Fine Historical Epic!
chainshot21 October 2007
Actually a very good historical film for the time (or anytime). A good film is just that and cannot be dismissed because it is nationalistic or made under an unpopular regime. "Der Choral Von Leuthen" was actually produced shortly before Hitler took power not under the Nazis. The well staged and exciting massive battle scenes are the hallmark of this forgotten epic. Otto Gebuhr was perfect as the soldier King Frederick II in appearance and he acted the part very convincingly. Hollywood might well consider making a something like this about George Washington instead of the politically correct drivel and remakes of previous films they pump out today. No wonder why people are not going to the movies anymore!

One of the best 1930's German Movies.
LeParas-112 November 2007
No its not a Nazi Movie. Its one of those typical 1930's movies, where Prussian History was put on Film. This Film is one of the better ones. Excellent staff, excellent Actors, good script. The Film was shot from November 1932 to December 1932. Day of the Premiere was the 7th March 1933 at the UFA Palast in Berlin. But of course for some British guys in here it must be a Nazi Movie, oh my god they are proud of their history, they must be Nazi. You should not believe in your own propaganda. This movie shows how Prussia was made, how they had to fight against Russians,Austrians and French, not to mention the financier of all the British.
