(1970) A Man Called Sledge/ Der Einsame aus dem Westen (The Lonely One From The West)
DUBBED
SPAGHETTI WESTERN
Co-written and directed by Vic Morrow that has Sledge (James Garner) and his group robbing stagecoaches. Him and his friend then decide to stop at a saloon. While Sledge is making out with a brothel, his partner is down below winning at poker. As soon as he gets shot from behind, Sledge then hears this shot and successfully shoots and kills the three men who wanted to collect their money back, As soon as he rides away, an old man (John Marley) who witnessed the killing appears to follow him. Just when Sledge was about to kill the old man in the meat house, he decides to take him at his word regarding the gold being guarded heavily by the wild bunch. And Sledge allowing the old man to come and let him be a part of his gang to steal the gold as they are accustomed to rob for little money. It was seven or eight of Sledge's men against 40 or more who guard the transporting of the gold to the fortress-like prison.
Great first half bogged down toward preposterous fourth half. I was involved until it geared toward total ridiculousness, as soon as each of the men decided to gamble all of the gold they had stolen by playing poker. Like, how dumb is that! It went from an interesting heist movie to the "The Treasure of Sierra Madre"
