Liberace made this as the first of a two-picture deal he had with Warner Bros. It did so poorly that Warners paid off the pianist rather than make a second film featuring him.
This was Liberace's first leading role, and it went over so badly that, other than cameo appearances in When the Boys Meet the Girls (1965), The Loved One (1965), and the South African Vlug van die Seemeeu (1972), he never appeared on the big screen again.
