Jovanni Nino Koolen
- Editorial Department
- Editor
During his high school education at the Werkplaats in Bilthoven, Nino won a Junior Golden Calf at a competition of the Dutch Film Festival. After high school he discovered, thanks to a pre-uni year at Open Studio and an internship at MT Mediagroep, that his passion lies in editing. Bringing images and sound together to create a new reality is the most beautiful thing there is.
At the Netherlands Film Academy Nino edited the documentary Monnik voor een Maand (2017, Jennifer Gijrath) and the short fiction film Katinka's Laatste Grap (2017, Casper Buijtendijk). Nino also edited the HKU production Femme (2017, Emma Branderhorst), a short fiction film that was selected for Shortcutz Amsterdam, Rotterdam Open Doek, and the Go Ahead program of Go Short 2018 - International Short Film Festival in Nijmegen.
During his internship Nino assisted editor Boelie Vis with the television film Gelukzoekers (2018, Hanro Smitsman) and drama series De Zuidas (2018, Nicole van Kilsdonk & Aaron Rookus).
He graduated from the Film Academy editing the documentaries The Long Road Home (2018, Jennifer Gijrath) and The Soap of Life (2018, Sjoerd Niekamp). Since 2018 Nino has been working as a freelance editor in the Netherlands.
