Born October 22, 1947 in Jefferson County, Kentucky, William Brent Girdler launched his filmmaking career with the 1972 release of Asylum of Satan. He made a total of nine films in six years and provided the music for the Pat Patterson quickie Dr. Gore. Girdler died in a helicopter accident in the Philippines after completing his final movie The Manitou.
Girdler wore many hats in respect to his filmmaking, writing six of his nine films and composing the music for three. He also produced two of his own movies. His early works were filmed in his hometown of Louisville, KY with the assistance of many friends and local investors. Girdler's first two low budget horror entries, Asylum of Satan and Three on a Meathook, made only a slight impact on the drive-in movie scene, but they got his foot in the door with Sam Arkoff and AIP. Girdler subsequently made three blaxploitation films: Zebra Killer, Abby, and Sheba Baby. After his AIP stint ended, Girdler directed the political thriller Project Kill starring Leslie Nielsen. Eager to return to horror, Girdler sought finances from Edward Montoro and thus brought Grizzly and Day of the Animals into the world. Girdler hoped to strike gold when he bought the rights to Graham Masterton's 1976 best-selling novel 'The Manitou' for $50,000, and he did just that. Within three months of securing the rights, Girdler began shooting the movie with Tony Curtis and Susan Strasberg in the leading roles.
William Girdler's most successful effort is Grizzly, a bleak Jaws knockoff starring a giant fuzzy bear. Made on a fairly tight budget, Grizzly ranked among the most successful films of 1976. Abby, a 1974 Exorcist rip-off which prompted a lawsuit from Warner Brothers, was also a box-office hit and made more money via domestic rentals than Blacula. Legal issues prevented Girdler from seeing profits for both films. Other box office hits born of Girdler include the Pam Grier vehicle Sheba Baby and The Manitou (a posthumous hit).- Stunts

Stuntman and actor Bobby Bass was born on August 6, 1936 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Bobby not only was a Judo champion with a third degree black belt, but also was a paratrooper, Green Beret, and a Special Forces instructor in the military prior to being introduced to the stunt business by fellow stuntman and actor Gene LeBell in the mid-1960's. Outside of his extensive work as a stuntman, Bass also taught such people as Mel Gibson, Burt Reynolds, Geena Davis, Susan Sarandon, Danny Glover, Michael Douglas, and Kathleen Turner how to either fight and/or handle weapons (Bass helped popularize the use of the head butt in barroom fights). In addition, Bobby became a staunch advocate of safer working conditions in the stunt industry after stuntwoman and then girlfriend Heidi Von Beltz was paralyzed from the neck down in the wake of an automobile stunt going disastrously awry during the shooting of The Cannonball Run (1981) as well as the tragic helicopter accident that claimed the lives of Vic Morrow and two child actors that occurred during the making of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983). Brantley Gilbert is an American country rock singer and songwriter. He was born January 20, 1985 in Jefferson, Georgia. He began singing and song writing original music when he was thirteen. Brantley was a college student studying at Georgia College & State University and was aspiring to be a marriage and relationship counselor. He held a job as a special-needs counselor at Friendship Elementary in Gainesville, Georgia. When he was nineteen, he was in a near-fatal car accident while driving intoxicated. Critically injured, Gilbert's academic career came to a screeching halt, as most of his memories were erased by the trauma that he suffered. According to Gilbert, the accident spurred him to dedicate himself to his musical career and writing songs helped him recapture some memories he lost in the crash. He has released two albums, both on the Average Joe's Entertainment label. His first album "Modern Day Prodigal Son" was released after signing with Average Joe's Entertainment in mid-2009. His second album "Halfway to Heaven" was released on March, 16 2010. The album peaked at #2 on iTunes Country Album Charts and at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Album Chart for all genres. Jess Lee Brooks a.k.a Jesse Brooks was an exceptional actor. He appeared in many of the top Black Cinema movies of the time, always playing the role of the caring policemen trying to warn the gangsters before it's too late, a father who would die for his kids. Whatever he played he was always a guardian angel over ones he cared for, the only time he would do wrong was if you wronged him or a loved one. Movie audiences felt as though they knew him when seeing him off-screen because on-screen his natural, love, kind word for all and protective persona reminded them of their father. Even in Hollywood films, he often outshone many of the white leading stars with his strong presence like in Sullivan's Travels where he gave an emotional performance that no one will ever forget after seeing it. Brooks died in 1944 and got respectful obituaries written about him. He was a man who wasn't afraid of being emotional or loving but was the definition of a man.- Janet Beecher, daughter of the German vice-consul in Chicago, studied acting at the Art Students League in New York. For almost three decades she made a name for herself as a leading actress in plays on the Broadway stage, beginning with a bit part in 'The Two Orphans' in 1903. Her hits included 'The Lottery Man' (1909-10), 'The Concert' (1910-11), 'A Bill of Divorcement' (1921-22) and 'Courage' (1928-29).
She made her Hollywood debut in 1933. Despite consistently good critical reviews, her theatrical stardom never translated to the screen. She was destined to be typecast as forthright wives and was particularly droll as Mrs.Barnum in The Mighty Barnum (1934), opposite Wallace Beery. She also played sympathetic dowagers, genial friends of the heroine and a multitude of steadfast mothers (best of those being Margaret Sullavan's in So Red the Rose (1935) and Tyrone Power's in The Mark of Zorro (1940). In 1943, she returned to the stage and made her theatrical curtain call as the wife of the title character in 'The Late George Apley' the following year. - Mark Bateman was born on 27 January 1970 in West Jefferson, Ohio, USA. Carl J. Grasso is an actor, playwright, and a member of the Dramatist Guild. Mr. Grasso has been acting and writing for more than twenty years, and recently is co-starring in two Amazon Prime horror films "Theater of Horror and "The Bloody Nun."
Carl J grew up in Sound Beach, New York, and had an interest in the theater when he got to college. He joined the theater club at Suffolk College on Long Island, and learned about the theater and acting through the excellent programs offered.
He got his Bachelor of Arts at SUNY Stony Brook University, where he studied the mechanics of play-writing. It was at Stony Brook, where he met his mentor Jonathan Levy, a Manhattan Theatre Club playwright. Through Levy's teachings, Carl J learned never to settle for mediocre and that all writing is re-writing. With acting, he self-studied by absorbing Stanislaski, William Gillette, Uta Hagen, and Lee Strasburg.
He has written and directed theatrical productions, music videos, and short films. He is working on his fifth full-length stage play and a novella.
Carl J. Revitalized his acting career in 2013 after a bout with Pneumonia, which hospitalized and almost killed him.
On acting, Mr. Grasso's motivation is making sure the audience doesn't fall asleep half-way through ANY of the productions he is either acting in or directing.
"On acting, I say keep it fresh, keep it engaging, so you're audience doesn't catch some "z's" and most important keep it real. You want somebody in the audience to identify with you. Whatever character you're playing, if there is some element that an audience member can feel, that's where you want to go. When choosing an acting part in a play or a movie, My most significant caveat is one thing: Don't bore me. Cast me in the right role. If I don't like the part, I don't do it. I don't do mediocre." - Carl J Grasso 2020- Producer

John Michael Herndon was born in the small rural town of Linn, Missouri, but spent his remaining childhood years in Jefferson City, MO. As an exceptionally shy and introverted child, he expressed himself by being the class 'artist.' In an effort to break out of his shell, he transferred to the much larger public high school where he participated in all the speech and drama classes available, and subsequently began his transition from the visual arts into the dramatic arts.
However, convinced by his family to declare a "practical" major, he spent two years at Lincoln University, a local and historic black college, as a Business student before transferring to SMSU (now called Missouri State.) While at SMSU, he expanded his studies and completed separate undergraduate degrees: a B.S. degree in Business, a B.F.A. degree in Theatre, as well as a Master's degree in Theatre. (Other noted students from the Theatre program are John Goodman and Kathleen Turner.)
In the ensuing years in Los Angeles, he has served dueling objectives -- bouncing back and forth between business and acting. He gained business success by producing events for national charities, major film studios and the City of L.A. During this time, he also pursued an acting career and appeared in a number of indie films and television shows such as Buffy, The Vampire Slayer.
When his oldest sister was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2005, he returned to Missouri and stayed until her death a year later. That personal experience and time for reflection allowed him to return to LA with a reinvigorated sense of purpose and artistic passion. That renewed focus on his acting has led to numerous film roles in subsequent years.
The character portrayals have ranged from urbane lawyers and compassionate doctors to hard edged southern characters like Barry in The Abattoir, the murderous Confederate Army Captain in Deserted or the evil and sadistic Mr. Abaddon in Beneath The Top Hat. Although he is known for his personal sensitivity and joviality, John Michael obviously relishes performing the depth and complexity of a well written antagonist or villain role.- Additional Crew
