Sometimes life imitates art, which is essentially what happened when NBC’s twisty mystery drama “Manifest” was saved from cancellation by Netflix. Just as the passengers of Flight 828 got a second chance at life, the show gets a second chance to explain why, and that time has come with the first half of the final season — billed as “Manifest” Season 4 Part 1.
It’s been a year and a half off screen and two years on screen, and somehow both nothing and everything has changed since Season 3’s devastating cliffhanger. When we last saw the Stones, Grace (Athena Karkanis) had been murdered by crazed passenger Angelina (Holly Taylor), who was convinced that Eden, Grace’s daughter with Ben (Josh Dallas), was her own personal guardian angel. Two years later, Angelina is still on the run with Eden, and Ben is a broken man with a broken family, living in a broken...

Manifest, which is preparing to land for one final season on Netflix after its untimely cancellation by NBC, has been nothing short of a bumpy ride. However, the TV series has captivated viewers with its story of the Montego Airways Flight 828 passengers, who landed in New York City to the shock of a lifetime. They had been missing for five and a half years and presumed dead in which time their loved ones all aged, but they returned completely unchanged.
Throughout three seasons, we’ve watched the passengers struggle to adapt to their new reality, which has changed their relationships with their families, made them garner often-unwanted attention, and put them in difficult and dangerous situations as their return gave them prophetic visions and thoughts known as “Callings.”
But that’s not all, so before things get rolling again, let’s look back at where the show left us…

Manifest star Josh Dallas knows full well how lucky the show is to have a second bite of the apple, and he’s truly made the most of it. Much like the series’ central mystery involving Montego Air Flight 828 which disappeared and reappeared five years later, the former NBC supernatural drama briefly vanished last summer, only to return as a Netflix series a couple months later. Creator Jeff Rake’s remaining three-season plan evolved into a 20-episode season four that will be split into two parts, with part one arriving Nov. 4 on Netflix.
For Dallas, he credits the show’s passionate fans, affectionately dubbed “The Manifesters,” for the series’ rebirth, as they, combined with new viewers, rallied to keep the show’s existing three seasons atop the Netflix charts for a prolonged period.

“Manifest” Season 4 wasn’t gonna happen — but then came the streaming numbers.
Netflix launched reruns of “Manifest” Seasons 1 and 2 on June 10, 2021; four days later, NBC canceled its “Lost”-like missing-airplane series. On June 24, 2021, Netflix launched its weekly Global Top 10 TV and Film lists. Guess which series claimed two of the Top 5 slots?
Season 1 ranked third on the streamer’s inaugural weekly ranking; “Manifest” Season 2 was fifth. The first season would go on to appear on Netflix’s Top 10 English-language TV series list 18 more times — the only other show to pull that off is a little ditty called “Stranger Things 4.”
“Manifest” was a Top 5 broadcast entertainment series in its first season; beyond prime-time football, only “This Is Us” drew higher Nielsen ratings among adults 18-49 on NBC that year. The following season, it dropped out of the Top 20; Season 3 didn’t make the Top 50. Season 2 appeared eight times on the weekly...

Part 1 of “Manifest” Season 4 will premiere on Netflix on Nov. 4.
Consisting of ten episodes, Season 4 Part 1 comes over a year after “Manifest” was canceled by NBC, where it originally aired. Before its cancellation, the series arrived on Netflix and quickly rose to the top of the streamer’s Top 10 rankings. Netflix then picked it up for a fourth and final season in Aug. 2021.
Season 1 of “Manifest” has spent 16 weeks on the Netflix Top 10, but that success didn’t come during its streaming debut alone. The season reappeared on the chart recently, during the July 4-10 viewing window, and Seasons 2 and 3 followed suit the next week. Its increased viewership comes as a result of a wider reach, as “Manifest” was added to Netflix in India, Latin America and the Nordic countries earlier this summer.

That much we've known for almost a year.
But, what else do we know about the next season of the mystery drama?
Netflix Saved the Series Following NBC's Cancellation
NBC canceled Manifest after three seasons in 2021, leading to an outpouring of support from fans.
A movement quickly got off the ground to bring the series back from the dead.
Despite cast options expiring and Warner Bros. scaling back its efforts to find a home, the fans won.
They streamed the series in their droves when it dropped on Netflix, urging the streaming service to re-enter negotiations with Warner Bros.
There were reports that NBC was interested in reviving the show, too.
They clearly didn't know a good thing until they lost it!

Manifest's fourth season on Netflix will feature some changes on the casting front.
The beloved series was saved last month by the streaming giant after NBC canceled it after three seasons.
At the time, only Josh Dallas, J.R. Ramirez, and Melissa Roxburgh had closed deals to return for the final 20 episodes.
In a new report, Deadline has revealed the cast for the fourth & final season.
Athena Karkanis is officially out of the series after three seasons, and if you watch Manifest online, you know why.
Jack Messina is also bowing out of the series as Cal Stone.
This is another move that should come as no surprise given the events of the season finale.
Ty Doran will assume the role of Cal as a full-fledged series regular for Manifest Season 4.
Parveen Kaur, and Luna Blaise have all inked new deals to continue on as Saanvi and Olive.

Now that NBC’s cancelled Manifest has been officially saved for a fourth — and final — season on Netflix, it’s time to take stock of which actors will be back, and which… won’t.
For starters, it should come as little surprise that Athena Karkanis, whose Grace Stone was fatally stabbed in the Season 3 finale, has exited the series, our sister site Deadline reports.

News of Manifest taking flight broke over the weekend, and it elicited a strong response from both the fandom and those associated with the series.
News of the renewal broke on the so-called "828 day."
It came after weeks of negotiations, but fans will have peace of mind knowing that 20 new episodes have been ordered, which will conclude the series.
“What started years ago as a flight of fancy deep in my imagination has evolved into the jet engine journey of a lifetime," series creator Jeff Rake said of the pickup.
"Never in my wildest dreams could I have envisioned the worldwide outpouring of love and support for this story, its characters, and the team who work so hard to bring it all to life," his statement continued.
"That we will be able to reward the fans with the ending they deserve moves me to no end. On behalf of the cast,...

Fans of the Manifest TV series are going to get some answers. Netflix has revived the cancelled series for a fourth and final season. It's worth noting that the show was saved on August 28th since the show revolves around passengers of Flight 828.
An action-drama series, the Manifest TV show stars Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J.R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, and Holly Taylor. After a turbulent but routine flight, the crew and passengers of Flight 828 disembarked to find the world had aged more than five years. Their friends, families, and colleagues had given up hope of ever seeing them again. In season three, faced with the impossible, the passengers’ dreams of a second chance at life evaporated as they encountered imminent dangers surrounding them, both tangible and unexplained.

It's happening, Manifest fans!
As expected, the beloved drama has been picked up for a fourth season at Netflix.
The exciting announcement was made Saturday, aka 828 day.
The order is for a final season, however. 20 episodes have been ordered.
Despite being canceled by NBC earlier this year after three seasons, the series emerged as a force to be reckoned with on Netflix, where it enjoyed a surge in popularity.
The series broke Nielsen streaming chart records, urging Warner Bros. TV group to restart negotiations to save the series.
In recent weeks, it's been reported that both Netflix and NBC were in talks about additional seasons of the series.
Manifest was never a bad performer for NBC, enjoying healthy post-airdate gains that showed there was a viable audience.
Unfortunately, NBC swung the axe after three seasons, but this was when the network had a new Law & Order series on tap for the fall,...

Netflix has picked up ‘Manifest’ for a fourth and final season 10 weeks after NBC canceled the drama.
The streamer has also announced that this upcoming new season will consist of 20 episodes, which is more than any one season received on NBC. Whether all 20 are released at once or in multiple parts was not announced.
“Manifest” follows various passengers from fictional flight Montego Air 828 who experience a severe bout of turbulence while flying from Jamaica to New York City, only when they land, they learn that five and a half years actually passed — and they have returned with the special ability to see glimpses of events to come.
“Since its premiere on Netflix in June, Manifest has proven very popular with our members. Jeff Rake and his team have crafted a beguiling mystery that has viewers around the world on the edge of their seats and believing again in second chances,...

Manifest will live on. After weeks of negotiations, Netflix has closed a deal for a super-sized fourth and final season of the missing plane drama, which will be available exclusively on the streamer worldwide. In a nod to Manifest‘s fans, whose passionate support helped resurrect the show following its cancellation by NBC, the announcement of the Season 4 pickup by Netflix was made on so-called “828 Day” (8/28) — when the series about the mystery of Flight 828 is celebrated annually — at 8:28 Am Pt.

Manifest might have a future at Netflix after all.
According to Deadline, producers of the canceled NBC drama are in the process of making deals with cast members and writers in the event that a deal is struck with Netflix.
The cast options expired in June, around the time Netflix decided against picking up a fourth season of the missing plane drama.
Since Netflix nixed talks initially to save the series, it scaled the Netflix charts and broke Nielsen streaming records.
Warner Bros. TV group restarted talks to find the show a new home as the popularity continued to grow.
Even NBC re-entered the ring to consider picking it back up, but Deadline notes that the channel is no longer in talks to pick the series up.
There are still some big hurdles to iron out, including international deals. Manifest already has deals outside the U.S., and moving the...

Encouraging news for Manifest fans: The missing-plane drama is inching closer to a deal for a new home two months after its cancellation by NBC. I hear producing studio Warner Bros TV is in the home stretch of complex negotiations with Netflix about a Season 4 order for the series, which has been topping the streamer’s viewership charts since June.
In anticipation of a pickup, Wbtv has started negotiations with the cast and has been making “if-come” offers to writers — both writers who had worked on the show, created/executive produced by Jeff Rake, and new ones — for Season 4, sources said. NBCUniversal, which made a spirited effort to get the show back on NBC or Peacock, is no longer in the running, I hear. Reps for Wbtv, Netflix and NBCU declined comment.

“Manifest” was finally knocked off its perch on Nielsen’s weekly streaming ranking, despite surpassing 1 billion minutes viewed for a record sixth week in a row.
“Manifest” was canceled by NBC after three seasons earlier this year but has become a mainstay on Netflix since it debuted its first seasons on the streaming platform in July. Returning Netflix original series “Virgin River” topped “Manifest” this week with more than 2 billion minutes viewed, compared to “Manifest’s” 1.3 billion.
In third place on the overall list was Disney+’s “Loki” with 1.01 billion minutes viewed. These rankings were for the week of July 12-18, so “Loki’s” McU-breaking finale is included here.
Ever since “Manifest” was canceled, hopes for a renewal have circled among fans and even the show’s creator, Jeff Rake, who said said at the time of the cancellation he was “devastated,” but was “hoping to find a new home” for the show.

Manifest was grounded for good earlier this year, and one of its stars is moving on.
According to Deadline, Matt Long has joined the cast of NBC pilot Getaway, from The Blacklist duo John Davis and John Fox.
Long joins a cast that includes Marg Helgenberger (CSI), Jasmine Mathews (The Rookie) and E.J. Bonilla (The Old Man), and Annie Ilonzeh (Chicago Fire).
All of the stars are set as series regulars, with one-year-deals, according to the outlet.
Long was reportedly approached to join the series when talks with Netflix for a revival of Manifest fell through with production company Warner Bros. TV group.
In recent days, however, both Netflix and NBC have restarted negotiations to potentially bring the series back from the dead.
Manifest catapulted to the top spot in the Nielsen streaming charts shortly after touching down on Netflix, amassing 2.5 billion minutes viewed its first week and 2 billion its second week.

We may have a repeat of 2017 when NBC canceled Timeless after one season but reversed their decision days later following fan outcry. Manifest, another high-concept NBC drama with passionate fan base that started its run in the high-profile Monday 10 Pm slot, also could get resurrected following its cancellation by the network.
A month after the missing plane drama was axed by NBC after three seasons and Netflix opted not to pick it up, NBC is in conversations with Manifest studio Warner Bros. TV about a possible renewal, sources tell Deadline. In an intriguing twist, I hear Netflix also has resumed talks with Warner Bros. The conversations are happening as Manifest Season 1 and 2 viewership continues to surge on Netflix in the U.S. and the #SaveManifest fan campaign remains strong. Reps for Warner Bros. TV, Netflix and NBC declined comment.

“Manifest” creator Jeff Rake isn’t holding out hope for more seasons of the canceled NBC series, even though he had a six-season plan in mind from the start. Instead, Rake is now focusing his efforts on making a feature-length movie that would serve as the series finale for the Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas-led drama.
“Twenty days after we’ve premiered on Netflix, I’ve kind of moved away from the plan of finding a home for seasons 4, 5 and 6 of ‘Manifest,’ even though I’ve always talked about ‘Manifest’ being a six-season show,” Rake told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published Wednesday. “Back in the day, I laid out a six-season roadmap for NBC, and I’m halfway through. I had giant cliffhangers in the season 3 finale, so I had every intention to have three more seasons to slow-burn the back half of the story. I’m reading...

It's been less than two weeks since Manifest was canceled after three seasons at NBC, but those associated with the series are still holding out hope for a revival.
When the cancellation was announced on June 15, Warner Bros. TV tried to find a new home for the series, with Netflix emerging as a likely home.
As the first two seasons joined the streaming service, it flew to the top of the charts as negotiations got underway.
Unfortunately, a deal could not be reached, and the cast and crew officially said goodbye to the series as Warner Bros. confirmed it was no longer looking for a home.
Now, Manifest creator Jeff Rake is opening up about closure, especially because the series was only halfway through a six-season plan at the time of its demise.
“Your support is awe-inspiring,” he tweeted to fans on Sunday.
“We’re trying to find a way to conclude the series.

When Netflix decided it will not pick up the recently cancelled NBC drama Manifest, star Josh Dallas sent out a message to the “Manifesters,” the show’s passionate fan base.

It truly is a difficult time for fans of NBC's Manifest.
The network pulled the plug on the high-concept drama after three seasons last week, but it seemed like the show had a chance to be picked up at Netflix.
It quickly flew to the top of the streamer's daily chart when its first two seasons were made available for streaming.
As a result, Netflix entered preliminary negotiations to pick up the series, assessing whether it would make financial sense.
Unfortunately, the talks came to a halt on Monday night, leading to Warner Bros. TV group's efforts to find a new home concluding.
In response, the cast took to social media to pay tribute to the show.
On Instagram, Josh Dallas, who played Ben Stone, thanked the fans for their continued support over the years.

It seems to be truly the end of the road for the Manifest TV series. NBC cancelled the drama series earlier this month and now, efforts to find a new home have ended.

Manifest's fate is sealed, and we wish it was better news.
Per Deadline, Netflix has decided against picking up a fourth season of NBC's canceled drama.
Netflix was deemed the most likely home after the first two seasons launched earlier this month and flew to the top spot on the streamer's most popular list.
Netflix has been known to pick up canceled dramas, but such moves are becoming less likely each year.
Lucifer was saved after its Fox cancellation and will wrap with its upcoming sixth season, so that show had a healthy second life.
The news about Netflix not picking up Manifest means the show is over ... for good.
It's an unfortunate way to end the tale, especially when the recent Manifest Season 3 was halfway in creator Jeff Rake's six-season-plan.
Now, it is thought that with cast options expiring, it would be too difficult to get...
Per Deadline, Netflix has decided against picking up a fourth season of NBC's canceled drama.
Netflix was deemed the most likely home after the first two seasons launched earlier this month and flew to the top spot on the streamer's most popular list.

“Manifest” will not move forward with a fourth season after efforts to find the show a new home following its cancellation failed to pan out, TheWrap has learned.
NBC announced its decision to cancel the show last week, shortly after the Josh Dallas-led drama concluded its third season. Warner Bros. Television, which produces the series, said at the time that it would shop a fourth season to other networks and streamers.
Series creator Jeff Rake said at the time that he was “devastated” by the cancellation, but was “hoping to find a new home” for the show. “You the fans deserve an ending to your story,” he wrote on Twitter.
Across its three-season run, “Manifest” followed the passengers and crew of Montego Air Flight 828, who mysteriously returned five years after they were feared dead when the commercial airliner disappeared. The series starred Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J.R. Ramirez,...

After lengthy conversations and deliberations that stretched into this week, Netflix has opted not to order a fourth season of Manifest following the series’ cancellation by NBC after three seasons, sources said. The streaming giant, which recently released the first two seasons of the missing plane drama, had been considered the most viable option for Manifest. With that, Manifest studio Warner Bros. Television has concluded its efforts to find a new home for the series, I hear. Pursuing other outlets would have involved navigating a maze of digital rights and cast options that have expired. Reps for Netflix and Wbtv declined comment.
Helping the show’s case at Netflix was the fact that it has been topping the streamer’s U.S. rankings for more than a week. In the end, that was not enough.
This marks a premature ending with unanswered questions and unresolved Season 3 finale cliffhangers for Manifest,...

Manifest could take flight for a fourth season at Netflix.
The missing plane drama was canceled by NBC after three seasons earlier this month, but there may be a happy ending in sight.
The series climbed to the #1 spot on Netflix after the first two seasons were made available to stream, and according to Deadline, talks to save the series are underway.
Warner Bros. TV and the streamer are evaluating the possibility of a pickup.
As always, these deals are notoriously difficult, so there's no guarantee Netflix will be picking the show up, but it's a glimmer of hope for fans.
A few years ago, Netflix picked up a fourth season of Lucifer after Fox canceled it, and the series is set to wrap for good with its sixth season in the coming months.
The NBC cancellation was somewhat surprising.
Manifest Season 3 ultimately averaged 3.2 million viewers and a 0.5 rating in the all-important adults 18-49 demo.

Following the news of NBC’s decision to cancel Manifest after three seasons on Monday night, Netflix quickly emerged as the leading possible new destination for the show thanks to some opportune timing. The first two seasons of the missing plane drama debuted on Netflix last Thursday and quickly climbed to the #1 spot in the U.S., which it has held for a week now.
I hear conversations between lead Manifest studio Warner Bros. TV and Netflix are ongoing as the streamer is evaluating the viability and financials of a possible pickup. There have been just a couple of canceled broadcast series that have been rescued by Netflix so far, most notably Lucifer, which became a hit as a Netflix original following its cancellation by Fox after three seasons.
In an encouraging sign for Manifest fans, Lucifer is also produced by Wbtv, giving the studio and Netflix a working template...

“Manifest” creator Jeff Rake mourned the loss of the drama series alongside its fans late Monday, when news broke NBC had canceled the show following last week’s massive third-season finale cliffhanger.
