For the past 20 plus years, Malik Shakur has worked behind the scenes using his skills in intellectual property development to affect creative growth in music, television, film and digital marketing. Tapping into his talents, he's created, developed, directed and implements content in various mediums.
Trained, as an intellectual property lawyer, Mr. Shakur has had to divide his abilities between the law, the creative process business, and marketing. The law is the how to protect; industry is how to make money, create other companies and how to create compelling content that is inspiring, informative, entertaining and on the go, all while developing marketing and promotional plans.
Currently, Mr. Shakur is the CEO of Independent Creative Artists a Digital Production and Distribution Company specializing in business opportunities with intellectual properties, social media management, brand management, content development for entertainment, lifestyle and spirits. Under the ICA brand, Mr. Shakur has turned his creative focus towards the "second screen" (mobile) with the development of content geared toward the on-the-go audience. His company, iClick2Media. His company goals are to move TV from the first screen to the second screen while going global with our original content series and films for the mobile consumers on its mobile content deployment system.
Mr. Shakur has been a consultant on Hollywood and Atlanta Exec's, One Night Only Series (Eddie Murphy, & Don Rickles) and produced several commercials (Reebox, Ford Motor Company and Behind The Unsigned (Fuse Network), YouTube Music Series Teambackpack and The Comedy The Blue Line) and several music videos.
As Chief Digital Officer for Mosaic, Mr. Shakur developed concepts; created campaigns produced commercial and jingles for FedEx, Carnival Cruise lines AirTran, Burger King, Ford and Reebox and several PepsiCo products.
Mr. Shakur has produced (Ford, Reebox, Pepsi, and directed several commercial as well as written and produced jingles for several significant brands (Downy, Gatorade, Alberto VO5 Amtrak Pepsi and Burger King). Always wanting to improve his creative talent Mr. Shakur made his theatrical directorial debut at the Behold Queer Arts Festival at Highways Performance Arts Space with My Life In 3 Easy Payments (the first sold-out show of the season). The show is based on the book, Dreamboy: My Life as a QVC Host & Other Greatest Hits which Mr. Shakur produced a 10-city show/book tour. The show has transformed into an educational tool teaching today's youth the importance of collective individualness, a process where we learn to respect each person in the collective process of our day-to-day lives. In another sold-out performance in June of 2015, Mr. Shakur produced the Musical Invisible Life at the World-Famous Apollo Theater in New York City. The musical is an adaptation of E. Lynn Harris best-selling novel Invisible Life. To round out the sound for the musical Ashford & Simpson lent their talents as musicians and lyricists to this ground-breaking book. In 2017 Mr. Shakur was an associate producer for the During the 50th Anniversary of Negro Ensemble Company reprisal of A Soldiers' Play Mr. Shakur Understudy/Performed as Captain Davenport. Always up for the challenge, Mr. Shakur will be writer/producer/director/actor in a series of web series focusing on life, relationship with the backdrop of NYC.

Messrs. Shakur holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Bachelor of Arts in Black & Puerto Rico Studies, Masters of Art in Industrial Psychology and a Juris Doctorate with a focus on intellectual property.
