A fairly good war adventure yarn.
searchanddestroy-123 February 2009
One more patriotic war movie for its time. No surprise however, but good acting and good special effects for 1945 and above all for this kind of production. This movie is about US submarines crews in the Pacific and their fight against Japanese fleet. There were a bunch of films of this kind, during the war, and not all good ones. Wallace Mac Donald - the producer - was a efficient one, better than Sam Katzman, for Columbia Pictures too.

D Ross Lederman, the director, made nearly his all carrier in Warner Brothers, and almost B pictures.

If you really love submarine adventures, this one is not DAS BOOT but far better than, for instance, SUBMARINE COMMAND. A submarine movie with nearly no submarine. But that's another comment...
