The film was first shown on British television as part of the BBC2 series
Moviedrome (1988) in 1990 in a unique version that ran five minutes shorter than the uncut version. The print used featured a unique variant of the credits sequence, in which the film was titled "The Big Silence", and featured cuts to several of the film's violent scenes, including the opening ambush, Silence's death and the massacre of the outlaws.
