Zach Bryan has returned with “Pink Skies,” his first official single of 2024. Stream the track below.
On the country ballad, Bryan pays tribute to the loved ones who are no longer with us and encourages younger listeners to take advantage of their youth. “The kids are in town for a funeral,” he sings. “So pack the car and dry your eyes/ I know they got plenty of young blood left in ’em/ And plenty nights under pink skies.”

The country music world shared the stage at the 2024 ACM Awards, where Post Malone performed songs from his upcoming country album, Dua Lipa joined Chris Stapleton for a duet, and Avril Lavigne and Noah Kahan partnered with country musicians onstage.
It almost felt like Beyoncé — who recently made history on the country charts with Cowboy Country — might pop up. She didn’t Thursday night, but host Reba McEntire did reference Queen Bey’s historic project during her opening monologue.
“We’re here to talk about country music and how everyone is invited and welcome here at country music’s party of the year. From Mother Maybelle to Cowboy Carter, country music is so big in 2024 that there’s room for everybody,” she said. “We all love country [music] and we all are country, and we’re keeping the circle unbroken, but growing it to even bigger and better.”

Noah Kahan and Kelsea Ballerini gave a two-song duet at the 2024 ACM Awards.
The pair opened with “Mountain With a View,” a song off Ballerini’s ACM Album of the Year nominee Rolling Up the Welcome Mat (For Good), before segueing into the title track of Kahan’s breakthrough album Stick Season. Ballerini took the stage solo, singing from a couch before Kahan launched into his megahit amidst tall grass. You have to hand it to the Avett Brothers in at least a couple of regards. Long before the likes of Noah Kahan, they set the table for the sad-Americana-boy genre, unfurling heavy-hearted songs set somewhere between the mountains and the suburbs. (They became such a brand that they were featured in Gap ads.) And to their credit, they’ve never been content to merely be another sedate balladeer act: an inclination that, as heard on The Avett Brothers, their eleventh studio record, can still reward them as much as it can trip them up.

Chris Stapleton took the stage during his recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show for a special performance of “Loving You on My Mind.” The song, which appears on the musician’s latest studio album, Higher, was elevated to the next level as Stapleton was joined by Hudson herself and the country duo the War and Treaty.
Stapleton kicked off the song with the War and Treaty, singing alongside his band. About halfway through, following one of the singer’s soulful guitar solos, Hudson emerged from side stage to bring the performance home.

Ahead of the album’s June 21st release, Abrams has unveiled 13-song tracklist. Swift is featured on track five, which is simply called “us.”
Abrams opened several dates on the 2023 North American leg of Swift’s “The Eras Tour,” and will do so again when Swift plays shows in Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Toronto, and Vancouver later this year (get tickets here).

The Academy of Country Music Awards show set for May 16 is getting some additional octane in its performance lineup with the addition of two of the biggest artists of the moment from outside the country genre, Post Malone and Noah Kahan.
Malone looks set for a solo moment on the ACM Awards show, while Kahan will join female artist of the year nominee Kelsea Ballerini for a duet.
Even without a new album out, Malone has been ubiquitous lately, in pop and even country. After a shortened 2022-23 season, Saturday Night Live returned a bit later than usual to kick off its 2023-24 run.
The writers strike affected both the end of last season and the start of season 49; the end of the labor action on Sept. 25 meant a mid-October start for SNL — with former castmember Pete Davidson hosting — rather than the late September or early October premiere the show usually has. The show’s cast returned intact from last season, with James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman moving up from featured players to repertory players. Chloe Troast joined the cast as a featured player.
Below is The Hollywood Reporter’s updating guide to season 49’s SNL hosts and musical guests.

Universal Music Group chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge has applauded a new music licensing deal with TikTok which ends a recent months-long standoff over royalties to be paid out around the social media platform.
“It’s another significant step we’ve taken to guide the industry’s evolution to a future where human artistry must be respected,” Grainge told an analyst call after the release of his company’s first quarter financial results. He argued the resolution of the TikTok dispute had impacts beyond a single social media platform.
“The income from social media is increasingly important income to artists, songwriters, labels and publishers, which is why we’ve pushed so hard and we will continue to push hard to protect and to develop it,” Grainge warned.
“Ultimately, the point of engaging in such conflicts is to find a higher common ground from which new and greater progress can be made.

Dylan Gossett is well aware that his career has been ridiculously fast-tracked.
In just one year’s time, the 25-year-old Austin, Texas, native went from half-seriously uploading songs to social media to becoming one of country music’s most in-demanded live draws. On the strength of a pair of EPs — including Songs in the Gravel that dropped in March — Gossett has consistently played to capacity crowds in the U.S. and abroad. It has only been three weeks since their first collaborative album hit number-one on the Billboard 200 albums chart, but Metro Boomin and Future are at it again. “We Don’t Trust You” debuted on top of the chart dated April 6, and now their follow-up “We Still Don’t Trust You” has done the same on the chart dated April 27. Read more about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
“We Still Don’t Trust You” achieved 127,500 equivalent album units based on its combined traditional album sales, individual track sales and online streams, with streaming making up the vast majority of the collection’s activity. That total number of units is about half what Metro and Future achieved with “We Don’t Trust You,” which launched with 251,000. But it was enough to knock Beyonce‘s “Cowboy Carter” to second place with 98,000 units. “We Don’t Trust You” rose one spot...

Pour a glass of whiskey neat, because Hozier has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time ever with his viral hit “Too Sweet.” After initially debuting at No. 5 and quickly climbing to No. 2, the Unheard EP track now stands as the Irish singer’s highest performing effort, besting his 2013 smash “Take Me to Church,” which peaked at No. 2.
Per Billboard, the domination of “Too Sweet” also marks the first time an Irish artist has secured a No. 1 song on the Hot 100 since Sinéad O’Connor accomplished the feat in 1990 with “Nothing Compares 2 U.” In fact, Hozier is just the fourth Irish artist in history to hit No. 1 on the chart, with O’Connor, U2, and Gilbert O’Sullivan as the only other Irish acts to have done so.

A star-studded group of veteran “Saturday Night Live” guest hosts were on hand this evening to welcome Kristen Wiig into the “Five-Timers Club.” But much to Wiig’s chagrin, most of them haven’t matched her feat of actually hosting “SNL” five times.
The former “Saturday Night Live” cast member made her fifth appearance as host — having previously hit the stage in 2013, 2016 and twice in 2020.
The stolen “SNL” valor actually began with a legit five-timer: Paul Rudd, on hand to welcome her from the audience..
“As a former cast member, it is very special,” Wiig said. “I’m really excited about getting my jacket tonight… they don’t just hand the jackets off to anyone.”
Well, not quite. Soon more stars came out: Matt Damon, Jon Hamm, Martin Short, Will Forte, Fred Armisen, Martin Short and Ryan Gosling. None of whom haven actually hosted five times yet.

The 251,000 album units figure marks the most successful week ever for Metro Boomin and second biggest week for Future. And it was more than enough to hold off Olivia Rodrigo, who surged up 16 spots back to number-two thanks to a deluxe edition of her sophomore album “Guts“; it achieved 73,000 album units. Dropping down to third place after two weeks at number-one was Ariana Grande‘s “Eternal Sunshine” with 72,000 units.

Call him the great collaborator. In the past year, Noah Kahan has duetted with Kacey Musgraves, Brandi Carlile, and Gracie Abrams, as part of his Stick Season (We’ll All Be Here Forever) series. Now, he’s found the ultimate counterpart: A literal stick. Or as literal as it gets on Sesame Street.
In a teaser for the series’ upcoming 55th season, an adoring stick revealed itself actually to be a fan. “Oh, Noah, Noah,” it fawned, “Thank you, thank you.” Kahan played it cool: “Oh yeah, ‘Season of the Stick.

While our racetrack odds projected a close race for number-one between Ariana Grande (“Eternal Sunshine“) and Justin Timberlake (“Everything I Thought It Was”), it actually turned out to be a fight between Grande and Kacey Musgraves (“Deeper Well“), with only 3,500 album units making the difference between first and second place.
