- Capt. Monastario dispatches Sgt. Garcia to delay the arrival of Judge Vasca to Los Angeles, until the Capt. can insure a guilty verdict in the trial of Nacho Torres. Zorro must thwart Monastario's scheme.
- Magistrado Galindo calls together a meeting of all the important landowners in the pueblo, and with his band of rogues he plans on framing the Commandante as an accomplice of Zorro, but the real Zorro shows up.
- The new Commandante arrives at the pueblo, but he is really an impostor and a fellow member of the Eagle Feather Brotherhood with the Magistrado.
- Hoping it will work to his advantage in getting Anna Maria to choose him, Ricardo persuades the Governor to offer amnesty to Zorro if the masked man will reveal his identity. Diego decides to accept the offer so that he may marry Anna Maria himself. But a mysterious stranger in black then holds Diego and Bernardo hostage.
- A professional swordsman, hoping to extract a large payment from the de la Vega household in exchange, provokes Don Diego into hitting him, and then challenges him to a duel. Diego is thus caught between appearing to fight clumsily and thus risking his life, or fighting as the expert that he is and thus risking giving away his identity as Zorro.
- Acting governor Luis Rico and his men grow more and more desperate to capture the fugitive Joaquin Castenada as the population of Monterey grows more and more tired of the ever increasing new regulations.
- A European count arrives at the hacienda looking for the Eagle, not knowing that he has left to take new headquarters in the town. Investigating to find out what the count's business with the Eagle is, Diego and Bernardo discover that cannonballs are being brought into Varga's headquarters hidden inside art vases.
- Don Ramon inherits the family ranch, but loses it in a card game to Carlos Urista. Magistrado Galindo plans on taking control of the hacienda and controlling the water supply to all the other ranches. Zorro steps in to prevent injustice.
- After witnessing a stranger's fencing skills, Capt. Monastario plans to discredit Zorro by disguising the stranger as Zorro, and have him rob the rich landowners during a social gathering--but the real Zorro arrives on the scene.
- In another attempt to obtain wealth for himself, Basilio uses Garcia's dreams and an obsolete law in order to convict Moneta's father of treason--for owning property bought from countries other than Spain.
- Bernardo finds a young woman, unconscious, after she has been robbed and her carriage overturned. When she comes to, she thinks Bernardo is the one who attacked and robbed her. What's worse, when her servant who was riding with her is found, he also identifies Bernardo as the one who robbed them. It will be up to Zorro to bring out the truth.
- Sgt. Garcia is framed for the theft of the soldiers' payroll by a false witness, who is a member of the eagle feather secret society. Zorro must prove Garcia innocent before he can be executed.
- Capt. Monastario and Sgt. Garcia hatch a plan to capture Zorro. Sgt. Garcia pretends to be dishonorably discharged from the military, letting it be known he wants revenge, in hopes of drawing near to Zorro.
- Senor Verdugo, whom Diego now realizes is trustworthy, agrees to deliver the investment money to San Francisco, along with Garcia and a newly arrived lieutenant sent to accompany them. Unknown to all of them, however, is that the real lieutenant was ambushed and the impostor posing as him is actually working with the robbers.
- After the Governor is injured in an apparent attack while traveling in Los Angeles, he appoints his aide, Captain Felipe Arellano, as acting Governor while he recuperates. But Arellano starts to yield to temptation when a man suggests that his new title might become permanent if the Governor were to die.
- Arellano and the Rebatos plan once again to kill the Governor. Diego and Alejandro are aware of their plans but Diego decides not to act until they can get all of the Rebatos together so that they know who they are.
- Joe Crane again hides out at Carlotta's house, not intending to go on his way until he has retrieved his furs from the jail in town. What he doesn't know is that Garcia has sold the furs to Don Carlos, who plans to use them as bait to catch Crane and kill him.
- Knowing that another attempt will be made against the Governor's life, Diego proposes that a party be thrown in his honor, hoping to force the conspirators' hand and expose them. But Arellano complicates matters by persuading Leonar that it be a masquerade party.
- Capt. Monastario wrongfully imprisons Nacho Torres' wife and daughter, in hopes of luring Zorro to their rescue. Hiding Sgt. Garcia's soldiers throughout the plaza, he plans on capturing Zorro.
- To show she is telling the truth about her claim that her father wrote her from Los Angeles, Anita looks for the letters he wrote, but cannot find them in her bags and claims they were stolen. Diego suspects that somebody has been deliberately deceiving her, and that the attempts to get her to return to Spain are part of an effort to cover up the truth.
- In Monterey, Diego and his friend Ricardo del Amo both serenade Anna Maria Verdugo. However, Ricardo is an incurable practical joker, and the practical joke he then plays on Diego has "boy who cried wolf" repercussions.
- When Don Diego returns to his home in California and discovers the corrupt Commandante, he dons the mask of Zorro to right the wrongs.
- Sgt. Garcia discovers that someone has stolen the pueblo's gunpowder, and replaced it with charcoal. Raquel, Enrique and Salvador plan to kill Sgt. Garcia, but Zorro tries to prevent it from happening.
- Against Diego's advice, Romero persuades Anna Maria to agree to the kidnappers insistence that she meet them for proof her father is alive. When they arrive, however, the kidnappers take Anna Maria hostage instead, and send her father and Romero back for the ransom money. When they return to Monterey for the money, Don Alejandro, who has arrived in town, recognizes Romero as a man not to be trusted.
- A gypsy woman comes to the pueblo with a couple of golden nuggets, and a prospector sees them and kidnaps her. Forcing her to take him to where she found them, he discovers an Indian gold mine. Zorro must save her.
- Garcia and Reyes find a Chinese youth hiding in a merchant's warehouse. The youth can only speak Chinese and thus cannot communicate with anyone in town, though Bernardo, through sign language, learns that he had been a prisoner on a ship. Diego brings something the youth wrote in Chinese characters to a priest to interpret. But an American seaman arrives and claims the boy is a murderer.
- With the arrival of a new Commandante, Don Diego thinks his work as Zorro is done, until the Commandante is killed.
- Two members of the Eagle Feather Brotherhood are impersonating tax collectors, and filling the jails with delinquent tax payers. With the jails overflowing, Zorro must expose the phony tax collectors.
- When a drought causes tensions among ranchers, it results in death and it's up to Zorro to find the truth.
- When a childhood friend of Diego's arrives from Mexico City, named Magdalena Montes, he begins to court her. However, Don Diego soon suspects she is involved with the Eagle Feather Brotherhood.
- Don Alejandro is about to tell Anita she must return to Spain, until he notices the brooch she is wearing. Anita says her father sent it to her from Los Angeles. Alejandro recognizes it as having belonged to Diego's mother, and remembers giving it to the church for auction after her death. Diego and Alejandro realize that if they can determine who bought the brooch at auction, they can find Anita's father. But Anita is in danger from Ruiz and Jose, who have already found her father, and hold him for ransom until she brings her gold to them in exchange.
- While the Governor recuperates in the de la Vega hacienda, Arellano tries to talk his daughter into signing a statement declaring him incompetent. When she refuses, he again considers the proposal of the Rebvatos who want the Governor dead.
- Carlos Murietta hides his box of stolen jewels in Jose Mordante's blacksmith shop, but Bernardo discovers them. Mordante attempts to kill Bernardo and keep the jewels, but Zorro arrives to save Bernardo. The jewels are missing however.
- Carlos Murrietta's brother, Pedro, arrives from South America with the second shipment of stolen jewels. Zorro searches the blacksmith's shop for the first shipment of jewels, and must tangle with both Murrietta brothers.
- Magistrado Varga plans to keep Don Diego's hacienda for himself, so Don Diego devises a scheme to make the hacienda appear haunted.
- Here we first meet "The Eagle" - Jose Sebastian Varga, who sends two of his men into the pueblo with kegs containing a load of stolen gunpowder. Meanwhile, Commandante Toledano is sent to San Diego to investigate the theft of the gunpowder, but his wife Raquel stays behind in Los Angeles - and we learn that she too is working for The Eagle.
- Believing Zorro to be dead, and with most of Garcia's men out of town, Varga decides to put his plan to take over all of California in motion. He imprisons Don Alejandro, Diego, Bernardo, and Garcia, and his men overwhelm what there is of Garcia's forces. All Varga needs is the list of names of the men in Don Alejandro's army. To stop the mad "Eagle", Diego must pretend to betray his father.
- Capt. Monastario arrests Don Diego for being Zorro, and plans to present him to a visiting dignitary, Viceroy Don Esteban. Don Diego manages to outsmart Capt. Monastario, and he is relieved of command.
- Ricardo del Amo's practical jokes do not endear him to the humorless Commandante, and when his next joke involves him impersonating Zorro, it leads to him being sentenced to hang.
- Garcia is asked to guard a pouch containing a large amount of money belonging to a friend of Don Alejandro's. However, a fortune teller, who is working with two thieves, uses her wiles to manipulate the sergeant so that she and her friends can obtain the money.
- The Magistrado and his associates plan on using a horse race as a diversion while they smuggle arms. Zorro uncovers the scheme, and makes an attempt to stop them.
- Diego's uncle, Estevan de la Cruz, arrives at the de la Vega hacienda, and throws a lavish party to celebrate his arrival. At the celebration, he tries to sell jewels to several visitors. Diego suspects that the jewels, which Estevan says he bought in Spain, are actually fakes.
- After escaping from jail mountain man Joe Crane hides out at barmaid Carlotta's house. Garcia and his lancers barely miss finding him there, but a worse problem for Crane is that Don Carlos and his bodyguard have brought a vicious half-breed wolf to search him out.
- A blacksmith has constructed a huge iron box which will be used to transport the town's tax money to the Governor. He has also made a large lock and key. The key is mailed to the Governor ahead of time. Unfortunately, the blacksmith's son is romantically involved with a woman who, unbeknown to him, is working with thieves who intend to steal the money, and plan to use the boy and his father to get it any way they can.
- Consistently frustrated by Zorro in his attempts to court and marry Margarita, Estevan tells Diego he is giving up and leaving for Spain, but he actually has one final plan left.
- The king's emissary Andres Basilio arrives in Los Angeles and immediately alienates everyone with his arrogance. He interrupts the celebration of Garcia's birthday party, impugning the loyalty of all for having fun while Spain is at war, and throwing Garcia's piñata in the trash. He also demands that everyone in town buy bonds to finance the war, and places outrageously high levies on them which most cannot afford.
- Carlos Murrieta arrives in Los Angeles, but when he makes advances on Maria Crespo, young Don Rodolfo becomes jealous and challenges him to a duel. Zorro intervenes, and discovers Murrieta is an agent of the Eagle Brotherhood.
- Anita Cabrillo comes to Los Angeles looking for her father, whom she has not seen in twelve years. But nobody in town has ever heard of her father or his hacienda. Diego invites Anita to stay at the de la Vega hacienda until the mystery can be solved.
- The new Commandante arrives in the pueblo, and appears to be an honest and just man. Realizing the Commandante is fiercely jealous of his wife, the Magistrado sends a 'Don Juan' to serenade her, but Zorro thwarts his plan.
- Monterey's new acting governor issues a proclamation forbidding the peones from keeping stands in the Plaza.
- Romaldo and Buena, two indentured servants, want to get married, but must have the permission of their masters. Don Diego, Buena's master, gives his permission, but Romaldo's master Don Tomas does not. Diego must talk Romaldo out of his idea of running away with Buena. But Don Tomas's vaquero wants Buena for himself and lies and schemes to frustrate the young lovers' plans.
- Anna Maria arrives at her house to find it ransacked, and that her father has been kidnapped and held for ransom. The treacherous servant Pablo tells her that he will be released for 45,000 pesos. Fearing for her father's life, she refuses to tell Diego, though he suspects what is going on.
- Magistrado Varga sets a trap to unveil the members of the citizens army by having Don Diego's servant call a special meeting. Zorro discovers the scheme, and attempts to prevent it.
- Upon returning to town with Padre Simeon, Garcia finds almost the entire town, including his lancers, quarantined due to the measles. The padre has brought back a golden chalice, which he shows to his ex-convict servant, who then decides to steal the chalice and take advantage of the quarantine to cover his tracks and escape.
- The new Magistrado, Jose Sabastian Varga, arrives in Los Angeles and immediately takes over Don Diego's hacienda. He plans to use it as his headquarters, but Don Diego and Bernardo suspect he works for The Eagle.
- Don Juan Ortega is still pretending to be the Commandante of the pueblo, and when he sees Rosarito Cortez, he attempts to kill her before she can identify him as an impostor. Zorro must intervene and save her.
- The Murrietta brothers plot to retrieve their missing jewels from Zorro. They wait for him at the tannery, but Zorro enlists the help of Sgt. Garica.
- Tornado goes missing from his stall, and though Diego, Alejandro, and Bernardo go searching for him, he is found by Estevan, who keeps him and plans to use him to win money in a race, and then to find and collect the reward for Zorro's capture.
- Basilio decides to keep the gold he has collected from the area landlords rather than ship it to Spain for the war effort as he is supposed to do. To cover up for his deceit he rigs a contraption to cause an explosion on the ship that was to carry the gold, so that it will be lost at sea. Zorro has to stop this from happening.
- As soon as Don Diego and Bernardo arrive in Monterey to look into an import business, they are attacked and robbed by two men who expected them to be carrying a large amount of money belonging to the investors who sent them. Because a number of investors have been robbed on the road, they had decided not to bring the money yet. Suspicious as to how the robbers knew the exact amount they were supposed to carry, Diego suspects that the owner of the import business might be involved.
- Magistrado Galindo arrests a peasant on phony charges of civil unrest, and sentences him to be executed at midnight. He stations the soldiers around the plaza so as to capture Zorro if he attempts a rescue.
- Still feeling that he is in competition with Zorro, and Diego, for Anna Maria's affections, Ricardo publicly challenges Zorro to a duel in the hopes of unmasking him.
- Raquel Toledano expresses doubts concerning her involvement in the Eagle Feather Brotherhood, and is taken hostage by the other members as they prepare to move their stolen gunpowder. Zorro must stop them.
- Diego sets a trap by telling Verdugo that the people bringing the investors' money will be coming to Monterey via the Guadalupe trail, when in fact they are supposed to be using the Camino Real. Unfortunately, Garcia and Reyes, who are bringing the money, decide they will try to outsmart the robbers by taking the Guadalupe trail instead, therefore falling into the robbers' hands.
- Capt. Monastario arrests a man for being Zorro, and attempts to hang him. The real Zorro rides to the rescue.
- The Commandante sets a trap for Zorro by placing an imitation Zorro in the plaza, and waiting for the real Zorro to appear. Capturing Tornado they hold an auction, hoping to catch Zorro bidding on his horse.
- Basilio tries once again to use Garcia as bait to capture and kill Zorro. When this fails, he decides that Bernardo is the key to Zorro's capture.
- Estevan announces his engagement to Margarita Cotazar. Knowing that his gold-digger uncle is interested only in her money, Diego determines to stop him, as Zorro.
- Alerted by Don Alejandro, the governor returns to Monterey. However, Luis Rico manages to convince him of his good will and innocence in the troubles that have plagued the town in his absence.
- Rough, crusty American mountain man Joe Crane wanders into Los Angeles, and immediately manages to offend many Spanish with his crude manners, and also with his straightforward approach to a barmaid. A landowner challenges him to a duel, and is quickly beaten and humiliated, but thus vows to kill the mountain man. Garcia jails Crane for entering Spanish territory without permission, and also for his protection.
- Raquel, Salvador and Enrique get Sgt. Garcia to imprison Don Diego on charges he is Zorro, in hopes that the real Zorro will come to his rescue, and be caught. Zorro must somehow escape from his jail cell.
- Don Nacho Torres leaves sanctuary and returns home. The soldiers surround his estate as Capt. Monastario searches the hacienda for the escaped fugitive. Zorro helps Señor Torres escape.
- A search for Zorro results in the wrong man being accused and it is up to Zorro to save him before it is too late.
- In an effort to discredit Zorro, Capt. Monestario has a Zorro impersonator rob a crown of jewels from the mission. Zorro must redeem his reputation.
- Don Diego uses a ghost story to keep Nacho Torres safe at the mission.
- Nacho Torres takes sanctuary in the church, and Capt. Monastario attempts to flush him out by being cruel to the Indian workers at the mission. Zorro must ride to the rescue.
- Don Alejandro is wounded by the soldiers, and is being tracked down by Capt. Monastario. Don Diego is under house arrest, and must find a way to ride to his father's aid without arousing suspicions.
- Ramon Castillo arrives in Los Angeles to discover the pay wagon for the army carrying 5000 pesos is due. Ramon has unfinished business with Zorro after he was beaten for the Royal trophy back in Spain. Zorro foils the robbery, but in doing so gives his identity away through his sword technique. Ramon decides he is going destroy his old rival and reveal Zorro to the world. Zorro has other ideas and hatches his own scheme to outsmart Ramon
- A group of bandits led by El Cuchillo arrives in Los Angeles, and set their sights on a silver shipment Garcia has been assigned to protect. When Zorro foils their plan, El Cuchillo vows to get even, and plans next to steal a cache of valuable hides.
- A young lady, Constancia known to Zorro arrives in town. A young man, Miguel also arrives and meets her. Constancia tells Zorro they are no more than friends. He becomes suspicious at some of the evasive answers the boy gives about his past. Zorro realizes she intends to elope with Miguel. Realizing Constancia has a rather substantial dowry, he goes about delaying the elopement till he can confirm Miguel's true intentions.
- Humiliated again by Zorro, El Cuchillo vows he will not leave Los Angeles while Zorro is alive, and not until after he has made one last raid. He also is beginning to suspect Zorro's true identity.
