Arthur Phelps, a young soldier who has been injured in the war, is recuperating in a hospital in France. He meets Rosa Duchene, who is a famous French dancer. Later, Phelps becomes an oil prospector in Texas, where he meets a cantina girl named Poll, who works for Roderiquez. Rosa and her troupe come to entertain. The two fall for each other. While waiting to see Rosa perform, Phelps is given a trick cigar by Poll. The cigar explodes, and blinds Phelps. Later, he hears Poll imitating Rosa and believes that's who she is. Poll, feeling guilty, passes herself of as Rosa, and the two are married. But an operation restores his sight, and he realizes he was deceived. He leaves Poll in search of Rosa. He locates her in Siam. After a series of adventures, he realizes that Rosa is selfish, and goes home to find Poll, who is working in a Mexican border town. Poll is being pursued by Roderiquez. Roderiquez tries to kill Phelps, but Poll intercedes and is almost killed instead. She recovers, and she and Phelps are happily reunited.
