- Olivia Spencer, (Jacqueline Murphy) frustrated by not being a successful actress, makes a deal with a handsome "Devil" named Mr. Z (Leon Winters) and is hurtled into a world of danger, fear and heartbreak in old Hollywood.

She is an obsessive liar and will do anything to avoid getting caught. She has been taking filmmaking classes at NYC without being enrolled there and is making a documentary about life that she is obsessed with. She returns for the wedding of their cousin and must confront the demons she has had as well, or end up alone living in a seas of lies.

- On her birthday actress Olivia Spencer tells her friend Quinn she lost another audition. Quinn suggests she quit, but Olivia explains she wants to be an actress "like Veronica Lake" and asks for a Tarot card reading. Quinn refuses, saying Olivia needs to make decisions on her own. Mr. Z, a charming handsome man overhears them and introduces himself as a man who can solve all her problems. Olivia is interested, but Quinn tries to make her see reality. Mr. Z casts a spell on Quinn to silence her, and then seduces Olivia into an agreement. Taking the tarot Card from Quinn we see it is "The Star." Mr. Z tells Olivia she will be the star of her dreams, but she can never come back. Their agreement is sealed with a kiss and Olivia is transported somewhere, but where?
- Olivia Spencer (Jacqueline Murphy) arrives at the World Famous Cicada Club and finds herself transformed into a major movie star where everyone knows her and applauds her. Paparazzi take her pictures, people gasp at her arrival and she enters the club like a queen. Her husband Billy (Steve Carnahan) grabs her arm and pleads with her desperately to talk to "Mr. Meyer." Olivia resists, and is called to the stage by the singer of the club, saying Olivia is her "best friend". Olivia sings a duet for the admiring crowd. During the song Olivia sees Billy in the back of the club kissing a beautiful young blonde.
- Olivia Spencer (Jacqueline Murphy) has just finished singing and while looking for her cheating husband Billy (Steve Carnahan) bumps into Mr. Meyer (Jeff Rector), the head of the studio. He has bad news. The big part he promised to Olivia has been given to the younger actress Starlet Moore (Maria Elena Infantino). When Mr. Meyer offers her the part of the mother, Olivia becomes outraged and reminds him she has a contract with MGM. Meyer tells her "not anymore, my dear." On the stage the singer (Bridget Brady) announces her "Best Friend", Starlet Moore, and Olivia is betrayed and heartbroken.
- Olivia (Jacqueline Murphy) looks for Billy (Steve Carnahan) and finds him drunk behind the bar. She overhears two men talking about her with insults about her performance in bed. She then encounters Starlet Moore (Maria Elena Infantino), who also insults her, and then finds herself trapped in a phone booth with a lecherous "lover" named Romeo (Tom Hallick), who wants her to have an affair against her will.
- Having escaped Romeo Valentine (Tom Hallick) and the other nightmares of the evening, Olivia Spencer (Jacqueline Murphy) takes solace on the balcony. She remembers all the horrible experiences she has had, and then encounters a familiar face. Quinn (Lynne Newton), now in a 1940's gown and hairstyle, is somehow, mysteriously, there as well. She explains she is looking out for Olivia, and has only to be true to herself and all will be right. Olivia then encounters "Davey" Haze (David Bartlett), owner of the Cicada Club. Mr. Haze offers a proposal for Olivia to headline at the club in exchange for the handling of the gambling debt of Olivia's husband. Before they can finish a scream is heard and they all rush inside the club.
- Now inside the club, everyone watches while Billy (Steve Carnahan), drunk, is on stage apologizing to Olivia (Jacqueline Murphy). Before she can say anything, Billy shoots himself. Devastated, Olivia doesn't know where to turn, and then sees Mr. Z (Leon Winters) at the bar seducing another young girl using the Tarot Cards like he did with her. Olivia threatens Mr. Z who laughs in her face and calmly explains she can't hurt him. He reminds her there is no turning back. A fan (Richard Riehle) demanding an autograph bumps into them and the Tarot Cards go flying. Olivia picks up the "Wheel Of Fortune" card and the time travel starts again. The card returns her to the sushi bar from the first episode. Olivia sees Mr. Z and Quinn (Lynne Newton) in a battle between good and evil, and Quinn wins. Mr. Z admits Quinn beat him "this time", but it is up to Olivia as to whether she is staying here or going back to The Cicada Club World. Olivia sees both good and bad about that idea, and smiles, intrigued by the possibilities.
