This film owes a lot to the 1933 Universal release "S.O.S. ICEBERG". A lot of impressive stock footage was used from that movie. As such, a good way to spend a little over an hour's time. Good action and flavorful music keep this one above average.

Slow lukewarm first half, heats up in speedy freezing second half.

Warning: Spoilers
"We'll all drowned in ice water!" proclaims one of the survivors of a mutiny on a scientific expedition in the freezing waters above Canada where Richard Arlen and Andy Devine (along with other members of the crew and their loyal husky searching for radium) are stranded. They hadn't wanted Anne Nagel aboard the ship as legend has it that women on voyages like this are bad luck, and if indeed they had bad luck, they should be glad she was aboard because she's the one who leads a search for them.
The elements really threaten them in this with their weight sinking the ice flow they're on, then attempted polar bear attacks, and ultimately glaciers dwindling around them. Global warming in one of its first onscreen appearances you can say. Enjoyable for stock footage and some decent special effects, but nothing special in the acting department. Fortunately, Andy Devine is subtle in this, his hammy mugging from other films in the series missing here.
