Dee Bryant jams on the gas as her Mustang rockets forward toward a line of plastic bollards at the Irwindale Speedway. Suddenly, she takes her foot off the gas. The growling car whips around 180 degrees in a perfect arc.
Veteran stuntwoman Bryant is a top driver and a rare Black woman rising through the ranks. She has doubled for Angela Bassett, Kerry Washington, and Regina King, among many others. She’s here demonstrating the prowess of the Mustang as the iconic car turns 60.

Magic is all around in the world of The Spiderwick Chronicles. Most of it is hidden away from the eyes of humans, tucked into obscure corners or shielded from human eyes by glamours. Still, those with hearts and minds open enough to see what’s in front of them — like our 15-year-old hero Jared (Lyon Daniels) — might find in the sleepy town of Henson, Michigan, a veritable haven of otherworldly life. Unicorns frolic in a glen. Sprites flutter alongside fireflies at dusk. Just outside the doors of a nondescript grocery, a goblin market trades in mythical weapons and pumpkin spice lattes.
But if such extraordinary sights are everywhere, the sense of wonder that ought to accompany them proves to be in disappointingly short supply. Even as The Spiderwick Chronicles‘ head drifts into the clouds, powered by fantasies of faeries and ogres and witches and dragons, the Roku Channel adventure is...

Katie Couric is reflecting on her former co-star Bryant Gumbel and their time on The Today Show.
The 67-year-old former anchor made an appearance on Bill Maher‘s Club Random podcast, and addressed his “sexist” attitude.
“He got mad at me because I was doing something on maternity leave and he was giving me endless s–t for taking a month or two off,” she revealed.
“I was having my first baby, and he was like, ‘Why don’t you just drop it in the field and come back?’ or something like that. He was kidding, but he was goofing on me and giving me a lot of s—t and it was emblematic of a sort of, incredibly sexist attitude.”
Keep reading to find out more…
While she called him a “seamless” and “eloquent” broadcasting talent, she also called Bryant a “prickly” person and a definite “guy’s guy.

When Ryan Gosling was first announced to host "Saturday Night Live" this weekend, most of us expected a giggle-heavy affair. His first two hosting gigs, from "Close Encounter" to "Terrezano's," had Gosling breaking in nearly every live sketch, so it was no surprise when Gosling broke constantly last night as well. What we didn't see coming was just how much the rest of the cast broke, especially in the sketch where a serious intellectual panel is interrupted by two guys in the audience who inexplicably look like Beavis and Butt-Head.
First we're introduced to Beavis, played by Ryan Gosling, who insists that he's not pulling a prank, that he's never heard of Beavis before, and has never been told how much he looks like him. It's an unlikely story, but Heidi Gardener's Bobbi Moore and Kenan Thompson's Professor Hemming are willing to move past it, so long as "Beavis...

Chris Rock made a tasteless comment when he compared his Oscar-hosting situation with the late Nicole Brown Simpson case. Rock was at the receiving end of Will Smith’s infamous Oscar slap that landed the latter a decade-long ban from the Academy. So when Rock was asked to host the 2023 Awards, it was clearly too soon, and Rock’s reply analogy turned out to be a little controversial.
Fargo actor Chris Rock made a tasteless joke about Nicole Brown Simpson while discussing his Oscar-hosting gig
During one of his standup specials, Rock shared that the Academy offered him the Oscars host role the very next year after the Slap. He shared that asking him to host was just like asking Nicole Brown Simpson to revisit the evidence against O.J. Simpson.

After weeks of testimony, two men — Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan Jr. — have been found guilty in the 2002 murder of Run-dmc DJ Jam Master Jay. Jurors delivered the verdict at the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn on Tuesday (February 27th).
Washington and Jordan each face a minimum of 20 years behind bars, with sentencing set for a later date.
The two men were indicted and charged in connection with the murder of Jam Master Jay (born Jason Mizell) in August 2020, with federal prosecutors alleging the shooting was the result of a cocaine deal gone bad. In court documents, US attorneys claimed that they conspired to kill Mizell after he excluded Washington from the deal.
In May 2023, the government charged another man named Jay Bryant in the murder case.

Tom Nitti’s time on The Voice was cut short last season as he chose to exit the competition amid a divorce and custody battle with his ex-wife, but the singer’s journey with the show isn’t over. However, it isn’t Nitti in the spotlight this time, but rather his girlfriend, Ashley Bryant, who will appear on Season 25. The pair met through the show last year (both Season 24 and 25 were filmed simultaneously); Nitti previously thanked The Voice for helping him meet the love of his life. “Thanks to @nbcthevoice I was able to live my wildest dreams and do what I’ve always hoped,” he wrote in a social media post last November. “I made friends that’ll last a life time, experiences that I can hold on to forever and even found Real and True love (@ashleybryantofficial).” Bryant, a country singer-songwriter from Louisville, Kentucky, took to Instagram on Monday,...

Film Independent posted up on Santa Monica Beach on Sunday to present its annual Spirit Awards, the biggest party for the independent film scene. While cameras captured the live show for a stream on YouTube, The Hollywood Reporter was inside the iconic white tent on the beach to bring you all the action you might’ve missed.

Arguably the biggest surprise at the 2024 Independent Spirit Awards was the small but loud protest over the ongoing Israel-Hamas war outside the ceremony, the chants from which could be heard inside the tent in Santa Monica and on the livestream on Film Independent’s YouTube channel.
The demonstration was the first to disrupt a major awards show this season.
But as host Aidy Bryant and presenters and winners forged ahead with the ceremony, some acknowledging the protest, there were still some surprises in terms of which films won which awards — or didn’t win.
After seemingly losing its awards momentum with the Screen Actors Guild and Oscar nominations last month, May December could’ve had a big day at the Spirit Awards, as the Todd Haynes film, starring Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, was up for five awards — the same number of nominations received by best feature and director...

Exclusive: As the horses near the starting gate for Saturday’s running of the Kentucky Derby, Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions has lined up twin projects about Rich Strike, the upset winner of last year’s race.
Omaha is teaming with Amazon Prime Video to develop both a documentary and a scripted film based on the improbable win by the 80-to-1 longshot. The projects center on trainer Eric Reed, who overcame tragedy to engineer one of the biggest stunners in the nearly 150-year history of the Derby.
The scripted feature is a first for Omaha, which Manning launched after retiring from the NFL in 2016. Earlier this week, Deadline was the first to report on the company’s first foray into scripted comedy at NBC. Peter Chernin-backed non-scripted specialist Words + Pictures is also a producer of the documentary project.
