Sex & Nudity

  • A young man tells a young woman (whom he believes to be a boy) to take off her clothes and carry them over her head to cross a river. When she refuses, he walks toward her as though to force her. She makes as though she is starting to take her clothes off, then runs away.
  • A man tells a young woman that she doesn't look like a boy anymore, and asks her if she knows what may happen to her if she turns herself over to the pirates. The possibility of sexual assault is implied from these comments.

  • Some passionate kissing.

Violence & Gore

  • Some of the violence with the pirates is played for laughs and a bit slapstick.

  • Several scenes of violence. Blood is visible on a man's shirt after a violent encounter with a pirate. In the following scenes, injury is evident when his arm is shown held in a sling.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some drinking at Christmas night. A father allows his young son a sip of wine, but then tells him that it is enough.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Some scenes with the pirates, the scene with the tiger attacking Francis, and the scene with the snake attacking Fritz could be intense and/or frightening for younger viewers.
