Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2) has joined the cast of He Sees You When You’re Sleeping, a Christmas slasher slated to be released this holiday season by The Horror Collective.

Williams is joined by Nicholas Vince, mostly known for his role in Hellraiser as well as David Lenik (An English Haunting), Peyton Michelle Edwards (Goodbye Honey) alongside horror veterans Lauren Marie-Taylor (Friday the 13th Part 2).
He Sees You When You’re Sleeping comes from director Charlie Steeds, who produced with Tom Malloy under his Trick Candle Productions banner. Back in 1986, Caroline Williams played one of my all-time favorite horror final girls, “Stretch” in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. She has followed that with several more horror movie appearances, taking roles in the likes of Leprechaun 3, Blind, and the recent Nicolas Cage Dracula movie Renfield, among many others. Now The Horror Collective has announced that they’ll be bringing us a Christmas-set (and 80s-set) slasher called He Sees You When You’re Sleeping this holiday season, and Williams is in the cast of that movie as well!
Directed by Charlie Steeds, who is also producing the film with Tom Malloy under his Trick Candle Productions banner, He Sees You When You’re Sleeping has the following synopsis: A young man’s Christmas homecoming turns into a nightmare as a killer in a Santa suit gruesomely picks off his estranged, wealthy family for their fortune.

Oh my! I can see myself having to limit the range of movies I review even further. Currently, for those keeping tabs, I focus on action, comedy, sci-fi, documentary and…romcom!
After Weekenders, which bills itself as “a comedy drama about four people brought together by an Air BnB mix-up and prompted to re-evaluate their lives,” I might just have to rethink the latter. Because I just can’t cope with the will they/won’t they tension.
Like, we all know they will, because it is a romcom and that is what is meant to happen. That is what always happens. But the journey along the way is so, so fraught. My nerves really can’t take it.
The set-up is simple enough. Harper (Peyton Michelle Edwards) rents a remote cottage (?) in the wilds of Vermont in order to get away from civilisation for a bit. But, ooops! Mix-up alert!

Horror movies that involve a woman being abducted by a an and held hostage, usually go down the same route. We see the capture, the hostage part in a room usually hidden house and then the escape/attempted escape. Goodbye Honey thankfully tries to do things a bit different.
In it we see a young woman, Allison, escape her captor early on in the film and find her way to a truck stop, and the back of a truck owned by Dawn. Unsure whether to believe her story or not, Dawn and Allison eventually have to work together to get through the night.
The story is definitely one of the strong parts of Goodbye Honey, helping it feel fresh and original in a sub genre...

"Who do you think is hiding something?" Mainframe Pictures has released the official trailer for an indie dramedy titled Weekenders, the latest sweet & honest film from Ten Minutes to Midnight director Erik Bloomquist. This is debuting in theaters (!!) around the US this weekend, just in time for Valentine's Day. A scheduling mix-up at an Airbnb brings four twenty-somethings together, each navigating the open waters of where, how, and with whom they're supposed to be. As their long weekend progresses, the foursome is forced to contemplate their collective baggage, the value of prioritizing connection over convenience, and what happens when they all go home. Bloomquist wrote, directed and stars. The cast also features Peyton Michelle Edwards, Ehad Berisha, and Maggie McMeans. This looks like some amusing hipstercore (a cousin of mumblecore) about these youngsters trying to figure themselves out. Seems light & easy to enjoy. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Erik Bloomquist's Weekenders,...

She Came from the Woods is a brand-new short film written, directed, and produced by The Bloomquist Brothers (Erik and Carson); whose most-recent short, Ghost Tour, is currently on Crypt TV, and whose hard-boiled short film, The Cobblestone Corridor, we reviewed way back in 2015….
After a brief introduction, with the camp counselors all sitting round a campfire telling a scary story a la Are You Afraid of the Dark?, She Came From the Woods wastes no time getting to the horrific action. But with a running time of just over 12 minutes, there’s not that much time to begin with!
The set up is brief. There’s an urban legend that says you will call the evil spirt of Esther – a witch who...

Following on from the debut images released at the end of last month, Mainframe Pictures have unveiled the first trailer for She Came from the Woods, a brand-new short film written, directed, and produced by The Bloomquist Brothers; which sees a campfire story come to life for a group of counselors on the last day of summer at Camp Briarbrook…. Horror fans and longtime readers of Nerdly might recognise the name Bloomquist – one of the brothers, Erik Bloomquist, was the writer/director behind the fantastic short film The Cobblestone Corridor, which we reviewed way back in 2015.
Said the Bloomquists:
She Came from the Woods is inspired by our early influences — particularly Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark?. This show awakened our imaginations, fostering a feeling of boundless possibilities and heightened sensory experiences. Our passion for these things has been ever-presents since childhood. It is a feeling that we...
