When Emilia Clarke Said That The Avengers Movies Were Silly & Then Joined The MCU With Marvel’s Secret Invasion( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Emilia Clarke is not an unknown name. She became popular as Game of Thrones’ Khaleesi, aka Daenerys Targaryen. She became a household name because of the gory HBO series based on George Rr Martin’s works. She recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, aka MCU, with Secret Invasion, but a few years before the Marvel series, the actress made a not-so-likable comment about Marvel movies, such as the Avengers films. Scroll below for more.
Clarke appeared in the leading role in the miniseries Secret Invasion. She plays Gi’ah, daughter of Talos, who works for Gravik [leader of rebel Skrulls], but things change by the end of the series. The show did not get such a good response from the fans. The critics rated it 52% on Tomatometer, and the Audience Score is 46% overall on Rotten Tomatoes.

Emilia Clarke’s arc in Game of Thrones has been a subject of both fury and annoyance over the years — and for good reason. Be it her manipulative benevolence, or little by little transformation into the Mad Queen, or her full-blown turn to tyranny — Danaerys Targaryen’s journey has been a rollercoaster ride and her character remains an enigma whose first moment is as memorable as her last, and every second in between is just as remarkably imprinted on the audience’s memory.
Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones [Credit: HBO Entertainment]But even in a character as legendary as the Mother of Dragons, there exist moments of conflict that underline the HBO series because of the socio-political climate of the reality we live in. It is one such moment that had Emilia Clarke breathing a sigh of relief while filming a particularly seductive scene on the show.

Jessica Chastain and Emilia Clarke are both wonderful actresses who have garnered a huge fan following thanks to their amazing talent. Apart from being A-list Hollywood actresses, the two share little similarities other than their profession.
Jessica Chastain (in Miss Sloane)
Yet in a recent interview, Chastain revealed a striking detail that makes the two share a rare record. As per the Interstellar star, many people ended up naming their daughters after the sci-fi Christopher Nolan film. Similarly, several people in the country named their daughters after Clarke’s Game of Thrones character, a trend that is still continuing.

No fandom has seen death quite like the fandom of Game of Thrones. Neither the widely popular television series nor the source material ever shied away from killing people left and right. While some deaths were too gut-wrenching to watch and made viewers shed some serious tears, others were quite satisfying to watch, to say the least.
A still from Game of Thrones
It’s always good to see the bad guys finally pay the price of their actions with their lives. Bonus points if the death ends up being as gruesome as possible and Game of Thrones is no stranger to this. From Viserys Targaryen to Tywin Lannister, the series rewarded fans with some of the most satisfying deaths to have graced the television industry but which death did the Game of Thrones creators find to be the best amongst them all?

It’s clear from the start that picture day is serious business, and Valentina knows she has a job to do.
The entire five-and-a-half-minute saga unfolds just as all of the most excellent cinematic shorts do: there’s major drama right from the jump, intense emotions and sisters banding together — temporarily — to solve a problem. Bethenny Frankel doesn’t have any dragons, but she’s ready to burn things to the ground in support of her fellow reality stars.
The Real Housewives of New York City alum appeared on Team Coco’s Literally! with Rob Lowe podcast this week to talk up her “reality reckoning” plan, which calls for fairer treatment for reality show stars.
Frankel realizes that her pro-unionization stance hasn’t made her popular with Bravo, her former network.
“I can tell you with great certainty that everyone at Bravo likely despises me, including Andy Cohen, because it’s very personal and because they have to protect the realm,” she said on Thursday’s episode.

“Real Housewives” star Bethenny Frankel just got a powerful new ally in her push for reality TV performers to unionize and join the actors on the picket lines: SAG-AFTRA.

House of the Dragon quickly became one of HBO’s biggest shows in 2022. Audiences enjoy the rivalry in the series and eagerly wait for the next season. Plenty of rumors have spread about casting and plot details.
Not a whole lot of information is out yet, but people remain hopeful. While some rewatch the first season while they wait, others have not seen the show. Specifically, two former Game of Thrones stars have avoided it so far.
‘House of the Dragon’ is a major success
Last year, HBO revisited the world of Westeros with the prequel House of the Dragon. Based on the book Fire & Blood, the show takes place 200 years before Game of Thrones. The story revolves around Rhaenyra being the heir of the Iron Throne.
However, ex-friend Alicent challenges Rhaenyra’s right to the crown and tries to make her son king instead. A split in the Targaryen family occurs,...

Being a part of a fandom can be an incredibly affirming experience. Sure, some of our friends and loved ones might not understand why we feel compelled to wear full cosplay and jam ourselves into overpopulated convention centers, but for those that understand our pop culture obsessions, an immediate familial bond can be forged by the power of wearing a matching T-shirt. Fans express their appreciation in countless ways, with some of the more die-hard folks willing to name their children after their favorite characters, or permanently alter their bodies by getting tattoos.
I'll admit that I'm one of those people, as all three of my tattoos are references to movies I love. Getting a fandom tattoo is a risky decision because while something might feel good at the moment, there's always the chance the creator of your favorite property might turn into the world's loudest mouthpiece for transphobia, and...

On first watch of "Ted Lasso" season 2, it might seem like Nate (Nick Mohammed) turns into a villain out of nowhere. Watching as he tears up the Believe poster and leaks Ted's panic attacks to the press, it's easy to wonder, "What happened to the old Nate?" The Nate of season 1 seemed so kind and sweet, to the point where we all wanted to punch Jamie Tartt for picking on him. How did things go wrong so fast?
But on rewatch, it's clear that Nate's growing dark side was there from the beginning. Even before we learned about his troubled relationship with his father, Nate's insecurities often resulted in him being needlessly mean to those around him. It's just that with the charming, light-hearted tone of the show, it was easy to miss the signs until it was too late.

DC’s Peter Safran has defended the decision to shelve Batgirl despite the fact filming had been completed.

Lead star Leslie Grace, who played Barbara Gordon, and the film’s directors, Bad Boys for Life’s Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, expressed their shock at the news in respective statements.
At the time, several rumours circulated surrounding the decision, with an official statement claiming it reflected the “leadership’s strategic shift as it relates to the DC universe and HBO Max”.
CEO David Zaslav said of the decision: “We’re not going to put a movie out unless we believe in it.”
Since then, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn and Safran were hired to overhaul DC’s release slate, and, on Tuesday (31 January), they broached the subject of Batgirl, saying that...

Avatar: The Way of Water has overtaken a Star Wars film to become the fourth biggest film of all time.
The sequel, which was released on 16 December, has swiftly risen up the top 10 after continuing to top the weekly box office around the world.
Having already trounced takings amassed by films including Jurassic World and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Avatar 2 has now succeeded Avengers: Infinity War and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
It currently sits in fourth place with 2.074bn (£1.672n), and will sail past Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ 2.068bn (£1.667bn) in the next few days.
The next film in its sights will be director James Cameron’s very own Titanic, which sits in third place with 2.187bn (£1.766bn).

S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt has revealed she was left “homeless” due to the UK housing crisis.

In a new interview, Spearritt, 41 said they had no choice but to move after a landlord, who had given them two months to leave their rented home in South West London, brought the move date forward.
The decision left them with two days to find a new place and, after finding a short-term rental, that property’s landlord asked them to pay £6,000 up front, which Spearritt called “crazy extortionate”.

Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge is reportedly attached to write a new Tomb Raider TV series for Amazon.
Last summer, MGM reportedly missed the window to greenlight a Tomb Raider sequel, meaning the franchise was up for grabs.
The Hollywood Reporter now cites sources saying Waller-Bridge is writing and executive producing the latest iteration of Lara Croft as part of her overall deal with Amazon.
Waller-Bridge does not plan to star in the series, THR reports. The Independent has contacted Amazon Studios for comment.
The franchise is based on a video game series, which follows the pistol-wielding archaeologist-cum-adventurer Croft as she searches for lost artefacts.
It has previously spawned two film adaptations, first led by Angelina Jolie in 2001 and Alicia Vikander in 2018.
Vikander’s Tomb Raider was poorly received by critics and earned a lacklustre 275m (£228m) at the global box office, which is estimated to be roughly the figure the film needed to break even.

In a new interview with The Daily Beast, Dorff said he wouldn’t revisit a comic book movie (Blade was based on a character from a series of Marvel comics in the 1970s) unless they were “more like when I started when we made Blade, or the few that have been decent over the years, like when Nolan did The Dark Knight and reinvented Batman from Tim Burton, who’s obviously a genius… when they were interesting”.
He continued: “But all this other garbage is just embarrassing, you know what I mean?”

Jay Leno was in a recent motorcycle accident that left him with several broken bones, only months after he suffered “serious burns” in a November garage car fire.
Last week (17 January), the former Tonight Show host was riding on his 1940 Indian motorcycle when he was knocked off the bike.
“I’ve got a broken collarbone. I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps,” Leno told Las Vegas Review-Journal in a new interview.
“But I’m Ok!” he reassured fans, going on to confirm that he is still “working”.
At the time, Leno, 72, said that he had been test-driving his vintage vehicle when he smelt the scent of leaking gas.
“So I turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot but with no flag hanging from it,” Leno recalled.

Claire Foy has given some insight into her decision to make a surprise return to The Crown in season five.
The actor portrayed young Queen Elizabeth II for the first two seasons of the Netflix drama, based on the lives of the royals during her 70-year reign.
To mark the passage of time in the series, the characters “age up” and are played by different actors as the show continues.
After Foy, Olivia Colman next portrayed the Queen for seasons three and four. She was then succeeded by Imelda Staunton in season five, who will continue the role for its sixth and final outing later this year.
Although Foy’s time in the show ended at the close of season two, fans were delighted when she appeared in the latest run of episodes, released in November.

Kim Woodburn has said that Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield should have been fired from This Morning over “queuegate”.
The Celebrity Big Brother star, 80, shared her thoughts on the drama during a recent appearance on the Not My Bagg podcast.
Last year, the ITV presenters found themselves in the middle of a scandal – dubbed “queuegate” – after they were accused of “jumping the queue” to see the Queen’s coffin lying-in-state before her funeral.
Both Schofield and Willoughby denied the accusations, stating that they would “never jump a queue”.
ITV supported the pair, claiming that they were “there in a professional capacity as part of the world’s media to report on the event”.
Speaking about the incident, Woodburn told hosts Joe and George Baggs: “They were not asked to cover the Queen’s funeral.

Jimmy Kimmel has recalled the earliest days of his late-night talk show, saying that he was “totally unprepared” with “almost no jokes written” ahead of the first episode.
The presenter and comedian has hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC since 26 January 2003, a topical chat show with celebrity guests and live musical performances.
Though the show is one of America’s most popular late-night talk shows, hopes weren’t high that it would be a major success at its beginning.
With ABC’s previous attempts at night-time programming suffering from low ratings (Rick Dees) and cancellation after controversial 9/11-related comments (Bill Maher), Kimmel was aware of the low odds that the show would be a hit with audiences.
Ahead of his anniversary special on Thursday (26 January), the host shared his feelings on the first episodes, 20 years ago.

The CEO of Netflix has said that the streaming giant has never “cancelled a successful show” – leaving many subscribers incredulous.
Earlier this week, co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters gave an interview to Bloomberg.
The interviewer asked the duo: “How was the evolution of your business affected your relationship with the creative community?” adding that people online are “constantly” outage about shows being cancelled.
Sarandos answered: “We have never cancelled a successful show. A lot of these shows were well-intended but talk to a very small audience on a very big budget.
“The key to it is you have to be able to talk to a small audience on a small budget and a large audience at a large budget. If you do that well, you can do that forever.”

Alan Cumming says he has handed back his OBE after a re-examination of the “toxicity” of the British empire.
The Scottish actor was awarded the honour in 2009 in the Queen’s birthday honours for his services to film, theatre and the arts, as well as his LGBT+ activism.
However, marking his 58th birthday on Friday (27 January), Cumming shared an Instagram post announcing that he had recently returned the honour.
“Today is my 58th birthday and I want to tell you about something I recently did for myself. I returned my OBE,” he wrote.
Cumming, who has US as well as British citizenship, explained that he’d received the honour for “activism for equal rights for the gay and lesbian community, USA” at a time when same-sex marriage was still illegal in the US and the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy was in place in the military.

Avatar: The Way of Water has overtaken an Avengers film in the all-time box office.
The sequel, which was released on 16 December, has swiftly risen up the top 10 after continuing to top the weekly box office around the world.
Having already trounced takings amassed by films including Jurassic World and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Avatar 2 has now succeeded Avengers: Infinity War.
It currently sits in fifth place with 2.54bn (£2.051bn), and will sail past Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ 2.68bn (£2.164bn) in the next few days.
The next film in its sights will be director James Cameron’s very own Titanic, which sits in third place with 2.187bn (£1.766bn).
However, the 1997 film, starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, will extend that amount thanks to a 25th anniversay re-release in February.

Ekin-Su will perform as a singing nun on the next episode of Dancing on Ice, after her previous performance was criticised by some for supposedly being “too sexy”.
Last year’s Love Island champion is competing in the current season of ITV1’s ice dancing competition alongside her professional partner Brendyn Hatfield.
She began the season with a bang by skating to the Britney Spears hit, “Toxic”, and recreating her infamous terrace crawling moment from her time in the Love Island villa.
However, it seemed as if some viewers weren’t amused with her performance. Ekin-Su landed in the bottom two after a public vote, and the episode garnered 112 Ofcom complaints about her outfit, a skin-coloured bodysuit with silver details, and her routine.

The latest trailer for "Shazam: Fury of the Gods" is here, and while the first footage was a "Fast and the Furious"-referencing romp with an unexpected Annabelle cameo, this latest sneak peek shows a movie that means business. 2019's "Shazam!" took an unexpectedly fantastical turn when it brought the seven deadly sins to life for a freaky showdown with teen hero Billy Batson (Asher Angel and Zachary Levi). This time around, the "Shazam!" sequel seems to be looking towards a different religious tradition for inspiration, with a trailer that's steeped in Greek mythology.
The Greek Pantheon is no stranger to DC comics, with heroes appearing in "Aquaman" and "Wonder Woman" comics among others. But with the future of DC films basically a blank page at this point, it'll be especially interesting to see whether or not "Shazam: Fury of the Gods" sets up some future DC Universe plotlines — or ends Billy's story for good.

For Emilia Clarke, the idea of sitting down to watch House of the Dragon is the equivalent of attending a school reunion for an entirely different graduating class. In a recent interview with Variety, the actress admitted that she still hasn’t watched the popular HBO prequel series centered around the ancestors of her Game of Thrones character Daenerys Targaryen.
“It’s too weird,” Clarke explained. “I’m so happy it’s happening. I’m over the moon about all the awards… I just can’t do it. It’s so weird.

After Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) learns that Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) has been named King following the death of King Viserys (Paddy Considine), she begins to recruit allies who believe in her claim to the throne.
In the hopes of getting House Baratheon on her side, she sends her son Lucerys (Elliot Grihault) to Storm’s End with his dragon Arrax.
When Lucerys arrives, however, he sees that Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) is already there hoping to secure Baratheon support for his newly crowned brother Aegon.
Things get out of hand when Aemond tries to take revenge on Lucerys for taking his eye out years before.

Maisie Williams has made a candid admission about the quality of Game of Thrones.
The series was widely acclaimed in its early seasons, but divided fans with the final six episodes, which aired in 2019.
Since the ending, several stars of the show have defended how David Benioff and Db Weiss wrapped the story up despite complaints that they rushed Daenerys Targaryen’s storyline too much.
After the finale aired, a petition calling on HBO to remake the final season was launched by one disgruntled person, and over a million people signed it.
Williams, who played Arya Stark, has revealed that she recently rewatched the entire series during a chat about the series with her brother, Talfuin, on his Twitch channel.
"You know, I rewatched it all recently," she said, adding: “Erm, it was... It definitely fell off at the end.”
Giggling, she continued: “But it started really strong. I was heartbroken when Ned died,...

Elizabeth Olsen has addressed rumours that she was cast in House of the Dragon.
The Marvel star recently set the record straight on speculation surrounding her casting in the fantasy series.
Fans will be disappointed to learn that Olsen – best known for her Emmy nominated performance as Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision – will not be making an appearance on the hit HBO programme anytime soon.
“I don’t know how things, rumours like that, get started – and then people think they’re legitimate,” Olsen told Entertainment Tonight.
“Dream casting is fun, yeah, but I heard it was, like, announced, though, which is weirder,” she added.
People informed the actor that the rumours began to circulate seemingly due to a post on an unverified pop culture Twitter account shared on 4 September.
“I never heard of such a thing,” said Olsen, 33.

Is Elizabeth Olsen headed to Westeros? The actress is addressing casting rumours and fan speculation that she might be signing on for HBO’s “House of the Dragon”.
The “WandaVision” star walked the carpet at Variety‘s Power of Women gala in Los Angeles on Wednesday, and she spoke with Et’s Deidre Behar about the recent rumors that she’s been cast in a role on the “Game of Thrones” prequel series.
“I don’t know how things, like rumours like that, get started, and then people think they’re legitimate,” Olsen said with the laugh.
While Olsen has talked openly about auditioning to pay Khaleesi years ago — the role that eventually went to Emilia Clarke — she said she had no idea how the speculation began that she’s involved with “House of the Dragon”.

Pop culture baby names are nothing new, but for every set of siblings with relatively common names like Luke and Leia, there's a dozen little kids with painfully specific referential names like Khaleesi or Sansa. During the late 2000s, there was an explosion of fandom-inspired baby names like Bella, Edward, and Hermione, but now it seems like Disney-owned properties have taken the throne as the creative inspiration for new parents.
Thanks to a recent study published by OrganicBabyFormula.com (via Comic Book), one of the Marvel inspired baby names growing in popularity is not a hero like Stark, Parker, or even Banner, but instead the name of the person responsible for destroying half of the universe. That's right, people are increasingly naming their babies "Thanos," after the greatest supervillain in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As of publication, Thanos is the ninth-most-popular baby name inspired by Disney-owned characters, which...

Patrick Delany, the CEO of Foxtel, has apologized after calling “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke “short and dumpy” at the “House of the Dragon” premiere in Sydney, Australia.
Delany was talking about how he was late to the HBO hit series, in which Clarke played the powerful Daenerys Targaryen, but struck a nerve when he shared his first reaction to her character: “I was like, ‘What’s this show with the short, dumpy girl walking into the fire?” he said.
Australian news outlet Crikey reports that not only were people offended, but one attendee said “there was a bit of a gasp” after the comment. Another said, “It felt like he was expecting us to laugh along, but people in the room were obviously shocked by it.”

Step aside, winter, because fire and blood are now coming to Westeros.
HBO has released the first official trailer for “House of the Dragon,” the network’s “Game of Thrones” prequel series debuting on Aug. 21.
The show, set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” follows the tumultuous story of House Targaryen under the rule of King Viserys I. And, of course, there is one goal on seemingly every character’s mind: the Iron Throne.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s book “Fire & Blood,” “House of the Dragon” will follow the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war between siblings Aegon II and Rhaenyra, who fought for the throne after the death of their father. The war pits Westeros’ great houses — including the Lannisters and Starks — against each other, resulting in the death of House Targaryen’s most powerful dragons. It would take centuries until Westeros would see another dragon,...
