The Walking Dead maker Skybound Entertainment is pushing into the unscripted game.
The firm has hired ex-Catalina Content exec Brent Jacoby to head up the new division, which will tap into pre-existing Skybound IP such as AMC smash The Walking Dead and Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible.
Jacoby will be focused on quickly expanding the global unscripted TV slate, although Skybound didn’t delve any deeper into his strategy. He joins at the same time as former MGM TV VP Chris Goble, who takes up the newly-created SVP of Television role. Both will report to TV President Glenn Geller.
Jacoby joins from Sky Studios-backed Catalina where he developed the likes of The Mighty Underdogs for Discovery+. Prior to that, he led the development team for ITV America’s Outpost Entertainment, working for the likes of Discovery, A&e, Food Network and Science Channel including History’s Knife or Death.

Exclusive: Walking Dead maker Skybound Entertainment has struck what it is calling a “first-of-its-kind” deal with Prime Video over a dystopian thriller series from Scandinavia.
Amazon has taken rights in the Nordics for Vaka but Skybound retains worldwide distribution and controls the show’s “global commissioning structure.” This means Skybound can strike deals with buyers and sellers in different territories while the door remains open for Prime Video to acquire Vaka for other regions further down the line.
Set in Stockholm and starring Aliette Opheim and Jonas Karlsson, Vaka follows the spread of a deadly insomnia epidemic. A disgraced minister must balance addressing the crisis and caring for his son, while an ambulance nurse goes to great lengths to save her lover.
The show is co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Unlimited Stories and Sagafilm, the latter of which was acquired by Skybound and 5th Planet Games last year. The Icelandic...

Exclusive: Walking Dead maker Skybound Entertainment has backed the rebranded French indie run by former France Télévisions commissioner Médéric Albouy.
Skybound has taken a minority investment in and entered into a strategic partnership with Scenario42, which was previously called 247Max. Médéric Albouy
Scenario42 produced French drama Polar Park, which launched on Arte last month. Upcoming shows include The Anomaly penned by Hervé Le Tellier, which is being adapted for TV by filmmaker Antonin Baudry, art thriller The Genius, co-produced with Laurence Fishburne’s Cinema Gypsy Productions, and The Storyteller, a French-language prestige TV movie.
Albouy launched 247 with Oscar-nominated producers Xavier Rigault and Marc-Antoine Robert of sister company 247 Films in 2019. He is a former commissioner for France Télévisions, where he was head of drama co-productions.
