- [en route to the train station, Frog's wagon breaks down]
- Frog: Hey!
- Gene Autry: That's a fine way to meet the new boss. Come on, snap into it! Get that wagon fixed!
- Frog: Well, it took him two weeks to get here from England. It isn't going to hurt him to wait four or five minutes more.
- Frog: Hey, Gene. Hey, Gene!
- Army Sergeant: Shut up and stay in line!
- Frog: Hey, mister...
- Army Sergeant: Quiet!
- [Frog wimpers]
- Gene Autry: Hi there, folks.
- Henry 'Windy' Wyndham: You're Gene Autry, the steward of the estate, I presume.
- Gene Autry: Well, the foreman, yes.
- Juan: Sing for us Señor Autry, huh?
- Gene Autry: Sure, I will. Boots and Saddles, boys!
- [singing]
- Gene Autry: Take me back, To my boots and saddle, Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh ooh-ooh, Let me see that gen'ral store, Let me ride that range once more, Give me my boots and saddle...
- Gene Autry: Fine fellow, ol' Spud was.
- Henry 'Windy' Wyndham: Spud? You called him Spud?
- Gene Autry: Yeah, he had a weakness for potatoes. Besides, we all liked him.
- Spud - aka Edward, Earl of Grandby: Mr. Autry, will you accept my apology? I should have listened to you.
- Gene Autry: Ah, forget it. We all make mistakes. The big thing is to admit 'em.
- Frog: You're a regular feller after all. We could make a swell Westerner out of you.
- Spud - aka Edward, Earl of Grandby: That would be splendid.
- Bernice Allen: When I get through with Mr. Gene Autry, he's going to be the laughingstock of this county.
- Jim Neale: You're not going to let a fresh cowboy spoil your entire day are you?
- Bernice Allen: He's done it already.
- Gene Autry: [singing] Ridin' the range all day, Champ's actin' strange all day, Guess that he knows my days are dreary, Ridin' the range all day, Ridin' my life away...
- Frog: [singing] Dusty desert, Dusty hills, Keep up a-blowin' till your ears are filled, Oh, dusty daytimes, Dusty dreams...
- Gene Autry: Maybe I could tame her by singing to her.
- [singing]
- Gene Autry: You're as sweet as the red rose in June, dear, I love you, adore you, I do, Why each night through loveland we wander, sweetheart, Telling love stories anew...
- Bernice Allen: Oh, men are all alike. Make a girl think you like her and all you really want is just information on army contracts.
- Gene Autry: But, that isn't all I want. Say, I'd like to take you out tonight.
- Bernice Allen: You aren't teasing me?
- Gene Autry: Why, certainly not.
- Bernice Allen: Why didn't you tell me you knew who I was?
- Gene Autry: Why didn't you tell me who you were?
- Bernice Allen: That's beside the point. A gentleman wouldn't *do* what you did.
- Gene Autry: A lady wouldn't do what you did.
- Gene Autry: [singing] Come gather all around me, You boys that want a wife, You'd better take my warning, You'll thank me all your life, My brother was a bachelor, And he wished he was again, He'd never give up that single bliss, To wear a ball and chain, Oh, why did he get married? Why did he don this neck yoke? If he talks back, She'll give him a smack, And he's liable to get his neck broke, Yo-da-lay-e-ay, Lay-de-oo, Lay-eee... .
- Colonel Allen: This race is over the calvary training grounds and back to here. All hurdles and obstacles must be taken by the horses. Autry's riders will wear white hats, Neale's men will wear black.
- Spud - aka Edward, Earl of Grandby: I don't know what I would have done without Gene. He's been swell.
- Bernice Allen: You're awfully fond of him, aren't you?
- Spud - aka Edward, Earl of Grandby: Sure! Everyone is. Aren't you?
