Ian Eliot LeWinter was born September 18, 1959 in San Francisco, California but grew up in Nyack, New York, the eldest son of a poet and world-class hoaxer (if that's not the same thing). He always wanted to know why people do the things they do, at first to quell the cacophony of his own inner turmoil, and then later, to satirically challenge some of the worlds disquiet.
As a child, Ian frolicked in the rich intricate stories of Tolkien, the poetry of Poe, the sounds of Yes and ELP, first from the lips of his mother and then annually on his own.
In high school Ian's true education (or so he says) began with Jonathan Swift's A Modest Proposal For Preventing the Children of Poor People in Ireland from Being a Burden to Their Parents or Country, and for Making Them Beneficial to the Public. Fascinated by the idea that someone would suggest cannibalism and infanticide as a solution to economic woe and in the same argument lambaste the privileged, lit the raging creative spark in Ian's belly and inspired his love for satire.
