The classic horror franchise The Omen has been lying dormant ever since the failed television series “Damien” back in 2016, but the evil returns this year in The First Omen.
The brand new prequel movie from 20th Century Studios will unleash hell in theaters on April 5, 2024, and as promised, the first official trailer has debuted online this morning.

Cailee Spaeny plays the title character in director Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla Presley biopic Priscilla, and she also happens to have a lead role in director Fede Alvarez’s upcoming addition to the Alien franchise, a film that may or may not be titled Alien: Romulus. That movie is on track for an August 16, 2024 theatrical release – and while talking with Variety‘s Michaela Zee, Spaeny revealed that the story is set between the events of the original Alien and its sequel Aliens.
Spaeny said, “It’s supposed to slot in between the first movie and the second movie. They brought the same team from Aliens, the James Cameron film. The same people who built those xenomorphs actually came on and built ours. So getting to see the original design with the original people who have been working on these films for 45-plus years and has been so much of their life has been really incredible.

Director Fede Alvarez should now be in production on the new movie in the Alien franchise, a project which may or may not be called Alien Romulus. Originally designed to debut on Hulu, Disney recently announced an August 16, 2024 theatrical release date for the movie, which bodes well for its quality. So as a filmmaker who’s known for moments of brutal, cringe-inducing violence works to bring the Xenomorphs back to our screens, we decided it was time to put together an article that keeps track of Everything We Know About Fede Alvarez’s New Alien Movie.

First, we have to address whether or not Alien: Romulus is really the movie’s title. The fact is, we don’t know. It could very well be a working title or a codename title that will end up being changed down the line. The first time we ever saw the Alien: Romulus...

“Don’t Breathe” and “Evil Dead” director Fede Álvarez is reviving the “Alien” franchise next year with the release of a new sequel (reportedly titled “Alien: Romulus”), which he co-wrote with Rodo Sayagues. The film will tell a new story within the “Alien” universe after the film franchise came to a halt following Ridley Scott’s prequel films “Prometheus” (2012) and “Alien: Covenant” (2017). The latter’s middling box office ended Scott’s run. “Alien: Romulus” will be the first “Alien” movie released since Disney acquired Fox.
Speaking to Guillermo del Toro at the DGA Latino Summit 2023 (around the 18:35 mark), Álvarez confirmed that his “director’s cut” of “Alien: Romulus” is finished and he recently “had to go through the incredibly tense process of obviously sending it to Ridley Scott,” who is a lead producer on the sequel. Scott directed the original “Alien” in 1979.

The new Alien movie directed by Fede Alvarez began filming in Budapest, Hungary on March 9th and wrapped up in early July, right before the Screen Actors Guild strike began. As far as we know (and here’s everything we do know about the movie that may or may not be called Alien: Romulus), it’s still on track for an August 16, 2024 theatrical release. Alvarez is doing a good job of keeping details under wraps – but over the weekend, he did take to social media to share a picture of the books he was looking through while developing the project.

Murder mysteries, particularly those of the Agatha Christie variety, tend to be feasts for actors, affording them the chance to play colorful, eccentric, and often more than a little bit sleazy characters who may or may not like to dabble in homicide on the side. Such was the case with director Kenneth Branagh's first two films in his Hercule Poirot cinematic universe, "Murder on the Orient Express" and "Death on the Nile." For his third go at adapting Christie's super-sleuth for the big screen, "A Haunting in Venice," Branagh has once again surrounded himself (and his ginormous curly mustache) as Poirot with a cast that represents the cream of the crop when it comes to character actors working today.
"A Haunting in Venice" (you can read /Film's review here) adapts one of Christie's lesser-known Poirot novels, "Hallowe'en Party," in order to put something of a horror-tinged spin on your average Poirot adventure.

Hercule Poirot hits the high seas in A Haunting in Venice, a supernatural horror movie from Kenneth Branagh that adapts Agatha Christie’s novel Hallowe’en Party.
A Haunting in Venice will open in theaters nationwide September 15, 2023, and Fandango has debuted a new clip today that invites you to the Halloween Party a little early.
In the clip, Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) explains that he doesn’t believe in the paranormal, but his belief is tested when a chandelier mysteriously crashes to the ground.
They call it a “jump scare,” kids. Watch the clip below.
This is the first horror movie from Branagh since Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein back in 1994, grafting a spooky skin onto his critically acclaimed tales of Hercule Poirot.
Featuring a screenplay by Oscar nominee Michael Green (“Logan”), A Haunting in Venice was filmed at Pinewood Studios outside London and on location in Venice.

The new Alien movie directed by Fede Alvarez began filming in Budapest, Hungary on March 9th – and now Alvarez has taken to social media to celebrate the fact that production has officially wrapped! His celebratory post can be seen at the bottom of this article.
This new Alien movie is coming to us from Momentum and 20th Century Studios, with Ridley Scott producing through his Scott Free banner. We originally heard that it was being made for release through the Hulu streaming service, much like the Predator franchise addition Prey that was released last year (and turned out to be one of the more well-received entries in that series), but it was recently announced that it will be receiving a theatrical release on August 16, 2024.

The trope of the “Unseen” character has been used in theater or comics for a long time as it enhances the plot development and effectively helps advance the plot with an element of surprise. For instance, consider Rosaline, William Shakespeare’s fictional character in ‘Romeo and Juliet.’ In a gathering that is hosted by the Capulet family, Romeo tries to search for his unrequited love, Rosaline, but chances upon her cousin, Juliet, and then we know how the story unfolds between the two. In “Unseen,” the character is seen and visible, but her actions somehow escape the naked eye.
Either the universe supports her, or the director, Ozgur Onurme, wants the feminine character that she is to make a very clear statement that she may be considered insignificant by society, but she is capable of much more than what we can imagine. We consider Zenzile unimportant as a cleaner, but...

Only a handful of writers in television history have built a bona fide empire. Few who have done so have been women or PoC. Regardless of what you think of her shows, TV royalty Shonda Rhimes deserves respect for her groundbreaking success. Rhimes' workplace dramas have biting dialogue, steamy workplace affairs, and characters fighting tooth and nail to win. There's a passionate fandom surrounding her work, which makes the viewing experience doubly exciting.
With eleven shows underneath the "Shondaland" banner, it's not a surprise that not all of them are hits. Few contemporary shows have come anywhere close to matching the success of her first project, "Grey's Anatomy," and each subsequent series, in some way, has to contend with that legacy. But Rhimes is nothing if not prolific. Her career has only gotten more expansive since that first smash hit. Since moving from ABC to signing a deal with Netflix,...

The Boogeyman is made for those of us who remember freaking out as kids over the possibility that monsters not only existed but were hiding in the closet or under the bed. I blame Stephen King for my night terrors, and now another of King’s short stories is about to become fodder for even more nightmares.
20th Century Studios’ new trailer shows a dad trying to convince his kid that there’s nothing to be afraid of. Of course he’s wrong and, of course, it’s the kid who has to pay the price as the target of a terrifying supernatural presence.
The new trailer arrived along with a suitably creepy poster in support of the horror film’s upcoming June 2, 2023 theatrical release.
Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets), Chris Messina (Birds of Prey), Vivien Lyra Blair (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy), Madison Hu (Bizaardvark), LisaGay Hamilton (Vice), and David Dastmalchian (Dune) star.

Rosaline — “Rosaline” is a fresh and comedic twist on Shakespeare’s classic love story “Romeo & Juliet,” told from the perspective of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline (Kaitlyn Dever), who also happens to be Romeo’s recent love interest. Heartbroken when Romeo (Kyle Allen) meets Juliet (Isabela Merced) and begins to pursue her, Rosaline schemes to foil the famous romance and win back her guy. Drum & Lace (Sofia Hultquist) and Ian Hultquist go back to the past for "Rosaline." The composers, known for their work on "Dickinson" and "Good Girls," score the twist on Romeo & Juliet with a similar spin of their own. There's the throwback to needle drops from early-2000s romantic comedies, as well as the renaissance instruments expected from a (loose) William Shakespeare adaptation.
The duo's score features a cover of Robyn's bittersweet feel-good classic "Dancing on My Own," as well as an Enrique Iglesias cover. The irreverent choices were tailored for the titular lead, Juliet's cousin (played by Kaitlyn Dever), whose voice helped lead the way for the composers' choices. Drum & Lace and Ian Hultquist met back in college and have made music together ever since, although both have solo projects and careers as well. For Kaitlyn Dever, starring as the titular heroine in Hulu's "Rosaline" was a dream come true. She tells Popsugar that she first heard about the project - which reimagines "Romeo and Juliet" from the perspective of Romeo's first love and Juliet's cousin, Rosaline - years ago when she was 15. The actor, now 25, says that even when she read the script back then, "it was always something that was super special," adding, "I think society needs time to catch up with certain projects." The movie stayed in her head as an idea, and when screenwriter Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber called her up to ask if she wanted the lead part for real, she was thrilled.
During the film's production, she met two of her idols: Minnie Driver and Bradley Whitford, whom she calls "icons and literal legends." Dever admits she is a huge fan of the movie "Ella Enchanted,...

A modern twist on a centuries-old Shakespeare play? Well, Emmy nominee Kaitlyn Dever looked a little closer to home for her inspiration: Her mother.
Dever transformed into the titular jilted heroine for Hulu’s “Rosaline,” directed by Karen Maine and now streaming. The famed story of “Romeo & Juliet” is relived through the point of view of Rosaline, Romeo’s (Kyle Allen) ex and cousin to Juliet (Isabela Merced). It’s not necessarily a great love story when you’re Rosaline.
“I did realize I may have just been playing a heightened version of myself, and then Karen allowed me to just really go for it sometimes and be intense and see this stressful side of Rosaline,” Dever told IndieWire. “I also realize that there are a lot of little things that I specifically realized that my mom does that I do in this movie, which is really fun.”

While William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet is famously a tragedy, it has inspired the new film Rosaline, which takes the tale in a much more comedic direction. That makes Kaitlyn Dever very happy. As both the star of the movie and one of its executive producers, she’s felt like there’s been too much tragedy and seriousness in the world lately, so people could really use a good comedy. Kaitlyn Dever may embody one of literature’s most overlooked characters in “Rosaline,” 20th Century Studios’ campy and modernized retelling of William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” from the perspective of the forgotten Capulet, but the Emmy-nominated actress is anything but.
Earning her first executive producing credit on the Hulu film (based on Rebecca Serle’s book “When You Were Mine”), the “Dopesick” star continues her ascent in Tinseltown, setting her sights on directing next and gushing about being featured opposite rom-com greats Julia Roberts and George Clooney in “Ticket to Paradise,” which debuts next week, in a recent interview with TheWrap.
“When I approached Rosaline, the way I developed the character and the process behind bringing this character to life was just really pushing any boundaries that I had been afraid of before,” Dever told TheWrap, “because Rosaline has an intensity and her intensity is the drive throughout the story in the film,...

Hey, it’s getting pretty close to movie award season, so what better time to, as they sing in “Kiss Me Kate”, “Brush Up Your Shakespeare”. Now, don’t think that you’re doing homework, since this new film delves into one of the Bard’s classics. Yes, it can be fun even though the cast isn’t singin’ and dancin’ up a storm as in West Side Story. Whoops, let the “cat outta’ the bag” with that last aside. Yet, it’s a different take on the tale from what’s been shown so many times before. This new “twist” builds itself around a minor character, much as with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern from Hamlet (who got their spin-off...
