The 10-part Roku original “Ten Weeks” is produced by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Television and We Are the Mighty. The series follows five young Americans through 10 weeks of basic training, showing their transformation from civilians into soldiers. The series marks the first time in more than two decades that the U.S. Army has allowed cameras to capture an unfiltered look at basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, according to producers.

Screenwriter Marcella Ochoa is giving a voice to countless Mexican American women who have been forcefully sterilized in the United States with her Amazon Prime Video and Blumhouse collaboration Madres. With help from lead actress Ariana Guerra, the pair tackled a real-life horror story using the genre as a tool to bring awareness to a social justice cause that was inspired by Jordan Peele’s 2017 hit Get Out.
Madres tells the story of Mexican American couple Diana (Guerra) and Beto (Tenoch Huerta) who have just relocated to a farming community in California. Diana’s pregnancy becomes mysteriously complicated and she isn’t the first to struggle while pregnant in her adopted town. All roads lead Diana to confusion and imminent danger as she begins to unravel strange occurrences that may be related to a legendary curse, or something more sinister. Madres is currently available to stream via Amazon Prime Video.

The film directed by Brent Hodge will feature interviews with Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah, as well as influencer Billy the Fridge, journalist Christie Smythe (a former journalist who ditched her former life for Shrekli) and Shkreli’s attorney Ben Brafman. Blumhouse Television produced alongside Hodgee Films.

The film, from executive producers Jason Blum and Ryan Murphy, will debut on the streaming service in August. Prior to its arrival on Netflix, “Pray Away” will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 16.
“Pray Away” was initially slated to open at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival, which was paused in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. This year’s edition will run from June 9 through 20 and will be held across New York City’s five boroughs.
Kristine Stolakis directed the film in her feature filmmaking debut. The doc examines the enduring harm of conversion therapy and centers on former leaders of religious anti-gay campaigns. It also focuses on survivors, who seek healing and acceptance from more than a decade of trauma.

Exclusive: Oscar-nominated actress Adriana Barraza is set to serve up some scares in the next slate of films in the horror anthology Welcome To The Blumhouse at Amazon studios. The influential Mexican actress will star in Bingo directed and co-written by rising genre filmmaker Gigi Saul Guerrero. The film is currently in production.
The collaboration is a Latinx-driven narrative that includes two generations of Mexican artists. In this case, it is legendary veteran actress Barraza and the up and comer Guerrero. This is a major win as we have seen a severe lack of Latinx representation in film and TV.
Set in the barrio of Oak Springs, Bingo follows a strong and stubborn group of elderly friends who refuse to be gentrified. Barraza plays the leader of the pack, Lupita, a “chingona” (aka bad ass) who grew up in the neighborhood formerly filled with crime and dangerous characters.

Directed by Clara Aranovich (Into the Dark: How to Succeed in Business Without Really Dying) from a teleplay by Pechman, Tentacles stars Dana Drori (Freaky), Casey Deidrick (In the Dark), Evan Williams (Versailles), and Kasey Elise (North Hollywood).
Described as a "psychosexual horror-thriller," Tentacles will premiere on Hulu beginning Friday, February 12th, just in time for Valentine's Day weekend!

Hulu and Blumhouse Television set their next installment of “Into the Dark”: “Tentacles,” anchored to Valentine’s Day, to premiere Feb. 12, Variety has learned exclusively.
Dana Drori, Casey Deidrick, Evan Williams and Kasey Elise star in the psychosexual horror-thriller film, which comes from a story by Alexandra Pechman and Nick Antosca and a teleplay by Pechman. It is directed by Clara Aranovich.
In “Tentacles,” couple Tara (Drori) and Sam (Deidrick) fall head over heels into a new romance and entwine their lives — until their intimacy transforms into something terrifying. The film is said to take inspiration from “the rushes of early intimacy and uncertain power dynamics at play, and the dangers of losing yourself,” and it will also present “a twist on gender roles in modern horror.”
“Tentacles” is the first “Into the Dark” title to launch in half a year: The most recent installment of “Into the Dark” was “The Current Occupant,...

Chris McCumber has found his landing spot after his exit from NBCUniversal. He will take over Blumhouse TV as president, it was announced Monday.
Last month, Marci Wiseman left Blumhouse TV where she and Jeremy Gold served as co-presidents of the TV division of Jason Blum’s company. Gold will now serve as president of production.
McCumber left NBBUniversal after a long tenure running USA Network and, more recently, Syfy. An individual with knowledge of his decision told TheWrap that NBCU had tried to find a new role for him but that McCumber was ready for a new challenge.
Blumhouse has a first-look film deal with NBCU’s Universal Pictures.
