunn.
Returning cast members include Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood, Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells, and Kedar Williams-Stirling. Mimi Keene, George Robinson, Chinenye Ezeudu, Dua Saleh, Alistair Petrie, Samantha Spiro,...

School is out for Emma Mackey now that the actress is leaving Netflix’s Sex Education after four seasons. Mackey confirmed her exit from the coming-of-age comedy series while attending the BAFTA Awards, where she won the Rising Star award for her outstanding performance in the laugh-out-loud drama.

Previously, Mackey said she’d have a minor role in Sex Education season 4, with Maeve traveling to America to live her dream at the prestigious Wallace University, where she’ll be taught by cult author Thomas Molloy (Dan Levy).
“It feels very familiar! And it’s a bit more sporadic because we have more characters. So there’s… I’m not in it as consistently,” Mackey said before filming Season 4. “But we’re...
