Origins is a recurring series giving artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, Chris Shiflett takes us through “Damage Control,” the latest single from his upcoming album, Lost at Sea.
Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett has revealed his newest solo record, Lost at Sea, will be out October 20th via Blue Élan Records. Along with the announcement, Consequence is exclusively premiering his new single, “Damage Control.”
Lost at Sea was recorded primarily in Nashville with producer Jaren Johnston of the Cadillac Three. Other collaborators on the album include fellow guitarists Charlie Worsham, Tom Bukovac, and Nathan Keeterle. See the artwork and tracklist below.
Featuring a laidback tone, shuffling rhythm section, and country rock embellishments, Shiflett has affectionally dubbed “Damage Control” as “Ska-mericana.” An amalgamation of the songwriter’s stylistic interests, Shifflet points to acts like The Clash as one of the primary influences...

2022's "Scream 5" reinvigorated the horror franchise, which seemed to have ended with "Scream 4" in 2011. It was no small task, especially considering its legendary original director, Wes Craven, died in 2015. Its new directors, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett - the duo behind production company Radio Silence who made "Ready or Not" in 2019 - have openly expressed their love and loyalty to the Scream franchise, so while the new Scream films do explore new aspects of the horror genre to fit the 21st century, you can be sure they still have plenty of connections to the original films that fans will recognize almost immediately.
Are the New Scream Movies a Sequel Series, or a Reboot Series?
Officially, 2022's "Scream" wasn't titled "Scream 5," but "Scream," making it a little unclear if it was a reboot. But 2023's new movie is "Scream 6," making it even more obvious that this is...

This post contains minor spoilers for "Scream VI."
The "Scream" franchise has moved beyond its original director Wes Craven, who sadly passed away in 2015 (leaving the horror guru's final feature film as 2011's "Scream 4"). However, that doesn't mean the new stewards of the series, directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (collectively known as Radio Silence), are looking to forget him.
Quite the contrary; in 2022's "Scream" there is a scene that features a party honoring one of the victims of Ghostface, Wes Hicks (Dylan Minnette). In slyly clever fashion, the party allows the film and filmmakers to stage a tribute to Craven on a meta referential level, with the banner "For Wes" doubling as a dedication to the departed director.
The latest installment, "Scream VI," heavily features the series' new cast of characters and moves the action to New York City, yet the references to Craven are far from finished.

There's new blood in Woodsboro. Over two decades since the first Scream spawned a franchise and subsequent cult following, a fifth installment is on the way, introducing audiences to a fresh set of leads. And while several legacy cast members are returning, the upcoming relaunch, also titled Scream, will invariably mark a new chapter, as it's the first one not directed by genre legend Wes Craven, who died in 2015. Instead, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who previously directed Ready or Not, have stepped in.
The directors are not alone in their newness. Joining regulars like Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox are nine newcomers who will face off against whoever has slipped on the Ghostface mask this time. What's also notably different from when the franchise began in 1996 is that nearly each new actor now has a childhood or adolescent memory attached to the franchise and a deep reverence for it as a result,...
