the tango was popular in German back in the 30's

Warning: Spoilers
When I turn on to live 365 internet radio some times I click it on to golden oldies. Then I click it on to the 30's then to Wiemar radio punk. It plays all the old songs and music of Europe from the 20's and 30's. Occasionally they will play a German tango and song that I like.Well I now know what year it was made and it was part of this movie and a hit in Germany ,36 37. I think it's Mein Kein tango ,I think. This was Marika Rokk's first hit in Germany. She displayed her dancing and acrobatics in this German classic musical. She plays an aspiring actress and singer, where there's a scene in which she is doing and opera. It's not her voice. That part was dubbed. Her fiancé wants her to quit show business, played by the same actor who played the lingerie sales man in the porch conscert,1936.She refuses and calls of the engagement. She gets a letter from a mysterious person who saw her performance and promises her to make a star out of her in New york city. So she goes to New york, on a cruise ship, She meets a society lady and a Dr.,played by Hans Sohnker, in which she starts to fall for.She also get's harassed by Paul Hoffman who claims he an impresario who offers her a contract and a lot of money but she doesn't believe him. Hans chases him away. She comes to New York only to discover that the theater director, played by Oscar Sima was not aware of this and they had already a star,Minnie May.Well she goes back one more time only to finally see the impresario who wrote the letter, played by Alfred Abel,.Later on he invites her to dinner .She also finds out that Paul Hoffman was his son, later in th film.So she's put in the revue and this tees off the main star Minnie. The impresario daughter and son are worried that she's after his money. The press finds out about this an links a romance between them which makes Hans jealous.Alfred proposes to her and she turns her down .His children and the main star tries to frame Marika on a robbery charge but Hans comes to the rescue. She becomes a success but her heart is with Hans so she quits her career and goes back to him to Germany. There is exterior footage of New york city and Jones's beach. But whether it was actually shot in U.S.A is a question mark at that time America was blinded to what was going on in Germany. This is a good classic .Amazon.com was selling used Imports DVD classic films but this one had plastic wrap on clam box. As of 04/15/ 09, This wasn't Marika Rokks first picture in Germany and Alfred Abel plays a financial magnate not a Impersorio.
