Disney on Monday released the first trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King.
Directed by Barry Jenkins, the music-filled film serves as both an origin story and follow-up to Jon Favreau’s 2019 photorealistic movie The Lion King. That film was based on the 1994 Disney animated classic of the same name.
Along with the trailer release, it was revealed that Blue Ivy Carter will make her film debut voicing Kiara, daughter of King Simba and Queen Nala, while her mother, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, will reprise her role as Nala from the 2019 film.
The new film, which hits theaters Dec. 20, will tell the backstory of Simba’s father, Mufasa, an orphan who grew up to be a wise, powerful and compassionate ruler.
The official logline is as follows: “Mufasa: The Lion King enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick.

We all know by now how popular the 80s are in modern day. The nostalgia of the past is a huge selling point in media, be it video games, books, TV shows or, indeed, movies. Well festive film 8-Bit Christmas follows suit as the adult Jake Doyle (Neil Patrick Harris) tells his daughter the story of child Jake Doyle (Winslow Fegley) and his attempt to get hold of a Nintendo Entertainment System back in the 80s. The film is told with Harris’s narration on top, for the most-part, in a flashback style. A Christmas movie set in the eighties with a story centered around a child that is desperate to a Nintendo Entertainment System (Nes for short) as his main present?! 8-Bit Christmas is one of those movies that seems made for me (and I’m sure many other people of a similar age). In fact it could almost be written about me too – again, I’m sure there’s plenty of people that feel the same! Getting past the nostalgia though, can this movie remain entertaining.
The story is told through Neil Patrick Harris, as Jake, as an adult in modern day. He introduces his daughter to the Nes and then tells her the story of how he got it.

OWN’s new legal drama, Delilah, has retained no fewer than 14 series regulars and recurring players.
From Greenleaf creator Craig Wright, who serves as executive producer along with Charles Randolph-Wright and Oprah Winfrey, Delilah stars Maahra Hill as a lawyer who left a demanding white-shoe law firm a decade ago and hung up her own shingle, so she could make raising her kids her No. 1 priority. Now she takes on cases the big firms ignore and finds herself, more often than not, going head-to-head with the powerful and privileged as she fights for the disenfranchised.
