Not too many TITANIC actors and actresses actually had first hand experience!

Presumed now lost.....I actually saw some stills from this very early flick many years ago during a long-forgotten British TV documentary made even some years before A NIGHT TO REMEMBER.

Running for just 9 minutes and 56 seconds, this one reeler was made by Etienne Arnaud who later that year made one of six subsequent versions of THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW (re-filmed most recently by Tim Burton in 2000)

The story is that of a young girl Dorothy who survived the sinking and her retelling of the tragedy to her parents. What is incredible is that the actress Dorothy Gibson, basically playing herself, WAS actually on board the TITANIC when it foundered just a month earlier. The dress she wears in the film's flash-backs is that which she wore on board Titanic the night of the tragedy.

Dorothy's father is played by English actor Alec B Francis (b 1867) who later played Inspector Ichabod Crane in THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW, the role taken by Johnny Depp in Burton's update. It was Francis' 13th movie, he went on to appear in more than 150 films.
