Aniston’s production company will reportedly reimagine the hit 1980 Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton comedy about sexism in the workplace – with a script by Diablo Cody
Jennifer Aniston’s production company, Echo Films, are to reimagine classic comedy 9 to 5 for a modern day audience, according to reports first covered by The Insneider. The script is being written by Juno and Young Adult writer Diablo Cody.
No plot details have yet been revealed, but the 1980 original centred on three female colleagues in an office who team up to take revenge on their “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot” boss. Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton and Dabney Coleman starred in the film, which was scripted by Patricia Resnick with Colin Higgins, who also directed. It was based on an idea by Fonda, who commissioned the film as a vehicle for herself and Tomlin before bringing Parton on board.

‘Fantastic Four’ is generating a lot of buzz as the next big movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Recently, the release date and cast were revealed, confirming some long-standing rumors. Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby will portray Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach will be The Thing, and Joseph Quinn will take on the role of the Human Torch.
Although the main cast was announced earlier, there was still speculation about the supporting characters. According to Deadline, Julia Garner has been cast as Shalla-Bal, a female version of Silver Surfer. This casting choice adds weight to the idea that the movie might take place in an alternate universe, as discussed recently.
If you’re puzzled by us describing Shalla-Bal as a female version of Silver Surfer, you’re partly right. In the comics, she wasn’t Galactus’ Herald but rather the primary love interest of Norrin Radd.

‘Fantastic Four’ is currently the hottest upcoming MCU movie some time ago release date and cast were announced, confirming what we’ve known for quite a while. Pedro Pascal will be MCU’s new Reed Richards, with Vanessa Kirby taking on the role of Sue Storm. The Thing and the Human Torch will be played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn respectively.
Even though the main cast was announced relatively early we still had no idea who would play the supporting characters, now according to Deadline Julia Garner was cast as Shalla-Bal, a female version of Silver Surfer, which further supports the theory that this movie takes place in an alternate universe, which we recently wrote about.
Shala-Bal was fairly irrelevant Galactus Herald in the comics, she was first and foremost Radd’s love interest turn rogue.

Matt Shakman’s The Fantastic Four is reported to have hired Ozark star Julia Garner in the film. The film already has an ensemble cast in the form of Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon-Moss Bachrach. It will be the first depiction of the characters in the MCU and is rumored to be set in an alternate reality. The characters have had two iterations before.
Julia Garner has been cast as the Silver Surfer in the upcoming film, which seemingly has not gone down well with fans. Though it is speculated that she would be playing the role of Shalla-Bal, a female version of the supervillain in another reality, fans seem to be extremely upset with the gender-swapped role and criticized Marvel for the move.

What does it mean to be a strong woman? Is it visible muscles à la Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2: Judgment Day? Is it impressive feats of strength like climbing a mountain or braving white water? Is it putting yourself in harm’s way to save a friend? As it turns out, the answer is all–and none–of the above. There is no one way to be a “strong woman.” Sometimes it’s as simple as just showing up for the hard moments. Writer/director Neil Marshall explores the concept of female strength in his 2005 The Descent, a harrowing story of friendship and betrayal, strength and survival. In their latest episode, the Lady Killers kick off a series on Hidden Horrors by descending into the complicated themes of this terrifying film and facing off against the monsters lurking within the human heart.

Sci-fi blockbuster Dune: Part Two opens in 721 venues this weekend, carrying the hopes of many UK-Ireland cinemas after a slow start to 2024.
Denis Villeneuve’s sequel is Warner Bros’ fourth-widest opening of all time in the territory, after last year’s Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom (749) and Barbie (724), and 2022’s Elvis (746).
It is opening on 62 sites more than Dune, which started in 659 venues in October 2021. That film began with a £4.8m weekend at a £7,210 average, dethroning James Bond title No Time To Die. It went on to a £22.1m total – a decent result in a market still feeling the effects of the pandemic.

After more than half a decade of development, Netflix unveiled its highly anticipated live- action Avatar: The Last Airbender on Friday.
The show, adapted from Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko’s animated series that premiered in 2005, follows the beloved story of Aang, an Avatar who can bend all four elements — water, earth, fire and air — and is responsible for maintaining harmony in his universe’s four nations. Along the way, Aang befriends waterbender Katara and her brother Sokka as they work together to end the fire nation’s war against the other nations. Frequently, the group faces off against Zuko, a fire nation prince locked in an ongoing pursuit of Aang’s demise.
Though Netflix’s live-action approach to the story heads for darker themes than Nickelodeon’s animated original, the cast of kids at the show’s center maintains the story’s sense of childlike wonder that is so beloved by fans.

Rescued singularly by Tom Hardy and his utter commitment to his titular character of an alien symbiote with an attitude issue, Venom blew at the box office. But the sequel, directed by Andy Serkis, turned out to be the least passable spin on the buddy comedy. Right from the second installment, the Venom franchise gradually started degrading.
Tom Hardy in Venom (2018)
Being a part of the extended Spider-Man Universe, Tom Hardy’s Venom movies were supposed to have a larger fanbase, but unfortunately, they failed to make an impact. Now, after one hit and a mediocre sequel that barely stood a chance at the box office, Sony is back with a threequel. Starring Ted Lasso actress Juno Temple, the movie is said to be directed by Kelly Marcel. However, despite the stellar cast, fans are not convinced to watch the movie.

Boasting over 60 years of history due to its instantly-recognizable global appeal, the word "Barbie" holds a lot of power in shaping innumerable childhoods and worldviews. Greta Gerwig's audacious, refreshing take on this beloved IP in her latest film, "Barbie" will certainly enhance the brand's legacy and what it means to diverse demographics, but there's a reason why we're only getting a "Barbie" live-action movie 64 years after its product launch. While Barbie is a cultural staple, it is no easy task to weave a cinematic vision around its complicated legacy — any filmmaker interested in taking on this challenge would have to keep their commentary both fun and nuanced, while adding their own unique spin to the discourse in keeping with the times. Where Gerwig has succeeded, others were not so lucky.

Released back in 2013 ‘Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’ while not as successful as ‘Black Gives Way To Blue’ was nonetheless a massive success reaching No.2 at Billboard 200 beating out several rock, metal and even pop artistes, coming as a big surprise to many.

Now that John Williams is winding down with his prestigious career, one of the prominent blockbuster composers of the last couple of decades is Hans Zimmer. Most may know him from his work with Christopher Nolan, although Nolan has opted to work with Ludwig Göransson in his last two outings. Zimmer’s collaboration with Nolan on Inception even notably ushered in the trend of the “Bwaaam” musical sting that can be found in most trailers to help intensify and punctuate a dramatic turn.
Although Zimmer has had a career spanning many genres, his work is recognized chiefly from his big-budget sci-fi or action movies. Film Music Reporter has recently revealed that the maestro will be contributing his booming tones to the upcoming Gareth Edwards sci-fi film starring John David Washington titled The Creator. The official second trailer was recently posted online by 20th Century Studios and showcases a bleak future...

The official synopsis for The Creator reads:
Amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua (Washington), a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war… and mankind itself. Los Angeles, May 27 (Ians) Canadian actor Elliot Page has shared that he had a life-changing kiss with a girl at a gay bar three months before the film ‘Juno’ shot him to fame.
The 36-year-old actor and transgender campaigner – propelled to fame after playing pregnant teen Juno in Jason Reitman’s 2007 black comedy – came out as a trans man years after its release in 2020, and said until the encounter at the nightspot he had been riddled with “shame” over his identity, reports ‘Female First UK’.
Elliot said in an extract from his new memoir ‘Page Boy’, obtained by ‘People’ magazine about his visit to the gay bar aged 20 with a woman named Paula: “The sound of her voice radiated warmth, a kindness. It wasn’t so much that her eyes lit up but that they found you. I could feel her looking.”
He further mentioned, quoted by ‘Female First UK’, “We went to Reflections.

From the beautiful mind of Rogue One and Godzilla director Gareth Edwards comes another science-fiction epic that’s as thought-provoking as it is visually splendiferous. 20th Century Studios, New Regency, and Entertainment One have released a trailer for The Creator, opening in theaters on September 29. The Creator trailer depicts a world ravaged by a war between humankind and machine. If anyone wants to survive, they’ll need to adapt, fight back, and question what kind of world they want to live in.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Creator:

That scene between Keeley and Jack was potentially the roughest moment in episode 9 of the third season of "Ted Lasso." Thanks in large part to the performances of both Juno Temple and Jodi Balfour, the scene highlighted a key moment when the honeymoon phase of new love dies. Though this time, it was at the hands of an ideological choice made by Balfour's Jack, rather than an external force.
Balfour opened up about the scene during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, revealing that, despite the tone of the scene, it was one of the more memorable moments on set for her. "That last scene between us, which is awful and devastating, was actually the highlight. It's a series of scenes that we shot in almost real-time, even though it doesn't play that way," the actor explained to THR. "The moment Jack arrives and Keeley is playing at the table.

This post contains spoilers for season 3 of "Ted Lasso."
One of the most beloved characters on "Ted Lasso" is Keeley (Juno Temple), the ambitious, bubbly woman who, in season 3, is at the head of her own PR film and finds herself inexplicably broken up with Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein).
It's hard to imagine Keeley played by anyone else besides Temple, and it turns out that there's a reason for that: the writers changed how they wrote Keeley once Temple was brought on board.
In a March 2023 interview with Collider, Goldstein — who is also a writer on the show — shared that he has nothing but praise for his co-star and that he was even a little bit intimidated by her at first. "I was scared of working with Juno Temple because she's such a great actor," he confessed. The two soon found their rhythm, however, and the show has become better for it.

The Weeknd took the Junos by storm last night.
The annual Canadian music awards show’s opening night took place on Saturday, hosted by “Run The Burbs” star and co-creator Andrew Phung and CBC Music radio host Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe.
Fourty awards were handed out to artists including The Weeknd, who led the pack with artist of the year; songwriter of the year and pop album of the year for Dawn FM; and single of the year for “Sacrifice”. He didn’t attend the ceremony in-person to receive the awards.

The artist also led nominations at last’s years show, where he was nominated in six categories. With his wins in 2015, 2016 and 2021, The Weeknd now ties Bryan Adams for the second-most Juno wins of all time with 21 awards.
Anne Murray still holds the record at 25 wins.

Before "Ted Lasso," Juno Temple was known for dramas. The actress who is now instantly recognizable as model-turned-businesswoman Keeley Jones cut her teeth with roles in movies like "The Other Boleyn Girl," playing Viscountess Jane Boleyn, and the Oscar winner "Atonement," where she took on the role of the victimized teen at the center of a reputation-ruining scandal. Turns in "Magic Mike" and "The Dark Knight Rises" put her on the map, but also didn't particularly scream "comedic actress." So when Temple got the script for "Ted Lasso," she was apparently a little confused.
"I read [the Ted Lasso script] and I thought it was genius," Temple told Marie Claire in a 2021 interview. "But I genuinely thought [Sudeikis] may have thought I was somebody else. Because I'm definitely not known for comedy stuff." Sudeikis, already a friend of Temple's, reportedly texted her asking if she'd like to read the pilot script for the show, which...

Though moviegoers and filmmakers alike may sometimes think of Hollywood as a purveyor of art and entertainment, the industry is, above all, a business. This means that the bottom line is of the utmost importance to studio executives, which, unfortunately, sometimes leads to decisions that don't produce a favorable outcome for viewers. Case in point: movie sequels. When a film is a hit, producers start itching to replicate its success, and sequels are seen as the best way to do that. However, not all follow-ups are made equal, and things sometimes get left behind in the rush to generate another box office smash.
Strict continuity isn't necessarily the most vital element in making a great sequel, but a little cohesion doesn't hurt. The examples we've compiled below are sequels that completely ignore the previous installment(s) in the series, much to the consternation of dedicated fans. In some cases, re-writing...

Adam Brody isn’t letting the discord around “Jennifer’s Body” die off just yet.
Almost 15 years since the 2009 film was released, Brody is calling out the bad marketing campaign surrounding the satirical high school horror movie. “Jennifer’s Body” followed a queen bee (Megan Fox) whose friendship with her best pal (Amanda Seyfried) is put to the test after she is part of a botched Satanic sacrifice led by a local rocker (Brody) and starts devouring teen boys. The film was written by “Juno” scribe Diablo Cody, directed by Karyn Kusama (“Yellowjackets”), and is now considered an iconic feminist horror film.
“To have it receive such tepid reviews – and in a way, to be a punching bag – felt shitty,” Brody told The Independent. “It wasn’t my movie, so I didn’t take the brunt of it, but it still felt a little unjust.”
Brody continued, “[The marketing] couldn’t have missed the mark harder.

It’s been two decades since he first broke out as the comically meek George Michael Bluth on TV in Arrested Development and 16 years since he became the cinematic face of hilariously awkward teens as Evan in high-school comedy smash Superbad.
While these are often two of his most talked about roles — together with perhaps Juno and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World — Michael Cera has been quietly amassing an impressively eclectic body of work over the years, appearing in Molly’s Game and This Is the End (as a Rihanna ass-slapping cokehead), voicing Robin in The Lego Batman Movie, earning a Tony nomination for his leading part in Kenneth Lonergan’s Broadway revival of his own play Lobby Hero and even landing one of the wildest cameos on David Lynch’s already wild Twin Peaks revival. Most recently he’s been seen regularly alongside Amy Schumer in her acclaimed rom-com series Life & Beth on Hulu,...

There’s something inherently terrifying about subterranean horror. Getting trapped underground creates a tense survival scenario thanks to various dangers. But what about what’s lurking in the dark? Survival horror with carnivorous creatures provides fertile ground for fear.
Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, The Descent) is back with the brand new underground monster movie The Lair, which comes to theaters and on Digital and VOD on October 28, 2022.
In The Lair, “Royal Air Force pilot Lt. Kate Sinclair (Charlotte Kirk) is shot down over Afghanistan and finds refuge in an abandoned underground bunker where deadly man-made biological weapons – half human, half alien – are awakened.”
Jonathan Howard (Thor: The Dark World) and Jamie Bamber (“Battlestar Galactica”) also star.
Charlotte Kirk co-wrote the screenplay with Neil Marshall.
In anticipation of Marshall’s return to the subterranean creature feature, we look back at eight horror movies that feature underground monsters.

The Movie: "The Descent" (2005)
Where You Can Stream It: Paramount+
The Pitch: Well before the rise of the "It's actually about trauma" trend in horror and the Jamie Lee Curtis meme that came with it, there was "The Descent."
In Neil Marshall's suffocating, dismal, gooey 2005 subterranean survival movie, there aren't any masked, stab-happy killers tip-toeing about, nor is there a supernatural curse being passed from one individual to another. The only "trauma" in the film is the very literal kind that exists in its characters' heads. It's the type they can't escape no matter where they go and no matter what they do. And when a battle with monsters in the real world forces them to come face-to-face with their inner demons,...
