Dako Dakovski was born on August 7, 1919 in Tarnak, Lovech, Bulgaria. He was a Bulgarian film director and actor. Shortly after his graduation from Moscow Cinema Institute (VGIK), he had made Under the Joke (1952), a screen version of the classic Bulgarian novel by Ivan Vazov - the story about a Bulgarian village at the time of the last rebellion against the Turks (1976). In the six films that he made Dakovski remained above all the spokesman for the Bulgarian peasant, the chronicler of his struggle for freedom and his effort to maintain this freedom, as illustrated by Troubled Road (1955).
