Molly Make-Believe Lost Marguerite Clark Film

Warning: Spoilers
A 1916 film review states; Marguerite Clark in a picturization of the celebrated romance. The many thousands who have read the story "Molly Make-Believe" will recognize at once that Miss Clark is ideally suited to play the role of delightful little Molly, one of the most lovable characters of fiction.

Molly Make-Believe was based on a very popular novel by Eleanor Hallowell and the film was produced by Adolph Zukor and directed by J.Searle Dawley. Distributed by Paramount Pictures, finding a synopsis has been difficult and this is all I can provide for the reader. Clarks plays a young girl named Molly who takes her brother and pet bulldog to the city to seek their fortune. Molly incorporates herself into a company that furnishes letters to persons ill in mind or body, which eventually brings her romance. The New York Times reported,"Miss Clark is one of the most satisfactory of the film stars because in addition to her beauty, which does not suffer in being translated to the screen, she has intelligence. Altogether, Molly Make-Believe is a picture that will make friends for the movies.

A very glowing praise for the popular actress who was Mary Pickford's closet rival in the popularity polls. Sadly, this silent film is lost and with such raving reviews, it is a tragedy for silent film fans who cannot watch this talented actress and enjoy what the audiences of 1916 certainly appreciated.
