Carol Marvin : And Mrs. Dr. Russell A. Marvin, without whose inspiration and untiring criticism this report could never have been written.

Dr. Russell A. Marvin : Married two hours and already she's claiming community property!

Carol Marvin : [in directing his attention to her neck]  Now that you're married, Dr. Marlowe, you don't have to sneak up on me.

Dr. Russell A. Marvin : You always did have eyes in the back of your head.

Carol Marvin : Besides, it's not safe when we're driving.

Dr. Russell A. Marvin : But pretty...

Carol Marvin : I thought intellectual giants were supposed to be backwards and shy.

Dr. Russell A. Marvin : My third-grade teacher, Miss Hickey, said I was a quick study.

Carol Marvin : You're starting something you're not going to be able to finish.

Dr. Russell A. Marvin : [sighing]  Yeah. Yeah, today I've got a hot date with a three-stage rocket.

  • Dr. Russell A. Marvin : [talking into tape recorder]  To the best of my knowledge, my wife and I are the only ones left alive since we have not seen or heard from anyone for hours.

  • [last lines]

Carol Marvin : [worriedly, about the flying saucers]  Russ, do you think there are any more? Will they come back again?

Dr. Russell A. Marvin : [pulling her up from her beach chair to head to the surf]  Not on such a nice day.

Carol Marvin : [standing by the surf, staring into Russ' eyes]  ... and not in such a nice world. I'm glad it's still here.

Dr. Russell A. Marvin : It's still ours.

[they stare into the horizon then walk into the surf]

  • Dr. Russell A. Marvin : I always thought it was St. Elmo's Fire. I'll have to change my mind about that.

  • Dr. Russell A. Marvin : It's only a hollow steel ball, but for our purposes, it's a flying saucer.
