Sex & Nudity

  • An Egyptian overseer attempts to force a Hebrew slave girl to kiss him.
  • Some suggestive dialogue. Rameses tells Nefretiri that she will be his wife and will come to him whenever called whether she enjoys it or not. In another scene, Rameses mentions a future night with Nefretiri and her pining for Moses while they are together. Rameses taunts Moses by saying "It is I who will possess all of her."
  • Women wear Egyptian-style, cleavage-revealing gowns. Court dancers wear midriff-baring outfits.
  • Sexual expectations are implied. A young Hebrew woman is taken against her will to fulfill the sexual interests of an Egyptian overseer, and afterward by another Hebrew collaborating with the Egyptians.
  • No sex or nudity.
  • Male characters are frequently shown shirtless or bare-chested throughout the film.
  • Nefretiri's clothing is noticeably transparent in a scene.
  • Some mild canoodling between lovers.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is strangled to death.
  • Several slaves seemingly fall to their deaths during a massive undertaking to raise an obelisk.
  • An Egyptian taskmaster throws a knife at a Hebrew slave. The knife is shown embedded in the slave's stomach. Blood is shown.
  • Baka has Joshua bound between two columns, whipping him a few times with the intent to ultimately kill him. Streaks of blood are visible on Joshua's shoulders and chest before Moses intervenes, saving Joshua.
  • Shepherds wrestle with Sephora, roughly knocking her down. Moses fights the shepherds with his staff, slamming one of them in the head.
  • Joshua uses a pillow to block a knife attack from Baka and then hits him in the face knocking him down.
  • A man slams another man on the back with a chain to punish him for advocating for Moses.
  • An Egyptian soldier is seen just after killing a Hebrew baby. He wipes blood off of his sword. Scene may be rather disturbing for some.

Profanity

  • A Hebrew asks, "Where are we going?" An Egyptian responds, "To h-ll, I hope."

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • No smoking or drugs.
  • While the Hebrews rebel against God, they drink heavily and behave in an unruly, vile manner.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A golden calf is destroyed, and people are killed as the ground opens up underneath them.
  • Violence and human exploitation related to slavery, including beatings (some blood) and sexual harassment.
  • When the Hebrews drunkenly carouse around the golden calf, Dathan orders Lilia to be sacrificed to the calf, and the people force her onto the litter in front of the calf and tie her down with the intent to ultimately kill her. Moses returns from the mountaintop with Joshua and stops the celebration, and Lilia is freed before any harm comes to her.
  • Moses is summoned in chains into the royal court and accused of conspiring to free the Hebrews. Pharoah issues a law for erasing the name of Moses from the minds of men and from the monuments of Egypt as if Moses had never existed. Moses is briefly shown chained in a prison before being banished from Egypt.
  • An old woman's belt gets caught under a huge stone as the stone is being moved. She is nearly crushed, but the Egyptians stop the stone.
  • The angel of death appears in a gray mist over Egypt. When touched by the mist, Egyptian firstborns young and old die.
