When Mrs. Malik leaves the UNRRA center, she's wearing a single-breasted, belted trench coat. The army jeep that Steve (Montgomery Clift) is in suddenly changes to a different jeep when he brings Karel back to the Army house. Notice the appearance of large decal lettering in the passenger side window, in addition to other minor differences.
When Karel and Stevenson are talking and Karel is tying his shoes, Karel is working on his right foot and his left foot is bare. The camera follows Stevenson as he walks over to a basin, talking continuously. He then returns to Karel who is still working on his right foot. But now his left foot is completely shod.
Contrary to what is mentioned in the film, the letter "A" in the tattooed number on Karel's arm ("A24328") does not refer to him being imprisoned in the Auschwitz concentration camp. The letter was not used for that purpose. However, according to the United States Holocaust Museum Web site, the numbers for men went only from 1 to 20,000 within each letter group, so Karel's number is an apparent error.
On Montgomery Clift's right shoulder, he wears the patch of the 102nd infantry division, but it is sewed on incorrectly; it is turned 90 degrees to the right.
All of Tommy's lines were obviously dubbed.
Steve (Montgomery Clift) leaves Karel a sandwich by the side of the road, and drives off in his Army Jeep. As he drives off, a cameraman's or director's hand can be seen reflected in the windshield, motioning Karel to move forward and retrieve the food that Steve just left him. Sure enough, right on cue, we see Karel move forward to pick up the sandwich.
During the dinner party, Karel (now known as Jim) gets angry with Steve and runs away. He runs out the door, and as the door closes behind him, the moving shadow of a cameraman can be seen against the field of the door.
