Jose Esteban Lasala studied Naval Engeneering at the Escuela Tecnica Superior de ingenieria Naval de Madrid. In 1965 he passed the ingress examinations at the Escuela Oficial De Cinematografía (EOC) (Official Cinematographic School), where he graduated as ATC in scriptwriting (1965-1969) and Production (1970-75). This last graduation enables him to produce films, as well as to obtain the necessary syndicate permissions to work as executive producer, line producer and production manager. He made studies at Cambridge University.
During this period, he completed his formation working as second assistant director, writing additional dialogues, text of songs, translator of scripts and interpreter-translator in the shootings. Films: El Hombre De Toledo, La Muerte Se Llama Miriam, El Precio De Un Hombre (Western), Las Leandras (Musical comedy), etc.
Jose Esteban Lasala is the author of a long number of press articles and works on History of the Cinematography. He directed the magazine Cine Nuevo and co-directed Primer Plano. He was the president of the Federation of cine-clubs of the Spanish State (1982-1987). During this period, earlier to the foundation of the Spanish Academy of Motion Pictures, he was the secretary of the commission, who selected the Spanish films candidate for Oscars to Best foreign film. He selected the film Volver A Empezar, which later got the Oscar for foreign film.

He got the First Prize for Best Film In Spanish Language for Zobel-Un Tema (Director and producer). Special mention at Bilbao Festival for Chillida. English footballer Les Shannon was born in Liverpool, on the 12th March 1926, where played over 250 games for Burnley Football Club during the 1950s and went onto a coaching and managerial career after starting his career at his home town club.
Although he enjoyed mixed fortunes as a football manager, his knowledge of football was so highly valued that he worked with Pelé in coordinating the football sequences in Victory (1981).
