Lost Douglas Fairbanks Action Film
PamelaShort5 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Douglas Fairbanks both produced and wrote this film's story and screenplay with Allan Dwan directing the film. The story takes place in the Moroccan city of El Harib, where Fairbanks plays George Travelwell who learns that a beautiful girl, Ysail ( Pauline Curley ) is to be sold into a harem controlled by the brutal Basha El Harib ( Frank Campeau ). When George tries to rescue Ysail and her mother ( Edythe Chapman ) he is put in prison, but escapes just as a bomb is set to go off. George then disguises himself as a female attendant to El Harib, then enters the harem and rescues Ysail. After he manages to fight off El Harib, the police, local bandits and the townspeople, George, Ysail, and her mother speed off in his car over the desert to safety.

Released in July 1918, this silent action/drama was produced by Douglas Fairbanks Pictures Corporation and distributed by Famous Players-Lasky/Art craft Pictures. Sadly this silent film is presumed lost.
