"Wolves of Kultur" is a silent movie serial made during WWI. However, oddly, the DVD from Alpha Video, "Thrillers of the Silent Screen" only gives the first chapter. Because of this, my review ONLY is about that first chapter.

Alice's uncle has developed a new wireless torpedo. Unfortunately, when he shows it to his friends, he doesn't realize that Hartman and Zaremba are evil spies. They soon steal the plans and leave the uncle for dead. Alice and Bob spend the rest of the film tracking down the evil duo and bringing them to justice. The chapter ends with Alice and Bob tied up...waiting to be blown to bits!

This is a grainy but entertaining little film...but really needs to be seen as it is intended...not just a single chapter. I wish I knew where I could find it.

Dated, yet gripping

It's hard for most modern audiences to understand, let alone become involved in, a 15-chapter serial from the silent era. For those of you who love silent film, you will rejoice in the knowledge that this treasure has not been lost to fire or nitrate disintegration. Charles Hutchison and Leah Baird, as the lovers involved in an international plot to develop a secret weapon, are amazing in this film. They do their own stunts, such as canoeing through wild rapids, jumping off a lighthouse, and climbing the sides of buildings. The stunts alone make this worth watching; no doubles, no CGI, just the two leads doing incredibly dangerous work.
