When the front page of The Press is shown with the heading "Gang War Rages," one of the stories is entitled "Star Received with Great Ovation" and "received" is incorrectly spelled "recieved."
The date of Breckenridge's reference letter reads October 12, 1931, and The "Sphinx Club" invitation states that the formal opening is Tuesday, April 7. Obviously, since the club event followed Breckenridge's hiring at the newspaper, the club opening would then be in 1932. In 1931 April 7 was a Tuesday, but in 1932 April 7 was a Thursday, therefore, an error was made with the date of the reference letter.
Early in the film, Breck Lee shows a letter dated Oct. 12, 1931. But near the end, a newspaper is shown with a heading "Dry Law Gets a Party on its 11th Birthday", which would date it Jan. 17, 1931 (11 years from the enactment of Prohibition).
When Breckenridge and Breezy are ringing Marcia Collins' doorbell, no sound is heard although she responds to the doorbell ring.
The film doesn't explain why the Sphinx Club would proceed with the club opening and engage in an illegal activity despite the expose written by Breckenridge for The Press newspaper. This led to a police raid. It would be illogical for mobsters to behave this way especially with such a major investment at stake unless they had reassurance from corrupt officials.
