Ray Donovan will join in the fun two weeks later with its seventh season landing a November 17 premiere date.
More surprising, the dark drama series will be airing at the earlier time of 8/7c.

Jim Carrey is nothing if not unpredictable, and while few were surprised to learn the king of slapstick comedy films had decided to foray into television like many other Hollywood stars, some were shocked by the poignancy and depth of his latest role as Jeff Piccirillo, aka Mr. Pickles, in the Showtime comedy “Kidding.” As Mr. Pickles, Carrey plays the beloved host of a children’s series whose personal life is turned upside down following a tragic event that takes the life of his son.

This episode ably summarized Steve and Danny's relationship.
Also two totally unexpected characters from the past returned Hawaii Five-0 Season 9 Episode 21.
Sadly, it wasn't Chin and Kono.
Instead, it was Ricky Schiff and Mr. Pickles from Hawaii Five-0 Season 5 Episode 17.
Nope, no one ever expected (nor cared) to see the fledgling weed peddler/exotic-pet dealer and the cat ever again.
They got thrown together with Danny and McGarrett under the most tragic of circumstances.

Jim Carrey's Mr. Pickles will continue teaching children how to be nice to each other as Showtime has confirmed Kidding season 2.
Please don't use a bad word when you can use a good word, a generation of children were taught on the children's show Mr. Pickles' Puppet Time. Dave Holstein began writing his spec TV script in 2010 with five words: "Jeff Pickles, think Jim Carrey."
Though the idea from the former Weeds scribe would evolve through the writing process, Jeff Pickles remained the core: a Mister Rogers-esque kids' TV personality whose family life implodes. The series — a half-hour in length, a dramedy in tone — would capture Mr. Pickles' struggle to square his irreproachable public persona with his private misery.
Carrey was not simply atop Holstein's wish list; he was the only actor on it. "I had been obsessed with Jim's performances ...

There’s no question about it: What worked on screen in regards to comedy a few years ago, isn’t clicking anymore as the genre makes its way to the exits for a place on streaming or cable.
A majority of major studio comedies over the last two years, with the exception of Girls Trip, Bad Moms, and Sausage Party, haven’t worked. This summer alone three comedies didn’t find a wide audience: New Line’s Life of the Party ($52.8M) and Lionsgate’s Uncle Drew ($41.8M) and The Spy Who Dumped Me (which didn’t open at $12.1M last weekend).
At the Cannes Film Festival last year, Ben Stiller expounded on the challenges of the genre, the catch 22 of going streaming over the big screen, and how hard it would be in the current climate to launch some of his iconic titles like Tropic Thunder.

It’s been 14 years since “Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind” helped change the world’s perception of Jim Carrey from a blockbuster movie star to a bonafide awards contender, and now he’s reuniting with the director who helped guide his performance to new heights. “Kidding,” the new Showtime drama from Carrey and Michel Gondry, is set to debut in September, and the team stopped by the Television Critics Association summer press tour to discuss their revived collaboration.
“He was the linchpin,” Carrey said. “I was incredibly interested in the material, but when Michel came on board I was like, ‘I get to play with a teammate.’ It was a thrill.”
The two haven’t worked together since 2004, and Gondry noticed how their on-set dynamic shifted between the two projects.

Jim Carrey discussed what it was that drew him to the Showtime series “Kidding” at the TCA summer press tour on Monday.
“The search for identity is a theme that’s always been attractive to me,” Carrey said. “There’s definitely something in this piece that calls to me.” Carrey went on to say that the show touches on the idea of “trying to hang on to the idea of the self.”
“Kidding” centers on Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles (Carrey), an icon of children’s television and a beacon of kindness and wisdom to America’s impressionable young minds and the parents who grew up with him. But when this beloved personality’s family begins to implode, Jeff finds no fairytale, fable or puppet will guide him through this crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. Michel Gondry is unleashing Jim Carrey’s ultra-wild side in “Kidding,” the new comedy series premiering on Showtime this September. The series marks a reunion between the “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” collaborators and co-stars Frank Langella, Catherine Keener, and Judy Greer.
“Kidding” stars Carrey as Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles, an icon of children’s television thanks to his “Mr. Rogers”-style television show and the head of a multimillion-dollar branding empire. Jeff’s family life implodes and he spirals out of control. The trailer provides a surreal and manic look at Jeff’s descent, which includes engaging in a sexual act with a puppet (which we can only hope is imagined).
“Kidding” premieres Sunday, September 9 at 10 p.m. Et on Showtime. Watch the official trailer below.

After nearly 25 years, Jim Carrey is returning to television as a series regular in Showtime’s Kidding.
Jim Carrey has made cameo appearances in tv series such as The Office and 30 Rock but has not been a series regular since being a cast member on In Living Color in 1994.
