- Leslie Towner's Family came from Sussex County England in 1685 and settled in Connecticut. There is a book "Genealogy of the Towner Family" Documenting Generations of Towners into the Twentieth Century. The most outstanding seems to be her great great grandfather and author of the book James W. Towner, who played a critical role in the spiritual development of the United States. Having been associated with several socialist communities at the mid-century and thereafter including the renowned Oneida community of New York. Having passed the bar in Iowa J.W went on to serve his country in the Civil War where he achieved the rank of captain and lost an eye fighting at the battle of Pea Ridge. In the early 1880's the Towners moved to Santa Ana California, along with a group with like beliefs and by the end of the decade had helped carve out a new county called Orange County California and along with the other illustrious families of the time. Upon this they re-warded him with the first Superior Court Judgeship in the county. So not to be remiss we should mention Towner Manufactured founded by Fredrick Towner, Leslie's grandfather who provided farm implements to growers all across the Southern California and also created implements used in the construction of the first freeway connection Downtown Los Angeles California to Pasadena California. So it is with this background that Leslie added her part by becoming integral in the first years of television in the United States by adding her beauty and charm.
