Even if you don’t know his name, you know Nineteen85’s sound.
The Grammy-winning Toronto producer has helmed some of Drake’s biggest and most out-of-the-box hits, from the disco-pop haze of “Hold On, We’re Going Home” to the multicultural flex of “One Dance.” He’s also one half of Ovo Sound R&b duo Dvsn, responsible for the soul-wrenching beats behind their many jams. He’s got production credits on Mariah Carey, Future and Travis Scott tracks too.

Come to think of it, by now, you really should know this guy’s name. So Nineteen85 is doing his part to make sure you don’t forget it. He says he’ll soon start releasing songs under his own moniker, a la DJ Khaled or Murda Beatz, made with several artists “all over the board.” Consider it a personal branding exercise.

The season 3 finale of Lil Dicky’s “Dave” delivered an all-star extravaganza featuring guest appearances by Rachel McAdams, Brad Pitt and Drake, who hailed the show as “one of the most important of our generation.”
Booking such massive stars for a series sounds like a nearly impossible feat, but Lil Dicky, real name Dave Burd, who co-created the series, revealed to Rolling Stone how he accomplished acquiring such A-listers.
“A guy like Brad Pitt isn’t going to get in a show that he doesn’t think is one of the best shows. Because I have this show out, it’s a lot easier for a guy on Brad’s level to believe in it,” he said to the publication.

In 1996, hotelier Ian Schrager, along with SkyBar’s Rande Gerber and designer Philippe Starck opened the 30-foot “doors to Wonderland,” as the Los Angeles Times put it, with the Morgans Hotel Group transformation of the Mondrian Hotel.
The L.A. Times described the vibe as “chilled glamour achieves a dreamlike sensuality. … Its public spaces … are fashionable playpens for people who want to be seen. Sited across from the House of Blues at what will be Sunset’s most invigorated corner, the Mondrian is Schrager’s most ambitious and enchanting space to date.”
In 1999, on the heels of their success in New York City with the same concept, restaurateur Jeffrey Chodrow debuted Asia de Cuba as the hotel’s signature dining spot and it became an instant hit, calling down the glitterati from the hills and beckoning the wannabes from all over.

Shenseea continues to break records; she is the first female dancehall artist to hit Billboard's Hot 100 in 17 years and the first female Jamaican artist to perform on the Rolling Loud stage in both Miami and New York. On top of that, she is also the sole female rapper featured on Kanye West's Grammy-nominated album, "Donda," with songs "Pure Souls" and "Ok Ok Pt. 2." With that, it is only fitting that her debut album is titled "Alpha."

Post Malone is facing a new lawsuit from musician and songwriter Tyler Armes, who claims he was not properly credited or paid for the work he did on Post’s hit single, “Circles.”
The suit, obtained by Rolling Stone, accuses the rapper, whose real name is Austin Post, and his producer Frank Dukes of a “bad faith refusal to accord Tyler Armes the credit and share of the profits he is due as a co-writer of the song ‘Circles.'” It alleges that Post Malone has “freely admitted that Armes co-wrote ‘Circles,...

PnB Rock, Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz have teamed up for a new song named after the famed Italian brand, “Fendi.” The song’s release closely coincides with the launch of Minaj’s Fendi Prints On Collection, which launches in October, as Elle reports.
The Fendi love comes as no surprise to Minaj fans, as the rapper has worn the brand and also coined the “Fendi prints on” phrase in her 2018 song, “Chun-Li,” which appears on her latest album, Queen. The animated artwork from the artists’ song teaser also features...

Lauren Jauregui has followed up her debut solo single with the assertive, flossy new song “More Than That.” The 22-year-old’s first full-length album outside of girl group Fifth Harmony is due later this year.
On the smooth R&B track, Jauregui rebukes the advances of showy special someone while asserting her independence and worth. “You gon’ have to come stronger than this liquor/Wanna take me home, better be more convincing/It’ll take more than that to get to me,” she sings on the single’s chorus above a Murda Beatz loop.

Nicki Minaj gets a special shout-out on Quavo's new album, Quavo Huncho. Unfortunately, Minaj probably would have preferred he didn't mention her at all. "Huncho Dreams," produced by DigitalNas and Murda Beatz, is being regarded as Quavo's response to Minaj's "Barbie Dreams," in which she calls out male rappers ranging from 50 Cent to Lil' Wayne. In the single—which Minaj says is not a diss track—she raps, "Somebody go and make sure Karrueche okay, though / I heard she think I'm tryna give the coochie to Quavo / They always wanna beat it up, goon up the p---y / Man, maybe I should let him auto-tune up the p---y." In response, Quavo exposes Minaj and their long-rumored...

The school-aged doppelgängers of 2 Chainz, Drake, Migos’ Quavo and producer Murda Beatz break out of detention and stir up chaos in their lighthearted “Bigger Than You” video.
The clip opens with the rappers’ child proxies strutting around the school and throwing papers around a classroom. After restraining their teacher with duct tape, the quartet rap on library tables, party in the hallways and dance with teachers. Director Nathan R. Smith captures the scenes with a childlike zeal, utilizing forced perspective and swaying camera movements.

Gucci Mane released a boastful single, “Kept Back,” on Thursday. The song features a verse from Soundcloud rapper Lil Pump and production from Murda Beatz, who also produced Drake’s Number One single “Nice for What.”
A recorder worthy of a renaissance fair drifts lazily through the song, coasting on top of a crushing bass line. Gucci Mane raps in a straightforward monotone, filling his lines with references to famous figures in popular culture: Cher, Bono, Nelly Furtado, Marge Simpson and Ben Simmons. Lil Pump is a bracing addition to the track,...

There isn’t much movement this week at the top of the charts. Drake is number-one for the fourth week on the Billboard 200 albums chart with “Scorpion.” And he’s number-one for the third straight week on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart dated August 4 with the viral “In My Feelings.” But can Post Malone overtake him anytime soon? He climbs into the top five with “Better Now” from his latest album “Beerbongs and Bentleys.” Watch the video above to see who else made the top 10.
It might be hard for Post Malone — or anyone for that matter — to deal with Drake’s “Feelings.” Not only is it the top song in the country, it has posted the two biggest streaming weeks for any song in history. This week alone it logged 106.2 million on-demand listens, which is down 8% from the previous week when it broke the record.

Drake joined his friends as they made it rain at a release party for his new album Scorpion in Miami on Friday night. The bash took place at the E11Even Miami. Drake showed up around 4:30 and entered via a side door, an eyewitness told E! News. He arrived with a crew of about 50 people from his Ovo record label, including fellow rapper PartyNextDoor and producer and songwriter Murda Beatz. The group had a blast at the party, throwing money in the air from their VIP table. The DJ played Drake's entire Scorpion album. The rapper himself, however, did not jump on the microphone or even address the crowd and did not interact with any of the women. He...

The long-awaited new album by Drake has arrived. “Scorpion” clocks in at 25 tracks, 12 on side A and 13 on side B, and features guest appearances by Jay-z (“Talk Up”), Static Major and Ty Dolla Sign (“After Dark”) and a previously unreleased vocal by Michael Jackson which leads the hook to the song “Don’t Matter to Me.”
Credited elsewhere on the album are Nicki Minaj, Future and Paul Anka, the 76-year-old crooner known for classics like “Puppy Love” and “Put Your Head on My Shoulder” and a longtime collaborator of Jackson’s.
The album also seems to confirm rumors that Drake has fathered a son, acknowledging his newborn child in the track “Emotionless” and “March 14,” in which he raps “kiss my son on the forehead.” Other references include lyrics about George Zimmerman and Malcolm X.
Within an hour of its release, “Scorpion” shot up to No. 1 on the iTunes chart and on Apple Music.
