- Evening falls on the mountains. Alex Hugo runs down a path, his hands bleeding. He returns to his car and has a traffic accident. Roll over, waking up in the hospital, and amnesia: Alex can't remember the last six months of his life.
- The stranger: The whole village is celebrating: the local ice-hockey team has reached the semi-finals. Meanwhile, up in the mountains, a young black woman, hounded and injured, falls into a ravine. The next day Alex and Angelo find an adorable little baby in its carrycot, in front of the country police station.
- Forced to visit his mother in Marseille, Angelo leaves his friend Alex to undertake alone the climbing of a macif. Seriously injured after a fall, barely conscious, he is saved after dark by a woman in a car. Once out of the hospital, Alex sets out to find her and finds her among members of a remote community deep in the mountains. Caroline asks him to help her explain the disappearance of her young son Flavien five years ago.
- Alex and Angelo must deal with the disappearance of Sergeant Leblanc. The officer vanished suddenly, leaving behind only a strange note.
- The roots of evil: Hikers make a macabre discovery when they pitch their tent: the body of a young girl from Lusagne, brutally murdered then roughly hidden in the bushes. Very quickly anonymous letters put the blame on someone from the region, who it turns out, has a heavily-charged criminal past.

The Marseille crime squad lock the region down, but Alex Hugo launches his own manhunt and finds one of the fugitives. At the same time, Angelo is worried when he sees someone from his past make a sudden reappearance.

- The discovery of a body at the edge of a torrent disturbs the quiet life of Alex Hugo, a former cop in Marseille, now a rural guard in a secluded post in the mountains because of the unusual violence not seen that area. Very quickly "the killer with the axe" is caught but a copy-cat takes advantage to imitate the mode of operation of this criminal and assassinate the director of a cheese dairy. Alex soon realises that this murder may be related to a Marseille case of fifteen years ago. The sleeping instinct of the cop awakens. He will have to find the killer along with Caroline Wacquier, an investigator from the criminal brigade, who stirs the ghosts of the past.
- Lisa Leblanc does a bungee jump and crashes. Everything indicates a suicide, but very quickly, Alex Hugo, who knows the young woman, realizes that she may have been pushed to kill himself. In addition, someone seems to have filmed the fall very, very close-by. William Delapierre, a young man with no family or attachment, was coldly executed with a bullet in the skull, then abandoned in the mountains. Alex Hugo is convinced that the case conceals a mystery more complex than a simple settlement of account. The discovery of a wild adolescent, lost in the forest, gives him reason. Then begins a long journey to discover the frightening truth.
- Lusagne in the late afternoon: the children of the summer camp are returning from a long day of mountain walking, but Justine, 10 years old has disappeared. Her instructor, Marianne Helme, who is looking for her, has not returned either, and night falls. Alex and Angelo immediately mobilise volunteers and discover with terror the body of Marianne stranded in a torrent but no trace of Justine. Very quickly, the suspicions are on Jérémy Raveau, a strange person that subsists thanks to odd jobs. Raveau is escorted to the rural police station where the locals are demanding justice. Lt. Renart of the criminal brigade in Marseille is responsible for the investigation. But Raveau's mental handicap makes interrogation particularly difficult. Usually so professional, Angelo is this time particularly tested by the case. The father of the missing girl is a close friend and little Justine is his goddaughter. In the face of an emergency situation and with Angelo blinded by his emotions, Alex will have to act alone at the risk of breaking the strong bond between them.

The passenger, Pierre Clément, owner of a restaurant of up above Lusagne, dies on the road. On the scene, a witness thought he saw a white form inside the vehicle and then saw it disappear. Alex Hugo discovers that another apparition of the "White Lady" took place in the same place a few years before, just before another drama - Accident or murder? This second hypothesis is validated by police reports confirming the presence of a passenger in the rear of the car. Monique, the seductive widow who inherits everything, and that the death of her husband seems almost relieved, immediately becomes a suspect. At Clarée, a hamlet isolated from three houses where she lives, there reigns a very strange atmosphere; Everyone is watching and seems to hide big secrets .
- The bodies of Isabelle and Antoine Lefort are found in a mountain refuge. Isabelle was seriously ill and the couple obviously wanted to remain united even in death. A romantic and moving story? Perhaps, but Alex Hugo is not totally convinced. What if this double suicide was actually something else?

As a psychosis gradually takes over Lusagne, rumors blame the bikers camping in the village. Alex Hugo investigates, asking Cochise, an old biker and local resident, to act as mediator.
- As Alex Hugo is kayaking down a river, he witnesses a man falling from the summit of the gorges. The victim was about to take part in a very difficult selection test. Alex is convinced that this is murder.
